As it happens, this is the first book I started to write - when I was five or six. The idea of a little girl finding a talking diamond just popped into my head. I've no idea where it came from, but I loved the setup. I've rewritten it several times since, and the story has changed a lot since my first attempt, but the little girl, her siblings, and the diamond have been there from the start.(less)
