Perspective
I’m currently working on my book Panama Red that comes out at the end of October 2021. I finished the first draft a couple weeks ago. It’s been a different process for me than the other books. First, the thriller genre requires plot elements that must work in the ‘real’ world, more or less. With the Sci-Fi books I had complete control of the universe, including the history and events.
Panama Red is set in Panama, Central America in 1988. A time and place in history that is what it is and was what it was. It’s also a different journey for me, as I was there in 1988. The process of writing the book is bringing back memories that I had not allowed myself to dwell on. Not good or bad, just stuff that happened and things I did that were wholly and completely different from how the world works today.
I find myself drawn back; experiencing a warm comfortable feeling when writing Panama Red, even though the story is not warm, comfortable, or inviting. Its remarkably interesting and something I have not experienced before.
