Making It

“When I sew a dress while wearing a dress I’ve sewn, I’ll know that I’ve made it.” I remember telling myself that – it must be four or five years ago now. Maybe it seems like a silly little thing. But to me, it was the tangible symbol of something a lot more important than any achievement of skill as a seamstress.

I’ve always wanted to “make it” – to reach that definite point in time when you know that you’ve achieved your dreams and found the things your heart has wanted for so long. And...

I am really excited to be sharing in the cover reveal for the sixth and last novel in a clean Christian kingdom adventure series that I have thoroughly enjoyed! It will be released on April 21, 2022!

ABOUT THE BOOK

Her love seems to have passed him by.

Little does he know that true covenant...

Biblical Meditation (Guest Post!)

Today, I’m so excited to have Erika Mathews guest post about Biblical meditation as part of the launch tour for her new release, Memory’s Mind (Truth From Taerna Book Five)! Erika’s books are all filled with deep spiritual truths and challenging applications for today’s church, and Memory’s Mind just might be my favourite. You can purchase Memory’s Mind in ebook and signed paperback, and you should definitely check out Erika’s other books as well! In fact, the whole series is between 50%-75%...

Musings By the Fire

I feel like writing tonight, even though I have no idea what to write about.

It’s cozy by the fire – almost a little too cozy, and yet I’m too sleepy and too warm to do anything about it. The music is playing comfortably in the background and I’m happy. It’s good to be here. It’s good to be now. I think of all the things I’ve read about living in the present moment, experiencing fully and mindfully the reality you have right now. Not wandering forward into the future to worry about what m...

Living in Scribbles

I’ve been planning for a while to write a blog post today looking back over the past year and forward into the next one, because it’s Epiphany. I always write my “Looking Back and Looking Forward” journal entry on Epiphany, partly because I’m weird, and partly because I never have my act together to write in on January 1st, and Epiphany gives me a second chance. And this year I decided than instead of painstakingly writing it out by hand and giving up halfway through, I’d type it out and pos...

Sometimes . . .

Sometimes, life is fun . . .

Like laughing while you watch your friend pour dish soap without spilling . . . and laughing harder when laughing makes her spill it after all!

Or finding a toilet plunger turned inside-out just outside your bedroom door and WONDERING what the kids were doing that it got there . . . Nope. Not asking. Just not.

Or watching the baby examine a “stew” of the five-year-old’s concocting . . . apples and oranges and water . . . I feel sure she’ll make a good co...

Lazy…

I feel lazy tonight…

I want to write about the meaningful advent service that lingers in my mind from last night… the twinkling lights, the dimly lit church, the songs, the Scriptures, the magic of being there and experiencing the beauty and wonder of contemplating the Saviour’s coming and looking forward to the promise of His coming again…

But I’m feeling lazy…

Or perhaps I could write about my first lonely voyage through dark and fog and rain… and the fallen tree I DIDN’T hit, and the...

Anyone feeling in the mood for Christmas?

I don’t know about you, but it’s feeling a lot like Christmas here . . . outside, a few skiffs of snow are lightly dusting the world in white, and it feels like a cold, cozy day – just the time to begin thinking about CHRISTMAS!!

Baby Steps

I’m making progress. Today, I laughed at myself for making a mistake. Actually – it was two mistakes, and the second “disaster” was “caused by the protagonist’s attempts to fix the situation”. If you understood that allusion, then you are probably an author who’s read about the Snowflake Method. In this case, I was the “protagonist”.

You see, I was making a quadruple batch of Veggie Scramble for several days instead of one, and I had my online recipe set to “4 servings” and I merrily got ...

The Soap Jug Under the Sink

Life has been crazy around here—the list of things to do mounting longer than the hours in which to do them, and so some things have just not been getting done. The chaotic whirl has grown faster and faster, and I’ve felt like a tumbleweed, thrown helplessly on the blast, round and round and round, without any choice of direction or independent volition.

And then I got sick. Not the kind of sick where you keep on doing life with a runny nose and a bad attitude, but the kind of sick where ...
