When the Rain Falls – The Playlist

When the Rain Falls – The Playlist

You only have to go so far in exploring this website to realize there are many things which inspire our creativity as writers, and music has always been a large part of that. So, it wasn’t long after starting the rewrites of When the Rain Falls when Sarah suggested to Ashley the idea of creating a playlist centered around the Black Skies series. We began noting down the songs we love, songs which we felt reflected our characters and the events of the book. What ...

Writing Ahead

WriteLifeSometimes you must look farther down the track and skip out of sequence to make the most of time.

I don’t know about you, but I am the type of writer to likes to pen a story in a linear fashion. Write chapters in order. In sequence. I’ve never been one to skip ahead and write the end. Or jump a couple chapters ahead to jot down something in chapter twenty when I’m still in chapter five. I am the same when it comes to writing chapters. I write them from start to finish. Always.

But, I have finally dropped my fulltime orientati...

Accepting Corrections

WriteLifeSometimes it can be difficult to decide whether to make corrections based on feedback

This past month I have been thrust headlong into editing, again. It has been a welcome break from writing our WIP historical fiction novel—I always find it beneficial to take time out from working on one project yet still feel productive. Our fantastic editor (shout out to Dr. Melodie Lindsay from Doclins) finished going through When the Rain Falls. I am furiously going through her corrections to make sure the final copy is ready for release. I have also been beta reading for a friend. ...

Tediums and Technicalities

Spotlight on Writing

Oh dear. I feel like my ‘spotlight on writing’ section is getting a little repetitive. So, to save you from hearing the complaints of what writing I haven’t done (yet again), I will instead try to explain what I have been doing.

So, it’s probably pretty clear from the brand new home page that things are beginning to move ahead with publication of When the Rain Falls, the first book in our dystopian teen fiction series. And with this comes a myriad of tasks to complete on our ...
