WRITING OUTDOORS!

Writing outside today to enjoy the cooler temps. Instead of showing my POV this time, the shot above is of my outdoor set up. Cozy and comfortable.

The photo at left is what I see when sitting here.

UPDATES...

I had a good writing day today.

I finished up a short story and sent it on ts way to the editors. Nothing more I can say about it as yet. I also did some work on a comic script as well. I capped the night off with a trip to the gym, something I've been doing the past 5 weeks. The ultimate goal is to lose some weight, which hasn't happened yet, but I have noticed that my clothes fit a bit better. And yes, I know the lack of weight loss is because muscle weighs more than fat. Just wanted to toss that out there because every time I say it, someone tells me that. Just trying to head it off at the pass.  :)

It was a good, long day, but I'm tired so I think it's time to push away from the computer for a bit and see what TV shows I've got sitting on the DVR.

Just a reminder that Dragon Con is coming up this week so I'll be out of regular contact from Thursday, August 28th through Tuesday, September 2nd. Hopefully, I'll be able to upload pics to Instagram from my crappy camera phone.

INTO THE WILD...

My writing view today.Hot outside, but there's a breeze so I'm taking the writing outside for a bit. Just needed to get outdoors for a bit. I do so enjoy writing outside. Today, I'm putting the finishing touches on a pulpy p.i. story and will jump back to finish up Snow Storm as well. There's still a lot to do before Dragon Con starts on Thursday.

I hope you're having a great weekend.

A WRITING SNEAK PEEK!

Doing some writing today. I can't really say much about the project yet as the publisher hasn't announced it, but it was put together by a talented writer and editor whose work I've admired for years. I'm having fun with the story and look forward to finishing it up tonight or tomorrow. It's my favorite genre as well, crime fiction with a pulpy flair. That's always a fun sandbox to play in. I'll say more about the project when I can.

Here's a sneak peek at today's work. It's all first draft so this might change a bit between now and when it sees print.

Enjoy.

I held up a finger so he wouldn’t reach for the weapon he no doubt carried. I hadn’t come to this little meeting unarmed and I doubt he did either. I pointed toward my pocket and slowly, carefully reached inside and pulled out an envelope I had folded in half and tucked inside. “You mean this?”

“Hand it over.”

“Well, you see, that’s the things,” I said, stalling for time. “I was hired by my client to get this information. I really shouldn’t hand it over to anyone but her.”

He sneered.

“I mean, how would you feel if you hired me and I gave the goods over to someone else just on their say so. I’ve got a reputation to uphold, you know. A p.i. who can’t be trusted is an unemployed p.i. and I’ve gotten kind of used to living indoors. I’m sure you understand.”

He didn’t.

THAT'S "CAPTAIN PLOTTY PANTS" TO YOU, SOLDIER!

Looks like I've been promoted to Captain.  :)

I knew when I posted the "Plotty Pants" story on author Y.I. Washington's blog yesterday that something like this would happen. Thanks to author Lisa Matthews Collins for this one, which she shared with me on Facebook today. It made me laugh.

That's Phantom Troublemaker and Judy Faber in the photo with me.
Photo courtesy of Geek Behind The Lens Photography's Nikki Rau-Baker. She's a whiz with catching me laughing.
