Excerpt from Chapter 1:
That was the second time he’d admitted to talking to her brother about her. That had to mean something, right? That he was at least interested enough to mention her in passing to Roman.
“What did he warn you about?”
“That you have an unbalanced sense of humor.”
“Unbalanced? That’s harsh.” Though Roman had said worse when she’d switched salt for sugar in his canister and he’d added it to his morning coffee.
It was an old trick and she shouldn’t have gotten away with it, which is what she told him. Sugar and salt didn’t look alike to a person with their background in chemistry, not to mention the different smell, texture and melting rate in hot water.
He’d told her she needed to get a life. Of course it was his effort to see she had one that had prompted the salt in his coffee. He’d fixed her up with the most boring, obnoxiously intelligent man she’d ever met the night before. To make matters worse, they’d gone on a double date and while her brother was having fun with his not-so-brainy arm candy, Danusia had spent the evening arguing quantum physical theory. Not discussing, but arguing.
Her blind date had been an opinionated cretin.
“Do I have to worry you’re going to sabotage the kitchen?” Max asked, proving Roman had been telling tales.
“I don’t know. Are you going to try to fix me up with the most obnoxious man on the Eastern Seaboard?”
“Is that what Roman did?”
“Yes. And when you’re contemplating murder, salt in the coffee doesn’t seem like such a harsh retaliation.”
Max laughed out loud. “I can promise you, I’ve got no plans to fix you up with anyone while you’re here.”
“Good.” She had her own plans and they all revolved around the gorgeous black man whose laugh made her thighs clench.
Weird. Was that a primal reaction, she wondered or an evolutionary one? Whatever it was, there was an ache between her legs that would not go away.
“You’re doing it again.”
“What?”
“Thinking about something that puts that alarming expression in your eyes.”
“Do I worry you?” she asked in disbelief.
“More than you know.” With that, he spun on his heel and headed out of the room, stopping at the doorway. “I’ll make dinner tonight.”
“You don’t trust me to cook?”
“Let’s just say I’ll be sure what goes into it, if I make it.”
“I’ll have you know I’m a very good cook.” It was basic organic chemistry and she’d had that particular subject down before she’d been out of training bras.
“When you aren’t switching ingredients on the unsuspecting.”
“I told you, he deserved it.”
“And I don’t.”
“Not yet,” she couldn’t resist saying.
He laughed again and she decided that sound could become more addictive than McDonalds French fries.

MISSION: IRRESISTIBLE
Super spy Mykola Chernichenko comes from a family of geniuses, and though he's no idiot himself, he'd rather be where the action is than analyze it to death. That's why his vacation has just been cut short by a call to get two of his siblings out of some serious trouble—while protecting a nerdy scientist who's latest project could change the world...and get her killed.
The guy who'd rather act than think guarding an egghead in a lab coat? Myk would appreciate the irony more if he weren't so busy trying to figure out how, exactly, to get under said lab coat. Because Lana Ericson just happens to be the hottest thing working the scientific method since, well, ever. Myk has a feeling Lana's laser-like focus would translate to something equally intense in the bedroom. And if she's as curious about him, Myk might just be willing to donate his body to science—each and every night...

Memorial Day marks the start of the summer release season. I'm super excited about this summer as I have three books coming out. The first new release will be out in July, Heart of a Desert Warrior (Harlequin Presents). It is sure to spark that sizzle in your summer reading TBR pile! I can read anywhere, but I love sitting out on the back deck with a great book. Yes, believe it or not, we do get a few days of good weather here in the Northwest to sit outside and read! Jami Davenport gave a great interview last Friday on my blog. She, like so many of us, don't have as much free time as we would like. What is one thing that Jami would like to do if she had more free time?

Guest Interview -- Jami Davenport

Jami Davenport has been writing since she was old enough to know the alphabet. An advocate of happy endings, Jami writes sexy romantic comedy, sports hero romances, and equestrian fiction. Jami lives on a small farm near Puget Sound with her husband, a former Green Beret turned plumber, a Newfoundland cross with a tennis ball fetish, a prince disguised as an orange tabby cat, and an opinionated Hanoverian mare.
She works in IT for her day job and is a former high school business teacher. In her spare time, Jami rides and shows her dressage horse and grows roses. An avid boater, Jami has spent countless hours in the San Juan Islands, the setting for her first two books. In her opinion, it is the most beautiful place on earth.
How did you get started writing romance? The first romance novel I can remember reading was Danielle Steele's The Promise. I loved that story. From that moment on, I was hooked on romance novels. I’d written most of my life, just not necessarily romance. I shifted to writing romance and have been dabbling in it ever since. A few years ago I started writing for publication.
Why did you decide to participate in Lucy’s Reader Fitness Challenge?I used to be one of those people who never put on a pound no matter how much I ate. But over the past four years, I've gained close to 40 pounds. I've gone from a size 6 to a size 12. While I don't expect to be a size 6 again, I'd like to be a size 8 by the end of this year. When Lucy mentioned her fitness challenge, I was all over it. I’m competitive, and I’m better under pressure, so it was a win-win for me.
What do you like to do in your free time? Free time? What free time? Seriously, I work a full-time job and then some, write on nights and weekends, and still try to have a life.
If you'd asked me this question a year ago, you would've gotten a completely different answer. Ever since I was a senior in high school, I've ridden horses. For the past twenty some years, I rode and competed in dressage. Last year, my show horse was no longer rideable. After leasing another horse for a few months, I came to the conclusion that my heart really wasn't into showing horses anymore. I no longer have a riding horse, and I haven't ridden in over six months. It's been a big adjustment, but I have more time for writing and more money for fun stuff. I do miss it, but not enough to give up everything else to do it again. So for now, I spend my spare time working on a few different writing projects, and I'm focusing on getting our large yard and acreage in better shape. I still own a horse, but she’s being leased out right now as a broodmare.
What’s your most recent release?

In the meantime, I'm in an anthology with Cassandra Carr and Cristal Ryder which will be released on June 29. I wrote two short stories for that anthology, both heroes are football players. I love sports heroes and they sell well so why stop writing them. I'm also self-publishing Fourth and Goal in trade paperback this summer and participating in a sports hero romance anthology due out later in the fall. So I’m definitely keeping busy.
What are you working on right now?I enrolled in a Lori Wilde mentoring class last month. I've learned so much from this class, that I'm going through Forward Passes one more time and making changes based on what I learned in Lori's class. I'm also working on the first draft for my small-town series in Lori’s class. The first book is about a wounded warrior and his best friend's widow. Lastly, I started the third book in this Seattle Lumberjacks series. I love this hero, and I think you will, too.
Thanks Jami for stopping by today with such a great interview! I know my readers will enjoy your comments. Sounds like you have lots of things you enjoy in your free time, but like most of us, you don't have much. Reader's it is your turn. What things would you do in your free time if you had more of it?

52 Weeks of Romance From Lucy Monroe!

His Royal Love Child
by Lucy Monroe
ISBN 0373125410
Great Reviews from you, my readers...."Well, Lucy has done it again. His Royal Love-Child is another fantastic, passionate, sexy 5 star read. The Chemistry between Marcello and Danette was wonderful and I love the secondary storyline of King Vincente and Flavia. I can hardly wait to read Claudio and Therese story and find out what happens with Vincente and Flavia." ~ Amy
"Ms. Monroe - I have been a reader of Harlequin Presents for many years now and this is the first time I have contacted an author. I just wanted to say, how much I really enjoyed your book and I loved both characters a great deal and found myself very animated as I read the book. I really like when a male character is not afraid to take physical care of his lady love. Although a prince, Marcello did not shy away from caring for Danette and to stand up for her against his father. We all love it when those we love are not afraid to show it. Thanks for a great book." - Michelle
