““Fine,” Myra muttered, looking back out the window. “You know I could just read your mind to know the truth, but I won’t. I don’t have to, to know.” She said the words and hated herself for them at the same time. She knew any anger he had towards her was justified, and yet the defensive reaction was instinctive. She tried to allow him to wound her without putting up a fight, but she couldn’t restrain her arms from coming up to block him, to fight back. Perhaps if she had no emotional stake in the matter, letting him strike at her would be easy. As it was, each time she was expected to take a step away from him, it felt equivalent to a thousand steps bearing the weight of a mountain on her chest.”

Is it wrong that my first instinct was to title the chapter in which all hell breaks loose at the Queen’s ball “Panic! at the Dance Floor”?

witches around the globe → prague
witches who live in prague live in a wonderland - barely touched by the modern world. cobble stone streets and an ancient culture, their magic comes from dusty books found in empty libraries. prague witches are not to be messed with, there’s something in their eyes, something old, something full of knowledge, something dangerous.
