3 Truths About Trashing a Truth

Can I tell you a story about a when I devalued something that held heaps of wisdom and truth that I completely missed at the time?

A few months ago, while clearing out my father's garage filled with nearly 50 years of 'stuff' for an upcoming move for my parents into a new house, we came across alllllll sorts of my old artwork. Touched as I was that my dad had held onto my drawings and paintings as though they were treasures, I told him they were mostly worthless learning assignments and I barely gave them a glance as I chucked them all into a big blue trash bin.

I saw dad's pained face at how swiftly I let them all go and I marvelled that he had held onto some artwork even from my high school days before art school. I gave him a warm hug and said

"Dad it's time to let it all go, if I'm meant to have this stuff it will come back to me."

Fast forward 4 months later and I receive a message from my mom telling me that a woman had contacted her after discovering a black portfolio from my high school days tossed in the forest near her home. Perhaps someone had retrieved it from the blue bin and discarded it again. My parent's last name was on the portfolio so this woman had looked my parents up to see if they wanted the portfolio returned.

Of course, my parents went to retrieve the artwork and were stunned to find that the woman's home was right nearby the very first home I lived in.

Like a full circle my discarded artwork had come 'home' to me.

Sensing that this was for a reason, my parents reached out to me on a video call to show me the art pieces that resurfaced. There were a few paintings and doodles and then, my heart stopped, to see a poster I created in tenth grade with the quote by Graham Greene in BIG BOLD LETTERS speaking directly to me saying:

"DESTRUCTION AFTER ALL IS A FORM OF CREATION"

Sketched beneath these words I had set a baby bird being born, cracking out of an egg. I held my breath and asked my dad to hold onto that piece.

Taking it all in, and reflecting on what my soul is here to share in the world, how the seemingly broken and destroyed pieces of our lives hold so many creative potentials and the only thing I'm pulled to do is to help people to uncover and activate this.

,It was clear that even when I tried to throw the Divine Truth of what I came here to share and be away, it found its way - MIRACULOUSLY - back home.

3 key truths became clear to me about the moments when we blindly throw the truth away, often unknowingly, because we're so busy to see it.

Key #1

Truth that is meant to guide us and speak into our lives can not and will not be discarded. Even if we move on and think "this isn't important anymore", the Divine Intelligence has a much higher/wider/expansive view than our little personalities do, and will bring a truth right back to us should we throw it away. This is a relief as we can't mess up ultimately. The truth will prevail.

Key #2

While it may take day, weeks, months, years or decades, a truth that has been trashed will always find the way back home to our hearts. I remember in my early 20's leaving organised religion (church life in bible-belt Alberta where I grew up) when I saw the abuse of power and finally called out a pastor who was clearly taking advantage of young women only to find the congregation turn against me for speaking the truth of what was happening.

After throwing everything to do with church and faith away for decade or so, the love-filled Higher Truths that were woven into the Essence of that faith popped up anew to birth my renewed heart based spirituality outside of organized religion. Quite like seedlings breaking the hardened ground of my heart, to bloom fully and be expressed fearlessly into who I am today.

Key #3

When a truth returns, it brings deeper meaning, wisdom and validation to us. Suddenly, we see things more clearly, having lived and experienced more so that the truth now speaks directly to our Being-ness. When I read that Graham Greene quote anew I was so moved to see that a deeper part of me must have known that one day, I would do the work that I do with so many described so perfectly in that exact quote.

As I stared at my drawing of that bird breaking through that egg, a seemingly impossible thing for such a weak and scrawny looking creature, I thought about how I had to live so long feeling so helpless only to learn the very tools that I now share and teach as a Creative Healer.

Dear Creative One, if you feel as though you have thrown a precious truth away, never worry, because it will come back to you - miraculously and in the 'just right' timing - to reflect more of the amazing being you are directly back to you!

You truly are a wonder-filled creation - and that is a truth that will never be discarded or trashed...not ever. ,Big love,,XC

3 Unexpected Lessons of Self-Love When You Write a Book!

Corry MacDonald Life In Full Colors: Unlock Your Childlike Curiosity to Uncover and Activate the Creative Intelligence You Are

Today is the New Year New Moon and the official launch date of my first book Life in Full Colors: Uncover your Childlike Curiosity and Uncover and Activate the Creative Intelligence you are available on Amazon.

As I woke and reflected on my book writing journey over these past many, many moons I realized that while bringing the idea of a book into form is amazing, it's the journey and all the lessons along the way that have brought me to a deeper love for who I am.

The first unexpected lesson of self-love centred around finding and trusting my own voice. This is a natural outcome of writing for anyone, of course. Yet, outside of the pages of my book I discovered myself on an unexpected journey towards finding my voice.

When the first team I hired to help me on my book journey made it clear through their mode of operating that I had ignored my intuition which - from the beginning - was waving myriad red-flags at me, I had to love and forgive myself and adjust.

Keeping myself away from the source of unhealthy energy and speaking up revealed that my intuition was indeed lovingly guiding me through deeper lessons in this challenging situation. Lessons around trusting myself and using my voice to speak my truth - regardless of the outbursts and reactivity that came in response. This mis-match lead me right out of an outmoded pattern of ignoring key signals of 'Not a match!' so that I could take responsibility, grow my grit and get crystal clear on the specific qualities I needed in my book publishing team.

The whole situation became another opportunity for a 'real life run through' of the 7 steps which I teach in the book to leverage heavy situations into light, wisdom and new potentials.

This is how it goes, we teach what we need to learn most. So, if you're somebody thinking of writing a book to teach, share or express yourself in any form of writing - fiction, non-fiction, children's book, short stories, poetry, even magazines - I can definitely recommend my skilled team at Presstinely! Women who handle everything exquisitely only after listening deeply to their author's vision and needs. Look them up, and you will see/feel/sense exactly what I mean - even from their website.

A second lesson of self love that surprised and changed me in my book writing journey was letting go of timelines and trusting that everything happens in the 'just right' timing. I lost track of how many deadlines came and went without the book going anywhere - or so it appeared on the surface. Things moved along in 'just right' timing. As each deadline rolled by, I had a strong inner knowing it was for the highest good of all, but I couldn't say why exactly. Looking back, I could see clearly from a wider perspective why things appeared to take more time.

During each of these missed timelines, there were some BIG events taking place in my personal life: an international move from Dubai to Brussels that took 4 months to complete due to COVID-19 regulations fluctuating, helping my parents sell their home of fifty years, decluttering half a century of 'stuff', and moving them into their new home of their dreams, plus all the daily life events in between.

To fall back into the arms of Life and let everything come and go while allowing for the timelines that Life designs is such a loving gift we can give ourselves each moment of each day.

Even today, the official day of my book launch, I had two Livestream events planned for Instagram and Facebook and 10 minutes before the first one began the wifi at the house completely stopped working. I watched it all shut down from a higher place, trusted the timing and took a quieter approach to the day in gratitude, enjoying a much needed nap and time with my family. Not unlike what happens when you 'birth' a child, a new book launching into the world takes a whole lot of energy. So, a nap and quiet day seemed just right to me on launch day. We can choose to respond rather than react to such 'interesting timings'.

Finally, the third and most surprising lesson is the HUGE wave of self-love that flowed in upon my dream of writing my first book being realized. See, big dreams can, at times, seem nearly impossible. Yet, when backed by the Creator, they are never realized alone. As Joseph Campbell said, there are helpers who appear along the way. These realized dreams of ours reflect back to us our amazing human capacity to co create and manifest with Universal Forces. Ultimately, such moments fill us with the knowing that anything is possible and we are never left stranded to birth our dreams on our own.

What a gift to know this, not only with the head, but with all my being. Each time Life opens me to experience this through another dream coming through into reality I receive waves of love which rise up to move in and through me.

This powerful love is to be shared. It's why we are here. We didn't come just for all the doing and the busy stuff. We all share in our deep knowing that the foundation of it all is love.

So, dear Creative One, if you tucked in because you think "I just might write a book one day" you now know, while your book will be a gift to us ALL to have your beautiful unique expression in print,it is also a surprisingly beautiful act of self-love.

Big love,
XC

3 Ways to Create Clarity & Calm for Your Holiday Season

It's that time of the year again for celebrating! Whether your family celebrates Solstice, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, or Bodhi Day there's much 'coming together' with friends and family at this time of the year worldwide. Of course it will likely take a new shape for this particular year with COVID-19 shifting everything in new ways.

We all in our different traditions can come together in our shared experience of 2020 as an intense time of having the shadows in our life journeys brought to the light during our isolation. Where busyness and rushing through set routines covered up the 'heavier stuff' before COVID, being at home in lockdown for lengths of time made these aspects visible and highly felt. It's been a whole lot to process emotionally.

The thing is, processing heavy emotions for the light, intelligence and wisdom they hold is NOT a subject typically taught to us growing up. I definitely didn't receive that course in my schooling and lacking it wreaked havoc on my calm and clarity before I discovered new ways of being.

Yet, what we lack in life can propel us to seek, find and share what we discover. This is exactly what I intend to do here with you by sharing 3 simple and fun ways for you to create clarity and calm within yourself for the holiday season. So go get your chalk pastels (if you have them, if not, crayons or children's paints will do) and tuck into a quiet corner and try these 3 colorful exercises of clarity and calm for you!

Exercise 1 – Color Yourself into a Calm Imaginal Massage Sitting at a desk or table in a quiet room spread your pastels, crayons or paints out around a piece of paper. With your eyes closed inhale for 4 seconds, hold, then exhale for 6 seconds. Take note of all the areas of tension in your body, don't judge, see them as helpful data. Imagine all the tension gathering and forming a ball in your centre with each inhalation, on the exhalation, envision this ball rolling down your arm and into your drawing hand. Using the color that feels ‘just right’ to express this tension flow it onto the paper. Let your hand do what it wants to – rub, blend, tap -- as you imagine each movement massaging the inner tension points right out of you. Breathe deeply into the tension areas and feel them soften and release with the movements of your colors. If you want a new color or feel you need to add another paper to ‘hold’ all the released tension do so. Continue until you feel you have completely shifted your tension out. Fold, tear or throw the paper away and feel your inner massage continue working through you as you continue to breathe deeply while you move through your moments. Exercise 2 – Ground Your Overwhelm Down into Strong Layers of Support With one hand holding a color and with the other hand on your paper close your eyes and take stock of the level of overwhelm you are feeling on a scale of 1 to 10 -- 1 being 'hardly any' and 10 being 'maximum overwhelm...about to lose it!'. Don't judge, just use this information as data. Take a moment to peel off the paper wrapping around your pastels or crayons so that you can use their sides to color for this exercise. As you inhale, imagine all the things that have you in this state of overwhelm getting pulled into the crayon in your hand. As you exhale, feel and watch the overwhelm flow out of your energy field and onto the paper as you draw a line -- using the side of your pastel -- from one side across to the other horizontally. To support clearing this energy out you can let out a clearing sound of "ahhhhhh" or audibly blow breathe out. Pick up a new color and repeat steps 2-4 drawing horizontal lines stacked one onto of the other until you fill the paper to the top inhaling and exhaling the overwhelm out completely. Turn your paper over and write out this affirmation: "I am calm and held by strong layers of support in my life". Now list all your forms of support below this affirmation. Perhaps you feel supported by a person, a Higher Power, aspects of nature, or various practices and healthy habits you cultivated in your life. List them all and feel them grounding you and providing a strong foundation for you now. Revisit that scale from 1-10 and notice if your level of overwhelm has shifted for you. Repeat as often as needed. Exercise 3 – Create Exercise 1 & 2 Energetically

This exercise is inviting you to repeat the exercises you learned above without paper or crayons, rather, with your most powerful art material, your imagination. This way, when you're right in the midst of a family filled, highly charged overwhelming situation you can access Exercise 2 using your breath and imagined crayons moving across the paper while you're sitting at the dinner table without anyone noticing but you. Mind you, your calm energy will be felt by everyone in the room, a gift for the holidays that everyone can enjoy!

Or perhaps you're at work and there's a whole list of things to get to before you have to race off to fulfill another list of family and holiday tasks to attend to. Why not create a calm imaginal massage as in Exercise1energetically on your car ride home? Feeling your tension, see in your minds eye the color that expresses it and flow it out on your imagined paper as you navigate your way through the streets. You will arrive in a wonderful state and find that your tasks are not nearly so hard to do from this calm and clear way of being.

Let this holiday season be a wonder-filled opportunity for you to see how you can leverage anything that feels heavy as the ultimate art material for your life. If you need more support, know that you can,, contact me for a free 15 minute consultation to see which healing modality is the best for your unique challenge to transform right now so that you can truly create

a holiday season of calm and joy!

Get Ready to Exercise in a Whole New Way!

Recently I shared a couple creative mental health exercises for the highly helpful and informative online magazine ,,The Daily Meditation. One of the best mental health exercises you can do at home is to use the creative mind.

You can read the whole article ,,here and I highly suggest you do take a few moments for this  because there are 14 fabulous exercises you can do at home during this stressful time when many of us are staying in with our families and are wanting to discover upshifting tools for our Whole Health.

How this article came about is while It’s a given that physical exercise is excellent for our mental health, there are many other processes that we can all do. What matters most is to try various ones and do what resonates with you. In other words, if it’s not fun, then don’t bother because we came here for the joy of living and when we are in higher states like joy and bliss then we are healthy!

See most people are operating greatly from their Thinking Mind (centred in the head) with a focus on problem solving/seeking. This mind can become very busy (think monkey mind) with all the problems and lose connection with the other highly important mind we all share, the Feeling Mind (centred in the heart).

The new science coming from HeartMath.org reveals that the heart’s magnetic field is 100 times stronger than the brain. That is a lot of power to access. Creating art naturally shifts the focus from the head to heart and into flow state, much like in meditation. The art serves as a container in a way for the stress allowing for a person’s heart rate to slow down as their mind state deepens to lower their stress levels.

Below are two effective art exercises to try. All that is required is some paper, crayons and your imagination with the emphasis on the process, not the product.

Exercise 1 – Stress Ball Shift Sitting at a desk or table in a quiet room spread your crayons out around a piece of paper. With your eyes closed 4 seconds inhalation, hold, and 6 seconds exhalation. Imagine all the stressful thoughts in your head forming a ball. See it roll down your arm and into your drawing hand. Pick up a crayon that feels ‘just right’ to express this stress ball and flow it from your crayon onto the paper. Let your hand do what it wants to – spiraling, zig-zagging, or scribbling. If you want a new color or feel you need another paper to ‘hold’ everything do so. Continue until you feel you have completely shifted your stress out. Fold, tear or throw the paper away and feel your stress completely shift. Exercise 2 – Map Your Breath With one hand holding a color and with the other hand on your paper close your eyes. As you inhale, draw a line from the top of your paper downward. As you exhale, shift the same line upward to ‘map’ your breath. Repeat 5 times then open your eyes. Take note if your breath (and the lines on your ‘map’) seems short and shallow or long and deep. Turn your paper over with the intention to lengthen the lines on your ‘map’ while deepening your inhalation and exhalation. Repeat 10 times then open your eyes and notice how you feel now after deepening your breath. If you so desire, continue for as long as you like.

So my dear, are you ready for your Creative Work-Out? Feel in and notice which of these exercises interests you more then give it a go and share with me how you felt before, during and afterwards. I would love to know!

Trust yourself to know exactly how to keep in great mental shape for your joy to shine through you no matter what is happening around you! Remember, you are the Master Creator of your life! Enjoy what you create!

What is Your Miracle Moment?

Yesterday I was asked to make a short video for the group art exhibition I’m part of in support of Breast Cancer Awareness week.

As I spoke spontaneously into the camera from my heart, I heard myself encouraging everyone, myself included, to honor the trapped heavy emotion of sadness that we carry, often unawares, within our chest. To feel the sadness that

and flow it out to make space for new emotions that want to come through.

This is how powerfully creative we are, that we can choose to feel all of our feelings and heavy emotions, let them flow through us to make space for the lighter ones to enter in.

As I spoke I thought of a close friend who has had breast cancer and has had her life changed because of it on many levels and ways.

That was yesterday.

Then today came and when I looked at Instagram I saw a social media post by this dear friend, Natalia, who is known on Instagram as Mrs. Posetivity.

When I first met Natalia I had no idea about Mrs. Posetivity and no idea about her journey with breast cancer.

I just happened upon a beautiful radiant woman in a restaurant sporting closely shorn blond hair. Not knowing her challenge filled story at the time, I simply asked her “who’s your hairdresser? I’m new to Dubai and would love to know. Your cut and color look fabulous!”

In response, Natalia just smiled big, didn’t mention the C-word, and generously invited me to join her family-filled table for a bite. From there we began a beautiful friendship which went straight to the heart.

A friendship where we both could share everything with each other, especially the struggle filled stuff, because we could feel in each other a shared awareness that the Divine is revealing Great Wisdom for us to find buried in all the painful and tearfilled stuff of Life. Though our life stories differ, we both have learned from the most painful parts that our obstacles and challenges are actually portals for our expansion.

So when I saw Natalia’s post today on Instagram, I had to smile at what her words conveyed about Breast Cancer Awareness week. She shares:

Breast Cancer Awareness

Can we just Start embracing Cancer

Can we just Start attending to it?

START Understanding Cancer

START accepting...Cancer

Can we just START defining Cancer as a

Curse that we turn into a blessing

Our Pain that we turn into an inspirational suffering

The Obstacle that deviates us on our life journey

Our Punishment that we turn as our reward for finding the truth within yourself

Do you have the strength to START?

And that is the question for us all! “Do you have the strength to start?”.

It takes great strength to start a whole new direction where the most pain-filled and debilitating experiences and situations become a pivot point for alchemizing our pain into our SuperPowers. For most of us we end up spiraling down into sadness, depression and helplessness. I did that for a few decades until I woke up, like Natalia, to a whole other way of being.

What Natalia is speaking to is what moves me to share the simple and potent tools to access all the Creative Intelligence that I teach without stopping, because you, dear one, have everything you need for a strong start inside of you.

Whether your life journey sets you on a path of Breast Cancer or a journey of an unforeseen break-up and divorce or a fire that devastates your region and takes your home or a slow silent depression that seems to creep up, in and through you out of nowhere....these are all pain points just waiting for you to welcome the mysterious hidden gifts they hold for you to transform.

As my journey with depression transformed me I grew to rename that my “miracle moment”. I speak to such “miracle moments” in my upcoming book Life In Full Colors:

While none of us share the same miracle moment, we do share the same heart at

the center of them. Big, little, dark, light—all moments are one and the same.

We need to own such moments. Sit with the fear. Be with the struggle.

Welcome the pain and uncover what is tucked beneath it.

Trust the process. Expect a miracle. Find the gift.

Remember, you are the master creator of your life and as you move in strength and start choosing to live as that, then all the tools and teachers you need will come to support and guide you.

I wonder, have you made that start in your life with “embracing” and “attending” to your challenges as Natalia says?

If so, let me know what moved you into this new place of power and strength?

If you are not able to move into that place, don’t worry, each moment is a new opportunity and as you hear yourself say “ I haven’t embraced my miracle moment” you can always add the word “yet” to that.

I believe in you, there’s soooo much within you that your eye has yet to see!

Big love,XC

Sometimes I Forget Who I Am

The other evening, after a very beautiful and meaningful day of working towards the pre-launch of my upcoming ,book, I got lost in all the busy-ness and forgot who I Am.

It can happen this way, after waking up to my Inner Universal Self and going on my personal Hero’s Journey almost 10 years ago now, that my focus can get pulled toooo far outwardly so that I temporarily believe that I have lost connection to my Authentic Self.

When this happens, my highly sensitive little self can get really frazzled and overtaken by a wave of insecurity. And, in a sense, it’s logical to feel afraid and insecure when I leave the most powerful Centre Within for a belief that “It’s all up to me to handle this little life I’m living here”.

So, the other evening, after looking at all the stuff I still need to do rather than all the amazing stuff that Life is Doing Through my Body/Mind/Spirit, deep fears of “I’m not enough” washed over me.

So what to do when those crushing waves come through? Because, let’s face it! They DO! Especially when we step into something completely new like...let’s see...writing a book and launching it into the world! I mean, I’m used to sharing artwork and workshops but a book is a whole other way of sharing for me!

So, putting all my focus on what I don’t know/have done/understand yet I felt I lost my connection to my Centered Self within.

Truth is, that connection IS.

Always.ALL ways.

It was, is and always will be.

Whatever way you call or name it - Allah, Great Spirit, Source, God, Life, Universe, Intelligence - there is no moving or losing of the all pervasive pulsing force that is living us from the inside out.

I KNOW and LIVE as this precious Life Force and often refer to it as the Creative Intelligence flowing through all of life. Guiding and showing us better ways to be, if we just ASK!

So, I did! Just before popping onto a Zoom call with my publishing team I put it out to this loving Intelligence and, as I learned in A Course in Miracles, owned my fear and simply said out loud,

“I need a miracle now!”

“I’m off center and gettin’ pretty hard on myself, show me the way back to the Truth of Who I Am please”

Next thing I knew I was sitting down for my Zoom call when my husband, out of the blue, showed up with 2 dozen roses telling me he is so proud of me and loves who I am. Then, right as the call started, I shared honestly with my team how I was feeling my insecurities getting the best of me.

The support and encouragement that I received from the women on my team was deeply felt within me. It brought me back to the Divine Inner Connection that is Who I Am. This is who You Are. Who We Are together.

As we come to know and BE the truth of Who We Are for each other, we end up reflecting and supporting one another to continue in our True Identity, our Highest Self, for the betterment of ALL. This is the most beautiful gift we can give and be for our Self and everyone in our human family.

Feeling this, I wrote my publishing team to thank them so they would know how much they lifted me. I encourage you to do this too when beautiful answers to your cries for help show up for you. Angels disguised as your partners on your team in life!

Most of all, tend to that scared little one inside that can lose her way suddenly. I spent time with that little Corry, took time to hold and hear her and to find out what she needed to feel safe in such new terrain. Turns out she simply needed more time to sit in the quiet and rest and be.

If you sense you share that need right now and want to quiet in and tend to a scared part of you that feels “I’m not enough”, then quiet into that deepest Love-filed Source within you and rest and receive from the truth of Who You Are.

And if you need guidance on how to enter that space within you, I have a free guided meditation at the bottom of my website page ,,here for you to use.

Let me know what sorts of situations in your life take you off center and cause you to forget the Truth of Who You Are! The Master Creator of your beautiful LIFE!

I would be grateful to know. I’m happy to share more processes for us all to keep creating in and flowing our Centered I Am-ness through!

,Big love,,XC
