Just How Terrifying and True to Life is Bull Moose Book 1? Here’ the Running List

WARNING: This post is full of spoilers. If you have not yet read What It Takes to Kill a Bull Moose, you will not want to scroll down this post – past the photo of Jackson Piper from Chapter 2. To do so would be to explore our running tally of all the ways that reality is becoming stranger than fiction. AND all the ways this award-winning book has come true (again).

This post will be updated as necessary by the author.

Chapter 2

From the author’s forward in the book, you’ll recall that the original draft told the tale of a strongman President and a cast of candidates no one was excited to support. The second draft from 2016 included a sitting President refusing to accept the election results, resulting in a popular uprising to force him from office.

Now, in 2024, the Bull Moose book, with all its ominous mention of curses and folklore, has spun up a list of crazy, implausible, and nearly impossible connections between the book and the real world. Keep in mind that the final draft of the book was completed on May 15, 2024. It was uploaded to Amazon on June 10 and published in print for the first time on June 18, 2024. All of those original editions and every one after include the following eerie connections and predictions about America’s stormy present.

Here is the running list of spooky plot elements of Bull Moose Book 1 that have become real since the book was published.

Attempted assassination of a presidential candidate – Came to life on July 13, 2024, in Butler, Pennsylvania.$10 million payoff to a candidate for office with connection to Egypt – Washington Post story of August 2, 2024Billionaire backer emerges to support a president’s reelection via a Super PAC – America PAC public on July 15, 2024Political parties change the rules in the middle of the election to help a favored candidate – DNC July 18, 2024Vice President nominee with major ties to Silicon Valley – J.D. International Firebird Book Award Recognizes “What It Takes to Kill a Bull Moose” in Two Categories

The debut novel by American author Michael Fedor – What It Takes to Kill a Bull Moose – received two awards for fiction by the International Firebird Book Awards sponsored by Speak Up Talk Radio.

The novel received the 2024 honor from judges in two categories – Speculative Fiction and Political Thriller Fiction.

“This book has been part of my heart since 2004,” said author Michael Fedor. “It was a dream come true to see it published after 20 years, but now, to be recognized with an award for fiction is just an honor. I am humbled by the award for this book, which I hope more than anything people will find to be a compelling and thrilling read.”

Two judges in each category chose to bestow awards on nominated books in more than twenty categories, including historical fiction, speculative fiction, Christian fiction, political thrillers, suspense, young adult literature, and nonfiction.

The International Firebird Book Award is sponsored by Speak Up Talk Radio and founder Patricia (Pat) J. Rullo.

Pat Rullo is an author, national radio talk show host, and sought-after speaker.  In 2012, Pat teamed up with Salem Media Group to produce a radio talk show based on her book Speak Up and Stay Alive, the patient advocate hospital survival guide. The radio program was the first nationally syndicated show to address patient safety and the patient experience. It is heard on stations throughout the country via satellite as well as iHeart Radio and 50 additional online venues.

Published on June 18, 2024, What It Takes to Kill a Bull Moose follows the U.S. presidential election of 2044, in which a deeply divided America rocked by economic hardship and political violence navigates an election with striking similarities to 2024.

“History may not repeat, but it sure does rhyme,” warns one of the novel’s central characters.

From the start of the novel, Former U.S. Senator Jackson Piper is recruited to return from his self-imposed political exile to stop incumbent President Russell Warner from apparently rigging his reelection. Warner has help from a wealthy benefactor, colluding political parties, and A.I. run amuck. The only way to overcome a tarpit of corruption, Piper and his allies resurrect the long-forgotten Bull Moose Party of Teddy Roosevelt with a platform of reforming America.

Just as Piper appears to be igniting a spark of belief and unity among the nation’s people, he realizes he is in a fight for survival against heinous assaults on his character, an international interference plot, threats of assassination, and possibly even the Curse of Tippecanoe.

Bull Moose is available in print from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and directly from the author via Shop.MichaelFedorBooks.com. To celebrate the award, the author’s shop is offering a 25% discount now through August 1. Buyers can use the code FIREBIRD to save an additional $5.00 on the purchase of a hardcover copy.

The ebook is available exclusively on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited until September 19.

The novel is the first in a new political thriller series – Bull Moose. Book 2, Tree of Liberty, is scheduled for release on November 3, 2024, just days before the U.S. presidential election. It is available for preorder now on Amazon and Apple Books.

Bull Moose Book 1 has also been nominated in 2024 for an American Fiction Award, Story Trade Book Award, PenCraft Book Award, and North Street Book Prize. Those awards will be announced throughout the summer.

America’s Stormy Present Just Entered a Political Hurricane Season

When I resumed work on my new political thriller novel last year, I did so again with a joint intention to inform and shock my readers. I did not realize when I finished the book this past April that my story would include events that so clearly echo the stormy American present.

Five Themes Explored in Bull Moose Book 11 Expanded Executive Authority in the Context of ImmunityPresident Russell Warner from What It Takes to Kill a Bull Moose.

Throughout the novel, we watch in horror as the 49th President of the United States (elected in 2040), commits sweeping questionable acts despite Congressional objection and in spite its inaction. President Russell Warner’s actions increasingly cross the line from horrific to outright illegal. The word illegal appears 11 times in the book, nearly all about orders and actions by the President, including arresting a state official for failing to do his bidding, disqualifying a candidate from challenging him, ordering the murder of border-crossers, manipulating the media, shutting down news networks’ access to public airwaves, shutting down the Capitol, and more. And picking up on the President’s approach, his allies engage in even more egregious illegal behaviors.

Why will no one stop them? Because the actions are claimed to be official. Upon giving an order that a Cabinet member views as illegal, President Warner has this comment:

“What a p****,” said Warner. “When will I find true leaders to serve in my government who understand what it takes to lead this country away from the weakness and whining that has diminished in?”

What It Takes to Kill a Bull Moose, Chapter 19
2 Reforming America, including how to deal with a SCOTUS out of sync with the publicBull Moose Convention in Pittsburgh, PA

The resurrected Bull Moose Party stakes out a bold new platform of fundamental reform during its multi-city convention in the novel. Among the many planks, relevant to the stormy present include banning gifts for elected and appointed federal officials, including judges; expanding suffrage to include 16-year-olds; national referenda to enact or repeal laws Congress is afraid to pass or that the Supreme Court of the United States hands down through unpopular decision; mandatory retirement age for all judges at age 75; expanding the House of Representatives and removing its authority to exempt itself or its members from laws it would pass for the rest of the nation.

3 Using the Presidency to violate criminal lawMarco Alvarez

Bribery is the most likely crime an executive might commit, given the insatiable demand for money (personal or campaign), and the many appointments, pardons, and actions the President might take to the benefit of a private citizen or a company. Chief Justice John Roberts asserted as much during the oral argument of Trump v. The United States case in 2024. According to the ruling in that case, the President enjoys absolute immunity for official acts and his motivations for such actions (appointments, pardons, and actions) may not be considered when determining whether or not to criminally prosecute him for such acts after leaving office.

Bull Moose Book 1 is built around a $1 billion bribe at the start of the book, except it is never clear who actually is on the take besides President Warner. Does it also include the Other Party chairwoman Diane Fogarty? Senator Paul Drummond? Olivia Clay? Ron Bender?

4 Conspiracy, Conspiracy, ConspiracyJackson Piper for President

The definition of a federal criminal conspiracy is:

The agreement by two or more persons to commit a federal crime or to defraud the United States or any federal agency in any manner and for any purpose. At least one co-conspirator must take an overt act in furtherance of the conspiracy.

Conspiracy fills the 41 chapters of this political thriller. There is a conspiracy to rig the presidential election. There is a conspiracy to replace the Vice President. There is a conspiracy to stop Jackson Piper. There is a conspiracy to subvert the new Bull Moose Party. There is a conspiracy to endanger the life of the Bull Moose nominee for President and his wife. There is a conspiracy to subvert the Constitution. And the list goes on and on, reading like many suspense books.

5 The Highest-Stakes Presidential Campaign EverVice President Jessica Brown from Bull Moose 1

Every election in my lifetime has been coined “the most important election ever” – so much so, that I think people have come to disregard the warning. When I first began writing this novel in 2004, it was a result of the 2004 results. When I revised the book in 2012, it was in response to the 2012 election, and again in response to the 2016 election. The final version has the context of the past thirty years of presidential elections that I can recall, but with the stakes raised even higher as evidence by the books final chapters in Part V. Most Americans can’t imagine what the end of democracy might look like, but I take a hard swing at revealing how suddenly and easily it might arrive with the culmination of the right circumstances.

Unveiling Dysfunction in Politics: What It Takes to Kill a Bull Moose by Michael Fedor

Former political operative Michael Fedor takes readers on a gripping journey through the murky waters of American politics in his debut novel, What It Takes to Kill a Bull Moose: A Political Thriller. Drawing on his extensive first-hand experience working on campaigns from local government to President, Fedor crafts a chillingly realistic portrayal of corruption and intrigue at the highest levels of government.

What It Takes to Kill a Bull Moose delves into the lives of corrupt politicians and dysfunctional political parties during a lackluster presidential election. As the nation faces an uninspiring choice, a dramatic twist unfolds with the unexpected entry of Jackson Piper and the resurrected Bull Moose Party. With razor-sharp prose and an insider’s perspective, Fedor captures the intensity and unpredictability of a high-stakes political race that could change the course of history.

“My background as a political operative gave me unparalleled insight into the machinations of political campaigns,” said Michael Fedor, author. “I set out with this novel to weave real-world knowledge into a compelling narrative set in the near future to explore where we may be headed given America’s current trajectory.”

This electrifying novel promises to keep readers on the edge of their seats, questioning the integrity of the political system and the lengths to which individuals and parties will go for power. What It Takes to Kill a Bull Moose is not just a story; it’s a reflection on the current state of American politics and a call for deeper engagement and vigilance.

New Political Thriller Novel Series Launches Pre-Orders

A new political thriller series about the future of presidential elections just went on pre-order on Amazon, Apple, and Barnes & Noble on May 15, 2024. The first Bull Moose series novel will be released in the United States and around the world on June 18, 2024 – just eight days before the first General Election debate organized by CNN between the current President, Joe Biden, and former President Donald Trump.

What It Takes to Kill a Bull Moose tells the story of the presidential election of 2044 – twenty years into our future. The United States has been rocked by economic uncertainty, while political leaders have continued to grift and profit off the offices they hold while leaving the crises of the nation to languish without solutions.

What It Takes ot Kill a Bull Moose Book 1 Ebook

The protagonist is former United States Senator Jackson Piper, formerly of Pennsylvania. The star of The Senate Deception has lost his reelection campaign and retired with his family to Denver, Colorado to seek a new profession. His former Senate rival, Russell Warner, is now the 49th President and preparing for his reelection campaign, but a series of peculiar events have political operative Ron Bender’s hairs standing on end.

Jackson Piper is convinced to make a run at the presidency, if only to stop Russell Warner and his corrupt intentions of a second and possibly third term in office. Sensing a spoiler to their plans, both political parties of the day shut Jackson Piper out from receiving their nomination. This leaves Jackson with two choices – quit or form a new Party.

Piper calls for New Optimism, New Freedoms, and New Vitality for America to return it to a road of shared prosperity. He and his allies are poised to rewrite the political rulebook while reforming the nation by resurrecting Teddy Roosevelt’s Bull Moose Party.

But there are darker forces at play. What stands in their way is the corrupt President Warner and his financier, Marco Alvarez. With unlimited resources and a ruthless agenda, Warner and Alvarez are determined to win a second term and maybe more. Piper and his allies must navigate a treacherous landscape of espionage, fake news, and assassination attempts to come out on top.

Accompany Jackson and his team on a pulse-pounding quest to rescue the Republic. Guided by the strategic mind of Ron Bender and the assistance of his sentient A.I. companion Ziggy, they must outsmart their adversaries and battle for the destiny of their nation. Will they triumph over the corrupt forces arrayed against them, or will they succumb to the Curse of Tippecanoe?

This enthralling political thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final page. Drawing from his own experiences as a former political operative, the author crafts a chillingly believable narrative of power and corruption in American politics. Don’t miss the inaugural installment in the compelling Bull Moose Series.

This book is a must-read for fans of political thrillers like “The Manchurian Candidate” and “All the President’s Men.” Pre-Order now and get ready for a heart-pumping adventure through the cutthroat world of presidential elections.
