Excerpt from Courting Danger #MFRWAuthor

Courting Danger, coming October 29
Too soon, they were in Luxxor’s parking lot. Rielle saw her SUV, grey and unassuming, waiting for her. Mel got out of the car and rounded it to get her door.
His hand was warm and callused as it took hers once again to help her to her feet. Her dress flared out, tangling amongst their legs, but she simply laughed.
She smiled up at him. ‘Thank you. It really has been the best night of my life.’
They were standing at the verge of the streetlight’s luminosity. It barely reached them, but she saw his blue eyes spark.
‘There’s just one thing that would make it better,’ he said, his voice low.
He gave her a moment, a split second to process and decide. And then he moved in.
His head dipped, and his lips covered hers. Those raging hormones inside Rielle leaped. It wasn’t a polite first kiss or even a kiss that sought a reaction. It was the full-blooded, mind-blowing kiss of a man who knew how to touch a woman.
And wanted to.
He didn’t overpower, and he didn’t push. He simply wrapped his strong arms around her and pulled her close. Closer than they’d been on the dance floor. Their bodies were flush. Her breasts were plumped hard against his chest, and his hips burrowed into the notch between her legs. One of his hands slid under her hair, and he cupped the back of her neck as his mouth . . .
There was no other way to describe it. He made love to her mouth in a slow, deep kiss that shot to hell all her preconceived notions of intimacy.
The ache inside her began to pulse. It was hungry, needy, demanding.

Let’s Go Courting #ScintillatingSunday
A Scintillating Excerpt from Courting Danger
But she’d already trusted him enough not to have Security remove him. Enough to agree to go out with him. Enough to strip down and change in a room right next to him. These were no little things.
She pulled her hair aside. “Could you zip me up?”
His breath was warm against her bare spine. “I can do that.”
Rielle closed her eyes. She hadn’t wanted him to know she wasn’t wearing a bra. She hadn’t even wanted him guessing, but she hadn’t been able to devise another way around the problem.
He stepped up close, and she felt his size. She began trembling again and her muscles tensed. He caught the tab of the zipper and tugged the flaps of material together to cover her. His touch between her shoulder blades was warm and confident, but that was as far as he went. He pulled up on the tab, and the bodice closed snugly around her.
She cast a quick glance down. Her breasts weren’t bulging out of the neckline, but they did fill out the dress. It fit her like a glove, even if her nipples were perking up and stiffening – but that had nothing to do with her clothes.
She couldn’t ignore how solid he felt behind her. Next to him, she felt delicate and defenseless. If she stepped back, she’d tuck right under his chin.
Her eyelids popped open, and she stepped forward. She was not defenseless. She quickly let her hair drop back into place. “Thank you.”

Written in the Stars
This past weekend, I went to a Psychic Fair. I love testing out how different kinds of readings work. This time, I chose to have my astrological chart done. The woman started reading my results. She went very fast, so you’ll have to forgive me if I don’t use the correct terms. Anyway, one of the items in my major house was sex. She said it in a very hushed voice and looked at me closely. I kept quiet, but thought “hmm, maybe there’s something to this.”
She continued on, reading my results in another area, and once again came upon the “s” word. She kind of coughed over it this time and gave me a side-long look. I couldn’t take it any longer. I could just see the thoughts going through her head! I blurted out, “I write romance novels. Lots of them.” The expression on her face was priceless. Then she started laughing. I started laughing and soon everyone was looking at us.
It all fit together then. The focus on sex and the strengths that showed up in my communication field. She had some exciting predictions about my future, which I’m looking forward to.
These are interesting times, she said, with two eclipses, the autumnal equinox, and a super blood moon all happening within a few weeks of one another. Pluto is squared off with Uranus, which causes stress, but don’t worry. That’s only supposed to last through 2017. Hang in there!
And yes, after our hearty laugh together, I’m sending her a book. I think Dream Man will be perfect for her.

Aromatherapy for Sleep
It seems everyone has sleep problems these days. Whether caused by medical problems, stress, a poor sleep environment or other factors, the effects on daytime mental and physical performance are significant. Commercials seem to pop up every evening for pills to help one sleep. These tend to address the effects of sleeplessness, but some homeopathic practitioners suggest targeting the source. They recommend using scent to sooth and reduce stress. Try the following essential oils and see if it helps your night’s rest:
Lavender – add a drop or two to your pillow
Vetiver – add a drop or two to a warm bath
Sandalwood – place a drop on your wrist and massage it in
Marjoram – a massage oil that’s known for its calming effects
If you are having persistent sleep problems, it’s best to see your doctor.

The Sounds of Sleepwalking
Authors are often asked what inspired their stories, and sometimes songs can trigger ideas. Other times, authors will develop a playlist of music they listen to while writing a book. It can help them get into the vibe of the story. I had the opposite occur to me. The song came after I was finished with the book.
It was a really strange case of coincidence. I had just finished Dream Walker and was attending an outdoor art and music festival when a band started playing a really moody, dreamy instrumental. I asked somebody if they knew the name of the song, because I immediately fell in love with it. What was the name of the song? Sleepwalk.
I just about fell over.
The song was a hit in 1959 – before my time – by Santo & Johnny. It’s amazing how well the mood of the song fits the romance between my characters, Shea and Derek. Then again, both the song and the book had the same inspiration of sleepwalking. We just took different forms of expression.
Here’s a link to the song on YouTube.
Have you ever experienced a coincidence like that? Has a song come on the radio that exactly expressed your mood? Ever been facing a big day and been awakened by a song telling you that “tonight’s gonna be a good night”?

Celebrating the Last Book of the Executive Wives’ Club Series, #freebook, #romance
Today, I’m hosting Tina Gayle. She is very excited about the last book in her Executive Wives’ Club series. To get readers interested in the series, she is offering the first book “Marketing Exec’s Widow” #free from Oct. 3 – 7. CEO’s Widow comes out Oct. 8, but can be picked up now on pre-order.
Executives’ Wives’ Club series
Genre: Contemporary Romance with strong women fiction elements
Four women…
One fatal car wreck…
Everyone’s lives changed…
Marketing Exec’s Widow
Jennifer Larson, having lost her husband, friends and the perfect life she’d had plan, now faces the biggest challenge of her life, moving into an unplanned future. While the rest of the Executive Wife Club is still wallowing in the past, Jen is tempted into the future by a sexy chiropractor, Hagan Chaney.
But does he really love her or is he only after her money?
CEO’s Widow
Facing the possibility of having breast cancer, Marianne must decide if she wants to give love another chance and build a future with whatever time she may have left.
Excerpt from CEO’s Widow
Incapable of resisting, Marianne set a hand on his chest and absorbed the pleasure of being in this man’s arms again. Too bad the bliss couldn’t last longer. He needed to get back to work. She had errands to run. “Knox, you’re making it harder and harder to resist you.”
“Then don’t. We’ve both had more than enough time to know what we want. Jack and Betty both died almost two years ago. We needed to move on.” He caressed a hand along her back, easing her body even closer to the hard line of his.
Marianne smiled. She’d known him for years as her husband’s boss and respected for all he’d accomplished in the business world. Her hang-up over their age difference grew less and less important as more time passed. “Shouldn’t we at least date a few other people first? Test the water. Make sure we’re not making a mistake by latching onto the first person we’re attracted to.”
“Good, so you admit you find me attractive?” He lowered his head and nuzzled the side of her neck, playfully nipping at her ear.
She sighed. His tantalizing touch and the deep rumble of his voice tempted her into sliding her hand along the back of his neck. Her fingers slid through his silky hair, and she marveled at sensual thrill of being so close to him. For months now, she’d convinced herself her life was full enough with just her kids and grandkids.
Could she be wrong?

Dream Walker Bonus Excerpt #paranormal #romance
Welcome to everyone on the Paranormal Romance Blog Hop. Here’s an excerpt from my new book, Dream Walker.
Dream Weavers, Book 2
Genre: Paranormal Erotic Romance
She looked at him bemusedly. “I took a course in Greek mythology when I was an undergrad. Do you know the story of the Oneiroi, Derek?”
She felt the energy gather in him. It practically swirled around the bed. “I’m familiar with it,” he said carefully.
The power coming off him was heady. Shea inhaled, absorbing it as her mind went back. “They were dark-winged daemons sent up by gods from a cavern on the shore of the ocean near Hades. When they appeared to humans, it was in their sleep. The Oneiroi could take whatever shape they wished, but true dreams emerged from a gate made of horn while false dreams came from a gate made of ivory.”
He cleared his throat. “Something like that.”
“They were said to rule over sexual dreams most of all.”
The room seemed to shrink, and Shea felt him everywhere they touched. If anyone ruled her sexual dreams, it was him. She cleared her throat. “Anyway, the mother of the Oneiroi was said to be Night, or Nyx.”
He edged closer. “What do you think of all that?”
“The coincidence is fascinating. Derek Dream,” she said, caught up in the whole idea of it. The mysticality. The sensuality. Slowly, she shook her head. He probably thought she was silly.
