The Incredible True Story Behind America’s National Anthem

The Star-Spangled Banner. No doubt, you’ve probably heard the song at least once if you’re an American. Most likely in the stadium before a ball game. Either way, it’s our national anthem, a song that should inspire loyalty and patriotism for our country, a song that should honor the men and women who have given their lives for our freedom and the men and women who work hard every day to continue making this one of the greatest nations on earth.

O say can you see, by the dawn’s early light

Nine Patriotic Books, Songs, & Movies for the American Soul

July the 4th is quickly approaching and in celebration of America’s Independence Day, I wanted to spend the next four days with some fun freedom themed posts! I’ve always wanted to do something for July the 4th on my blog for years and never got around to it. (Usually cause I kinda forget to do this thing called writing posts during the summer. *hides*) And since it seems like the US is hurting for some patriotic spirit, I figured I had plenty to share with everyone! So we’re making up for missi...

This Gray Canvas Character Interview

Hey Y’all! What a surprise, I am late for a blog tour once again. *sarcasm intended* (I’m starting to wonder why I even bother trying, lol.)

I do have a good excuse this time, though!

*crickets chirping*

Yeah, I got nothing actually. But that doesn’t diminish how excited I am to be sharing with y’all today a super fun character interview with the leading character of this newly released middle grade contemporary novella!! But first, the details!

About the Book

Because how did ...

Summer 2024 Bucket List

Summer is just around the corner, y’all, and this is the first semester in a couple of years where I’ve decided not to take any college classes since I just graduated from my community college and am working through the transferring process to a university. Suddenly, I found myself with a lot of a freetime on my hands. (Okay, in all fair honesty, just a little more freetime. I’m still a writer and blogger so I’m not entirely commitment free.) However, because this upcoming fall semester looks li...

BEAUTIFUL New Character Art for My WIP

So a little while back I was given an incredible opportunity to have art done for a character in one of my WIPs in exchange for a spotlight. I chose an old WIP that most of my current readers probably don’t remember since I was writing it in 2020, alllllll the way back when Li’l Izzy was a blogging newbie. It was a YA retelling of “Aladdin” when once upon a time I thought I would be the coolest fantasy author ever.

of course I was wrong, but that’s beside the point

Out of all the projects ...

Spring Fever Book Tag

I’ve been seeing the Spring Fever book tag going around the blogosphere since Deigan Marie first created it, and while my original intention had been to steal it from Deigan’s site, the good news is I was officially tagged for it! *happy dance*

Thank you so much to Adalynn at The Humorous Bookworm for tagging me!!! Let’s just jump right into the questions!

what is your favorite spring book?

I don’t know what makes a book a “spring book” but since Ad...

Winter 2024 Book Haul

Despite the rumors, I do tend to unhaul many books every few months, but hearing about books I’m getting rid of isn’t as interesting as talking about new books so today I’m going to share the books I got this past winter (December 2023-February 2024). Because of Christmas and because I have a bad tendency to buy a lot of used books, this is a pretty large haul. I’m going to be walking through the books per-genre. Please note, most of these books I haven’t read so I don’t know the content caution...

What’s Their Name? // Writer’s Tag

It’s been a while since I’ve done a tag, but when I recently saw that the lovely Cate from The Southern Story Scribbler (Psst check out her !) tagged me for this one, it looked like so much fun that I knew I had to do it! Tag was created by Miley Simmons, and thank you so much to Cate for tagging me!

Highlights of 2023

So I double checked the calendar and apparently it’s true that we are now in 2024. Crazy, right?! 2023 feels like it just got here yesterday! Even though the year came with its own share of worries, troubles, pain, and trials, there was also many days of excitement, new achievements, spending time with friends and family, and just good ole moments. So when I saw Saraina do a post where she highlighted the most memorable parts of the last year, I knew I had to steal it. (Okay, I’m kidding. I did ...
