*Why both? The TL;DR is that Buy Me a Coffee goofed and then fixed the problem, but I’d already set up a Ko-Fi in a fit of indignant rage and figured I might as well keep it. 😆
The long story is:
A week after starting my Buy Me a Coffee page and getting a surprising number of tips, BMC spontaneously suspended my account for unspecified “risk concerns”/terms of service violations. When I contacted them to ask for more detail, the reason changed to illegal use of copyrighted material … that I didn’t actually post on the site (and, like, own myself to begin with). It had also changed to a permanent ban. 😮
Anyway, I put all my powers of Polite Southern Lady With A Customer Service Voice to use and replied with a version of , “Y’all, I appreciate the vigilance in defending creatives’ copyrights, but it’s totes ridiculous that I’m being perma-banned for this without even the opportunity to prove I own the material.”
I fully expected BMC to maintain its decision, given how silly it was to begin with … but lo and behold, I got an email this morning saying my account had been re-activated! 😃
Which is to say, big props to Buy Me a Coffee for actually listening to me and fixing the problem. I was fully ready to fire off a warning to my author pals about it … but I also believe in rewarding good customer service, and while my beginning experience was sub-optimal, the speed and ease with which I was re-activated was pretty great.
Also to say, if you’re an author and get a similar deactivation – which I’m pretty sure is bot/algorithm-triggered to begin with – all it takes is a thoughtfully-worded email (or two in my case) to fix the issue.
Also NOTE: Readers who contributed to my Buy Me A Coffee before his kerfuffle should soon receive refunds (if you haven’t already). Since it looked like your coffees were never going to be paid out to me when my account was “cancelled,” I pre-emptively refunded your payments to make double-sure your money actually made it back to you. The point’s moot now that my account is un-cancelled, but I just wanted to let you know, to avoid confusion!

DUDE Y’all gotta check out this review! 😮
The editor of Giant Freakin’ Robots recently sent me Tangent Online’s review of the anthology – which is a glowing article that has great things to say about all the involved stories.
But then he told me something even cooler about this review:
Giant Freakin’ Robots marks the first time in 30 years that Tangent’s recommended every single story in an anthology. 😮😮😮This is a magazine that specializes in sci-fi and fantasy short fiction, which means it’s reviewed some killer anthologies in its day.
Here’s what it had to say about my story, “I’m in Love with a Helicopter,” btw:
Out of all the stories in this anthology, this one best embodied the spirit of so many of the mecha-genre stories. Handsome scoundrel who meets his match in a beautiful and badass woman? Check. Intense and innovative combat between mechs? Right again. A clever mixture of giant robots and magical powers meshed with technology, tinkered to perfection by a mechanic who loves machines more than people? You got it. In fact, the only thing this story is missing is… a sequel. Seriously, let me know when it’s printed and I’m there. Orion is the Gravity Mage who is just graduating from the Titan Academy, and Jenny is the redheaded firebrand who damn near sends him to the dirt. She is pirating only because her brothers are being held hostage, and Orion is the perfect man to help her get them back. The pirates never stood a chance, and the story ends on a bright and cheeky note that made me smile. Well done, sincerely.
All this to say, if you haven’t checked out Giant Freakin’ Robots yet, you should totes do what. 😁

I’m now on Ream Stories!
Hey, y’all! 😃 One of my recent background projects has been to get set up on Ream Stories, and I’m glad to announce that my page is finally up!
What’s Ream? It’s basically Patreon, but designed specifically for authors and readers.My Patreon’s not going anywhere – so don’t panic! ☺️ – but given how finicky Patreon (and even Amazon) can be about explicit content, I felt it would be a good idea to have a backup just in case either decided to yeet my work.
And Ream was founded by romance authors, so it’s naturally going to be less hostile to spiciness. 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Anyway, the content between both platforms is going to be as identical as I can possibly make it, so you won’t be missing out regardless of which one you join. (That said, even if you don’t subscribe over there, it may be a good idea to at least give me a follow in case any of my other platforms get up to nonsense; that way you can still stay in the loop.)
It’s a little sparse right now – but Blood Knight #2 will start posting on both Patreon and Ream this Wednesday, so it won’t be sparse for long! 😄
