Gilbert Cannan (25 June 1884 – 30 June 1955) was a British novelist, playwright, literary critic, and translator associated with the early 20th-century literary world and the Bloomsbury Group.

His works explored marriage, religion, politics, and the complexities of human relationships, often reflecting the changing social attitudes of his time.

Among his notable works are Peter Homunculus (1908), Round the Corner (1912), and Mendel (1916).

Cannan was also a friend of artist Mark Gertler and a contemporary of D. H. Lawrence.
Though his literary career was overshadowed by personal struggles and later mental illness, he remains an intriguing figure in British literary modernism.
