Love Audiobooks?
Hi, are you into Audiobooks?
They are the next big thing according to several people I have spoken to in publishing and I tend to think they’re right. Everyone seems to be buying audiobooks now. They fit into our busy lifestyles so well. I love to listen to a book during a long commute or when doing chores around the house or exercising at the gym. It’s the ultimate way to kill two birds with one stone and it makes unlikable tasks so much more likable. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve made myself go 10 more minutes on the elliptical just so I could finish out an exciting chapter!

Radish – a new reading app
The world of publishing, especially e-publishing is changing every day. As an author, I like to try and stay on top of the latest trends. Also, I like to try different ways of writing which is why I decided to give Radish a try.
Radish is a new reading app where users can test out a book by reading several free installments and then can make a micro-payment to provide early access to each chapter thereafter. Radish offers a literary version of a television series where the reader is hooked on getting the next week’s installment when left with a cliffhanger ending.

So when I find an author I like, I want to tell everyone about her–which is why I want to tell you about Adriana Anders and her Blank Canvas series.

I got book 1, Under Her Skin
, while I was at the RT convention earlier this month. There is this big goody room with piles of books at RT and everyone is allowed to take two. Being the picky bitch I am, I didn’t see a single one I wanted…until my eye fell on Under Her Skin. The premise intrigued me–a woman with tragic tattoos which are forced on her during a night of awful abuse moves to a small mountain town where they are offering free tattoo removal for people in similar situations. Enter a strong, silent-type hero who had his own secret past and this book had me hooked.
Okay, I know–this isn’t sci-fi or fantasy which is usually all I read. But for me, when I fall in love with a book it’s really the author’s prose I am in love with. And Ms. Anders has the most gorgeous, flowing style of anyone I have encountered lately. I’m telling you, she could write the phone book and I would read it!
This book is beautiful, lyrical, and the heroine has a dark past which she overcomes–all elements I love. “But what about the sex scenes?” I hear you asking (if you’re as perverted as me, anyway.) Well, they are *hot* and I say that as someone who writes sex for a living. I loved every single one and especially loved the way that Ivan, the hero, allows Uma to take the lead.
Even before Uma reveals her past abuse, Ivan seems to understand that she needs to be in control of the situation in order to enjoy it. And though he’s a mountain of a man (and a mountain man in general given the setting of the story) he’s secure enough in his masculinity to allow Uma to steer their sex the way she needs it to go. To me, that kind of hero is just so deliciously desirable. Ivan is all Alpha but he’s also sensitive enough to the heroine’s needs to give her exactly what she wants. Seriously, I’m getting worked up again just thinking about it! *Whew–fans self.*
