Now, a bit on the Pass The Amyl Press ethos, if you’ll indulge me.
Having given the publishing world a good sniff over the last few years, I’ve decided that no-one’s going to lavish the love and attention on my gear like, well, I am… so I’m going rogue.
I’ve been around the bit, made video, done the web thing, marketing, worked in publishing – the vision is locked in and I figure fuck it, why not get on with it?
Pass The Amyl Press is my indie label, a place where my dubious taste and aesthetic is king, where I’m not going to hang around for gatekeepers and chin-strokers.
CHEAPA SKIPS is the first stage in a multi-pronged experiment in activating readers while avoiding the stench of association with exploitative, scorched earth platforms like… well, for starters, Amazon.
It is my solemn vow to you, gentle soul, that I will never tether this project’s wagon to that bloke Jeff’s Satanic Mill in any way, shape or form.
Sure, that sounds counter-productive.
Nose to spite face, all that.
But the line needs to be drawn. It’s political, man.
Furthermore, you’ll be getting my digital publications as fixed layout ePubs and PDFs.
Why’s that?
Well, there’s a graphic design vision supporting these narratives, and I’m hell bent on the presentation of these works matching the print (on demand, for now) versions.
We’re talking illustration, typographic experimentation, QR codes branching off into extra feature, soundtracks and sonic landscapes.
Like so.
Stuff that your e-reading devices mangle unless they’re tamed a wee bit. I hope you’ll bear with me and agree a few restrictions are worth it when you behold the finished product.
Being a writer with a pre-loaded aesthetic vision terrifies publishers, so I guess it’s up to me to get my stuff out into the universe, to a standard I find acceptable.
That means if you’re on an iOS device – grab the ePub, and if you’re Windows or Android based, I’ll fix you up with a sexy lookin’ PDF.
I’ll give you a collection of places to buy my gear, and I’ll make sure there’s a format you can access.
Just do us a fave, eh?
Spread the word on the socials, knock out review on your blog or Good Reads or whatever… I’ll take care of you, promise.
Let’s do this thing.
