Joyce Job is a former I.T. professional hailing from Kerala, India. She writes online under her pen name Lirio Marchito, which means 'Wilted Lily' in Spanish, a tribute to Pablo Neruda. It was after reading his poem 'Tonight I can write the saddest lines,' during her college days, that she started writing poetry regularly.

She writes mainly poems, short stories, book reviews and blogs, in both Malayalam and English. Her favourite Malayalam author is O.N.V. Kurup. His love and concern for nature and subtle, suggestive tone have left a deep influence on her. The environment, its issues and solutions are a major theme of her blogs.

Her first book/poetry collection in English, 'The Blue Rabbit' was published by Writers Workshop, India in 2021.

Missing Molly by Natalie Barelli
"I really enjoyed "Missing Molly" by Natalie Barelli. I read the book in one night, and the writing is so good that I could hear the characters. The story follows Rachel, a woman who is secretly Molly Forster, a girl who disappeared fifteen years ago." Read more of this review »

I found the book's title, the titular concept, and the book itself to be so liberating.

Since childhood, as girls, the notions of what it means to be a good girl or woman, a good student, a good daughter, a good sister, a good friend, a good girlfrie

“Fallen
like a dew drop to the petals of a rose.
Fallen
like a snowflake to the river of dreams.
Fallen
like an autumn leaf to the bosom of soil.
Fallen
to be one and never to part again.

- Poem 'Fallen”
Joyce Job, The Blue Rabbit

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?”
Mary Oliver

“We all owe death a life.”
Salman Rushdie, Midnight’s Children

“That it really began in the days when the Love Laws were made. The laws that lay down who should be loved, and how.

And how much.”

“And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.”
Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore

“The great enemy of clear language is insincerity. When there is a gap between one’s real and one’s declared aims, one turns as it were instinctively to long words and exhausted idioms, like a cuttlefish spurting out ink.”
George Orwell, Politics and the English Language
