2024 Has been A Crazy Year!
It started off with COVID knocking me down for three months and ended with back-to-back hurricanes! There were great new family beginnings—a February engagement celebration, a wedding dress try on with our future daughter-in-law, planning a 2025 rehearsal dinner, my nephew’s 50th milestone birthday dinner—and difficult family good-byes with the loss of my ninety-year-old father-in-law.Continue reading "2024 Has been A Crazy Year!"

She Soars Scores RPLA Gold!
On October 19, we enjoyed a fun night at the FWA’s 2024 Florida WritersCon in Altamonte Springs, FL, just outside of my old Orlando stomping grounds. My nonfiction book, She Soars: Trailblazing Female Pilots in Florida (Pineapple Press, 2024) received a Gold Award in the Royal Palm Literary Award competition in its History category! JustContinue reading "She Soars Scores RPLA Gold!"

“The End” Is Just Another Beginning!
For many writers, writing is hard work. Lots of research, writing, revising, rewriting, and editing. Once you write, “THE END”, on your manuscript, you may rethink parts of it or be asked to rewrite portions of it for an agent or editor. And when the book is finally published, it’s not “THE END”, but theContinue reading "“The End” Is Just Another Beginning!"

Go with the Creative Flow
Recently, I enjoyed an amazing visit with my friend, Linda, to the Imagination Museum in St. Pete, FL. Every gallery was a feast for the eyes of gorgeous contemporary glass art from artists within and outside of the US. These astonishing work were created from kilns, molds, blown glass, and even using explosives! The museumContinue reading "Go with the Creative Flow"

Legal Issues Plague Fictionalized Story-Telling!
In recent months, Netflix has faced a flurry of lawsuits over fictionalizing “real life” stories that allegedly impact an individual’s right of publicity, injuring one’s reputation through defamation, or other claimed harms. The lawsuits involved some of the streaming services top content, including Baby Reindeer, Inventing Anna, and Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTokContinue reading "Legal Issues Plague Fictionalized Story-Telling!"

Sunday is Unboxing Day!
Excited to receive a delivery this afternoon of my author copies of Dark of the Day: Eclipse Stories (Down and Out Books). In my story, two teenagers explore a local man’s claim that a time portal will open at a hamburger joint’s dumpster during a full solar eclipse with unexpected results. The anthology of sixteenContinue reading "Sunday is Unboxing Day!"

Get Those Solar Glasses Ready!
Do you remember the last full solar eclipse visible throughout the US? It was on Aug. 21, 2017. I do because I love watching celestial events and enjoy evenings peering through my backyard telescope. I’m no astronomer, but I am in total awe of the cosmos. I even published a short story, Open House, inContinue reading "Get Those Solar Glasses Ready!"

COVID Got Me!
To start off 2024, January was a real rollercoaster of a month with good and bad news at every turn. I managed to get my nonfiction book, She Soars: Trailblazing Female Pilots in Florida, off to Pineapple Press a month early, and had a few frustrating rounds of trying to provide photos that met theirContinue reading "COVID Got Me!"

A Christmas “Whodunit?” Mystery
Who doesn’t love a mystery? I’ve been a huge fan of whodunits since childhood, especially old school mysteries like Sherlock Homes or Agatha Christie’s parlor mysteries. My late parents loved mysteries, too. We were all glued to our TV for “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” or PBS Masterpiece Mystery, loving seasons of Miss Marple, Hercule Poirot, andContinue reading "A Christmas “Whodunit?” Mystery"
