New cover for Beyond the Waters of the World

My cover artist, Lou Harper, has finished the cover for the second book of Looking Through Lace, Beyond the Waters of the World.

Beyond the Waters of the World

So what do folks think? I haven’t finalized yet, so some tweaking could still be done if anyone has any suggestions. Do let me know in the comments! And thanks in advance. :)

Results of BookBub ad in the UK for Chameleon in a Mirror

Last year, 2015, I sold an average of 8 books a month in the UK. As many of you know who read this blog, I had a UK only BookBub ad for my literary time travel, Chameleon in a Mirror, earlier this month. Right now I have 124 sales and 6205 pages read across all titles in the UK. Last month, it was 4 sales and 1235 pages read, total.

Here are the best UK rankings I saw during the sale for CIAM:

Amazon Bestsellers Rank: #781 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)

Increased word counts and Ygerna at the wedding banquet for #WIPpet Wednesday

With my last big promo push over, I’m happy to say that my word counts are steadily increasing. For the last week. I’ve been getting between 700-900 words a day written — with the exception of Saturday, which was the father-in-law’s 90th birthday. :)

The new year is getting off to a good start so far. The two book promos at the beginning of the month were very effective as well. I will post more on that in a separate marketing post for those who are curious.

With that brief update out of th...

String of Pearls: An Alternative Way to Create a Story – via creativescreenwriting

I stumbled across this post today, and I liked it so much, I have to share:

String of Pearls: An Alternative Way to Create a Story

I’ve mentioned before on this blog that I regard myself as a “puzzler” rather than a pantser or a plotter. And I find this “string of pearls” description very helpful for the way I work. I tend to jump back and forth a lot in my WIPs — and the scenes I write first are probably the “pearls.”

Even if they get deleted in the final draft. *g*

Flash fiction “Osiana” published on DSF

Last year, I got back to submitting some short stories I wrote with the late Jay Lake. The first in a series of flash fiction pieces which will be appearing in Daily Science Fiction came out today, “Osiana.”

The characters of the stories in “The Tales of the Rose Knights” are all named after roses. Here is the real Osiana:

Hope you enjoy this story and those to follow!

Happy New Year! And some new goals and old

Happy New Year, everyone! For New Years, we took the granddaughters to a bridge across the Neckar, where we had a great view of fireworks in all directions. We shot about 30 Euros worth into the air ourselves. Here’s one:

Fireworks above the Neckar

2016 is getting off to a pretty decent start, as far as far as production goes. My word counts are steadily increasing, and I’m hoping to up them even more. I don’t know how much translation projects will cut into my writing time, but I am (once again) going to try to find...
