A Public High School in Georgia Just Had a Local Church “Present the Gospel” to Students

Troup County Comprehensive High School is the place that recently invited Creationist Eric Hovind to give an anti-evolution presentation under the guise of teaching critical thinking. Principal Chip Medders defended the invitation, saying that faith wasn’t a part of the presentation so it was okay (even though the presentation slides included religious references).

If you thought Medders was at least spooked by all the unwanted attention, think again. A local church just posted this on Faceboo...

Cochran (Georgia) City Council Will Hoist Christian Flag Above Courthouse, Against Attorney’s Advice

The city council members in Cochran, Georgia have a novel way of settling church/state separation issues. Like hoisting a Christian flag in front of the courthouse.

They just figure out what the majority wants and follow suit:

Councilman Gary Ates said he made the motion for the [Christian] flag to stay up. He said the council voted to keep it up 5 to 1. “The city manager took the flag down because an attorney said we could have a problem,” said Ates.

Ates said, “The people of Cochran came to a...

If This Man Gets His Way, There Will Soon Be a Replica of Noah’s Ark in Jacksonville

Watch out, Ken Ham. You have company.

The city of Jacksonville, Florida is trying to sell off a huge 40-acre tract of land (the Shipyards) near downtown and they’re currently taking bids from developers.

Option 1: Iguana Investments, which is partially owned by billionaire Shad Khan, wants to create luxury housing, football practice fields, and a possible museum.

Option 2: Shitaki Marine wants to create a “docking facility for mega-yachts.” Because the wealthiest people in the world need more pa...

I Love the Woman Invoking the “Religious Freedom” Argument to Keep Feeding the Homeless… but She’s Still Wrong

For nearly a decade, Joan Cheever (below) has been handing out food to the homeless in San Antonio, but she was given a ticket last week:

Cheever has a food permit for her mobile truck, but she was cited for transporting and serving the food from a vehicle other than that truck.

To be sure, this is a safety precaution. The cops did exactly what they were supposed to do. Sure, it’s frustrating when someone who’s trying to help those less fortunate is punished for something so minor, but that’s w...

Tennessee Senate Kills Bible Bill; Majority Leader Claims Satan “Loves This Kind of Mischief”

Just on the heels of the Attorney General saying it would be unconstitutional, the Tennessee Senate has killed a bill that would make the Holy Bible the official state book.

For now.

State Senator Mark Norris

Bolstered by opposition from Republican leadership, the Senate voted 22-9 to kill the Bible bill a day after it was adopted by the House.

“This isn’t the time or place now in the full Senate floor to delve into that, we really need to look into it in committee,” said Senate Majority Leader M...

Church Leader Starved Two-Year-Old Boy to Death to Rid Him of “Demon”

I know religion is only one of many factors involved in this story, so it alone can’t be blamed for what happened… but it reminds us that faith sure as hell doesn’t make you a better, more sensible person.

If it did, then two-year-olds wouldn’t starve to death for superstitious reasons:

Araceli Meza (via DeSoto Police Department)

A woman [Araceli Meza] who operated a church at her suburban Dallas home has been arrested for allegedly helping starve a 2-year-old boy to rid him of a “demon,” then h...

Christian Groups Claim the U.S. Military is a “Hostile Work Environment” for Chaplains Wanting to Proselytize

You know who has it really rough in the military?

Christians. Because I guess the ones in power can’t impose their beliefs on everyone else.

That’s seriously the claim being made by Liberty Institute senior counsel Michael Berry, who thinks the non-proselytizing rule is preventing Christians from joining the military:

[Berry] said recent high-profile cases of military chaplains facing punishment for private counseling sessions that reflected the teachings of their religion could cause devout Ame...

Jeb Bush Will Deliver Commencement Address at School Founded by Jerry Falwell

I don’t know how Liberty University became the go-to place for Republicans on the Presidential campaign trail, but it’s a scary thought that the road to the GOP nomination now runs through Lynchburg:

“Liberty University is honored to welcome Gov. Jeb Bush to campus for our 42nd commencement exercises,” said university president Jerry Falwell, according to the Liberty Champion, a student paper. “Throughout his years of public service, Gov. Bush has been a champion for excellence in education an...

Christian Auto Shop Owner Won’t Serve Openly Gay Clients

Grandville, Michigan auto repair shop owner Brian Klawiter said on Facebook this week that he would not serve gay customers at Dieseltec.

(How he would know they’re gay is anyone’s guess.)

Guns ARE allowed at DIESELTEC, so much so in fact that we will offer a discount if you bring in your gun. (“On duty” cops are excluded because thats not their gun, thats my gun bought with my money, off duty absolutely!)

I am a Christian. My company will be run in a way that reflects that. Dishonesty, thievery...
