All Author

Hello readers,

I've joined All Author network! Exciting as there is a "magic tool" option that I've been exploring and having fun with the freebies so far. Thinking of upgrading soon. Perhaps next week I will invest as it's affordable for 6 months. There are so many promotion options out there, but for an independent author, like myself, I have to be mindful, as money doesn't grow on trees. I've already invested a lot in the three books I've published and three I'm about to publish soon. I thought one or all would be out by now, but there are always unexpected delays. So "soon" is all I can say reveal right now. In the meantime, check out my All Author profile:

And check out my Instagram for some cool free promos I'm able to utilize with All Authors

Booklife

Hello readers,

I just got back my reviews from Booklife by Publisher's Weekly on The Darkest Side of the Moon and A Dance Between Light and Darkness! Check them out:

https://booklife.com/project/the-dark...

https://booklife.com/project/a-dance-...

Extremely happy in how they turned out! It was a risk in spending a lot of money on those reviews, as it wasn't a guarantee that I would get such positive reviews. With each positive review, I gain more confidence in myself and know I did my job as a writer right. It takes a lot of hard work to make it in the publishing world before readers decide to invest in a no-name indie author. Keep an eye out as more good things are to come! I'm just getting started...

Dear Authors

Dear Authors,

I may be new to the author business, but I’m not new to writing what’s on my mind. This is dedicated to the self-published authors of the world. It’s a tough business to be in to get people to show interest in your book(s). I know firsthand. I battle it every day. Word of advice, keep your guard up, always. Do not let book reviewers on social media prey on you or questionable organizations feed you lies to promote your book to thousands of followers when they only have a hundred. Always do your homework. Research! Most are just out to make a buck off of you. You should not be paying someone to read your book in order for them to review it. They should be paying YOU to read your book. Some book reviewers have your best interest, most do not as it's their business and livelihood. Do not be eager to agree on anything without first asking questions. How they first approach you should be your first red flag. If out of the gate they are slapping their small fees in your face, they are not in it for the right reasons. Their followers are not the right followers you will want following your author journey. If they are asking where you are located, do not answer. I repeat, DO NOT ANSWER. Why is that even relevant to your book(s)? If they can’t take no for an answer, respond with silence. Do not get on that hamster wheel with them. There is a delete button for a reason (and a block option too if it comes to it.) They will act as if they are doing you a favor. Always trust your gut instinct. If something seems off, that is a red flag. Again, do your homework, research. Review their website if they have one. If they don’t, ask if they do. If they don’t have a website, that is a huge red flag. As an author, you want to gain the right readers, not the wrong followers. If you do interact, feel them out. Tone is everything. Are they treating you as a robot or a human being? If they are treating you as a robot, run! If you can have an honest conversation with them in which they answer your simple question(s), then they might be the right follower for you. Never be too eager to make a business deal. If their deal is not beneficial to your author business, there are plenty of other opportunities out there. You just have to be patient and find the right ones that will help you in the long run who will become your champion and support you every step of your author journey way. Do not let desperation have you make poor judgements. Do not be easy prey and get scammed. Never give up and keep spreading the word to the best of your ability about your book(s). Find writing conferences near you to meet like-mind individuals. Go to your local libraries. Go to your local bookstores. Look for the right audience, not the wrong one.

Write on,
M. C. Ryder

Writing

The best thing about writing, even if no one reads it, I can reread what I wrote. Get out what I feel inside, in that moment, and end up inspiring myself with my own words when I'm feeling down. Writing is a lifesaver...

Why I write

When I signed up for the GLV Writers Group The Write Stuff conference, I had to answer the question, "why I write?" I put down the first reason that came to me. That I'm tired of reading the same recycled plots and themes. True, yet the question lingered in my mind. Writing has always been something I'm passionate about. When I'm not reading, I'm writing. It allows me to get out what's trapped inside that I don't know how to voice. It's therapeutic. The more I processed those three words, it hit me. Writing gives me a voice. It doesn't matter if no one ever reads it,. What matters is I'm able to get out what I suppress. All the feels. All the emotions. What weighs heavy on my mind. I don't have to be perfect. Just being me has already been enough to uplift others. To put smiles on their faces. At the end of the day, that's the reward in becoming a published author.
