Private Dancer

Surprise!  I have another new book coming out Dec. 20, 2012.  It’s called Private Dancer, and this one’s pure erotica.  Okay, I had to throw a bit of romance in there, too, but it’s not a traditional erotic romance.  Warning:  This is not for the feint of heart or the politically correct.  Hot, hot, hot!

Private Dancer

Torn between two worlds, Alicia struggles to find a way to walk with her faith, but still dance with sin.

When Alicia gets caught in the conflict between her father’s church and the Satin Club owners Bas and Remy, she is the only person willing to act as a mediator. Alicia is intrigued by the high class gentleman’s club and its two sexy proprietors. She tries to stay impartial, but the sensuality of erotic dancing pulls at her, begging her to indulge.

Bas and Remy are more than happy to satisfy her curiosities and secret desires. Both offer dark temptations she can’t resist and the provocative dancing and passion awaken something long repressed. For the first time, the preacher’s daughter feels like her own person – yet at her core, she’s still a good girl. As the tension between the warring parties reaches fever pitch, she struggles to find what is right for her.

More info will be coming soon.

Seeing double

Everywhere I go, I keep seeing twins these days.  When I was on vacation last month, I not only ran into a set of identical twins (adult women) but also a set of identical triplets.  The three little boys were blond and so cute.  I saw one and then his twin.  When a third came running around the corner, I just about stopped in my tracks.  Last night when I was handing out candy, I had twin trick-or-treaters.  One little girl was a princess and her sister was a superhero.  It made me think of a little Lexie and a little Roxie, definitely.  Who will I run into next?

Release Day for LEXIE!!

It’s finally here!  LEXIE is available now as an ebook download.

Desire is a double-edged da nce.

LEXIE
Triple X, Book 1

Lexie Underhill works her tail off in hopes of winning her adoptive father’s approval. It’s never enough. The stinging proof? He’s brought in a reorganization expert. As if the prospect of losing her job in the family business isn’t enough, Cameron Rowe’s sexy, intimidating presence makes her palms sweat.

When Lexie’s face appears on a scandalous freeway billboard, her protestations of innocence go unheard. With orders to save the family name—or else—she marches into the bar the billboard was advertising and comes face-to-face with an identical twin sister. Roxie is wild and free, everything Lexie isn’t. Before the night is out, she welcomes the chance to explore her own sensuality.

As she dances wantonly on the bar, suddenly Cam is there, kissing her as if he has the right. The sizzle between them breaks out in four-alarm desire, but Lexie has recalibrated her life plan. And the equation doesn’t factor in Cam—until she’s sure where his loyalties lie. With her…or her father’s company.

LEXIE reviews

So exciting.  Only 3 days until Lexie releases and reviews have been great!  I can’t wait until everyone can read it.  I think you’ll like it.  :-)

Library Journal:  “Wrap your ereader in a waterproof bag, because this has all the elements of a perfect beach read: the rich, dysfunctional family, corporate shenanigans, secret adoptions, unknown siblings, and hot romance that involves sleeping with the business enemy. Summer romance books don’t get much more fun than this.” http://bit.ly/R9VOKE

The Book Reading Gals:  “The sparks between Cam and Lexie are hot enough to light your kindle on fire and keep you tuned in to the story to see how it pans out.”  http://bit.ly/WPNtx

Countdown is on

October is finally here.  Only 3 more weeks until LEXIE releases!

The latest review from The Book Reading Gals says that “The sparks between Cam and Lexie are hot enough to light your Kindle on fire.”

Just for fun, here’s another short excerpt.

Excerpt from LEXIE

Available Oct. 23 from Samhain Publishing

“What do you think of me, Lexie?  Really?”

Her gaze locked with his, and he saw something new in the dark depths.  Something that made his heart rate slow down, and the thick pumps sound loudly in his ears.

“You make me uncomfortable,” she said, her voice low.

“Uncomfortable, how?”

Her teeth bit into her bottom lip, and her gaze skittered away.  “Just… uncomfortable.”

The awareness he’d felt on the elevator came back, heavy and deep.  It was the first indication he’d had that she saw him not as a threat, but as a man.

He wanted another.

But he didn’t know when he’d ever get it.

She was skittish around him.  Guarded.  The closest he could get to her was in meetings.  Stuffy, mind-numbing meetings.  Right now, her defenses were down.  He couldn’t.  He shouldn’t, but he wanted to know…

He reached for her.

Ever so gently, he ran his fingertips down her bare arm… all the way from shoulder to elbow…  As he watched, goose bumps popped up on the warm flesh.  She shivered and her breath caught.  When she looked at him, her gaze was a little wild.

“You make me uncomfortable, too,” he said gruffly.

They watched each other, the music throbbing and the air hazy around them.

“Really uncomfortable.”

Closing the distance, he sank into her.  He watched her closely as their bodies pressed from chest to knee.  The heat was intimate, the contact electric.  For a moment, she was stunned still.  Then all those emotions she’d kept tempered for so long rushed forward to meet him.  Her anger.  Her heat.  Her sweetness.  He felt it in the way her body softened.  He heard it in the catch in the back of her throat.

“Lexie.”  He kissed her.  Firmly, fully, mouth-locked-on-mouth.  He sealed their lips tight and the sensation was so good, it damn near made him groan aloud.

Her lips were soft, velvety, and they clung.  The kiss deepened, their mouths opening wider for more contact.  For a woman who was as strapped in and lashed down as she was, she knew how to kiss.

And then some.

That hard-on he’d gotten when he’d seen her dancing atop the bar came roaring back to life.  He kissed her harder, letting his tongue slide against hers.  A sound left her throat and her fingers bit into his shoulders.  He did it again, loving her heat, loving the way she responded.  She moved restlessly, her body grinding against his.  Softness against hardness.  Heat against heat.

Cam wanted to pick her up and carry her right out to his car.  He could feel her nipples pressing against him and her hips shifting sexily.  Her arousal was like every other emotion the alcohol had freed.  Hot, immediate, and right on the surface.

What had started as an exploratory kiss was quickly turning into a blistering hot make-out session.  They were hidden together in the corner.  Music pounded around them and bodies shifted nearby.  They were in public.  Anyone could see them.

And he didn’t care.

Story ideas: Lexie

Writers take their story ideas from a lot of places.  At times, they don’t even know where the ideas originated.  For my upcoming release, Lexie, I went back to a topic that’s fascinated me for a long time.  Twins.

In school, my class was packed with multiples.  I can recall five pairs of twins and one set of triplets, most of them fraternal.  Then there were the identical ones.  Since I grew up with them, I could always tell them apart, but what must it be like to go through life with someone so like you?  Someone who is always at your side?  And has your face?  Is it comforting or frustrating?

The University of Minnesota is a forerunner in research into twins.  In 1979, TJ Bouchard started conducting research into twins reared apart.  It’s led to some really interesting findings that not only address the subject of nature versus nurture, but have also been useful in the study of medicine.  See more about the Minnesota Center for Twin and Family Research here, particularly the study of twins reared apart.  I went to a presentation once by a researcher in this department and absolutely loved it.  Identical twins were similar in odd ways.  For example, when pictures of them were analyzed, twins often chose the same hairstyles and body types.  What was most interesting to me, though, was the similarity in their poses — and they seemed to be doing it subconsciously.

So that’s where the idea for Lexie started.  It’s the story of long-lost identical sisters reuniting.  I loved doing the research for this book, so I’ll probably share a few more interesting links in subsequent posts. I hope you find the topic as intriguing as I do.

So what about you?  Have you known any sets of twins?  What similarities did you notice between them, besides just their looks?  Or are they totally different, despite their shared genes?

Resurfacing

I’ve been in the writing cave for the past month or so, working hard to meet a deadline.  When that happens, everything else tends to fall by the wayside.  Important things like going to the gym, cleaning the house, sleeping and writing blogs…  I’m only now getting back into the swing of real life.  It helps to get a story out of my head and down on paper.  This is a new project I haven’t spoken about much, but details will be coming soon.  Just a tease — I’m venturing back into writing erotica!

So now I”m looking at my writing calendar and trying to figure out what to work on next.  So many fun things in the works.  I hope you all have been enjoying Blade of Moonlight and Wicked.  Start looking for Lexie.  It’s coming out in October, which isn’t that far away!
