LAUNCH THE INDIE GUIDE TO INDIE PUBLISHING KICKSTARTER UPDATE

The Indie Guide to Indie Publishing is number 3 on the popular projects publishing list on Kickstarter! We've crested 10%, but we still have a long way to go, and if we don't make $8, we don't get a penny of it. If you know anyone who has ever talked about publishing a book, be it a novel, a comic, a collection of poetry, or a series of paintings, please send them along. Or share it on your twitter and see who surprises you.

Here's the link again: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/matterdeep/the-indie-guide-to-indie-publishing

MATTER DEEP PUBLISHING TO LAUNCH THE INDIE GUIDE TO INDIE PUBLISHING-- AND WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Matter Deep Publishing is launching The Indie Guide to Indie Publishing. I am excited to be a part of this with some incredibly creative people and we would love to have you join us in this exciting new project. Check it out at Kickstarter and pledge to make it a reality.

A step-by-step guide to indie publishing from people who have been there and done that.

The Indie Guide to Indie Publishing is a tool, a step-by-step guide to publishing your independent book. Each article is written by an experienced authority from the independent world, and the book includes an index and glossary to help aspiring authors and publishers along the way.

In a way, it seems like the perfect project for the Kickstarter spirit. Kickstarter is about putting control into the hands of the consumer. You fund the projects you want to see made. Independent publishing follows that same ideal. Indie publishing puts the power of content creation in your hands. The Indie Guide to Indie Publishing cannot prescribe commercial success, but it can make the ins-and-outs of formatting, distribution, and marketing less of a mystery.

This book will have:
Nine (9) writers with experience publishing and promoting independent work.
An alphabetical glossary of terms you need to know for publishing success.
An index for quick reference and trouble-shooting.
A list of useful resources and references for further research.

These are the topics for the base project (before stretch goals) in no particular order:

Editing and Quality Control
Formatting Your eBook
Print Layout
Cover Art
Print-on-Demand v Short Run Printing
Author Sites
Getting Reviews
Pitching Bloggers
Social Media Marketing
Events and Signings
Awards and Accolades
Audio Books

Involved with the project are Blake Northcott, Kiri Callaghan, Bobby Nash, Dave Wheeler, Carly Strickland, JL Bryan, Kyle Strickland, Teal Haviland, and Amy Leigh Strickland are launching the Indie Guide to Indie Publishing on Kickstarter. Back us for sweet rewards!

-----

This is my first Kickstarter backed project. I’m excited to be part of this and I’m curious to experience Kickstarter firsthand.

To all those interested in pledging, you have my eternal gratitude.

THE TWO GREATEST WORDS A WRITER CAN TYPE...

The End.

Not actual coverNot a large word count achieved today as I was out doing a book signing and podcast today at Needless Things Live!, which was a nice get-out-of-the-office break that I really needed. Thanks again to The Phantom Troublemaker for the invite.

I did roughly 800 words tonight, but that enough to type those two greatest words as I finished up the first of three media tie-in stories and got it emailed it off to the publisher. More news on this when I can talk about it. I also added some words to my Fight Card novel, Barefoot Bones, which is also nearing the finish line.

Today was definitely a good day.
Tomorrow, I’m back at it.

Fun times.

NEEDLESS THINGS LIVE! THE WRAP UP!

(L-R): Jay Hornsby, The Phantom Troublemaker, Beau Brown, Bobby Nash. I had a great time at the Needless Things live podcast and book signing/art show at Odin’s Comics in Lilburn, GA today. The Phantom Troublemaker and Beau Brown hosted the event in Odin’s all-new Media Room. In addition to me, Jay Hornsby (The Belligerent Monkey) was on hand with his art. You can see some of it in the photos.

Thanks to everyone who came out to say hello and to those who hung out and listened as we recorded. We had a fun time discussing all things dorkery, our introduction into fandom, toys, movies, games, DC Comics, and wondered why aren’t there more all-ages books out there. The podcast will go live in a couple days. I will share news here when it is available. As always, click on images for a larger view.

Learn more about Needless Things here.

Also, thanks again to Phantom for inviting me out.

It was a fun day.

Bobby
