Books have arrived!
How exciting it is to receive a gift in the mail! Even more exciting is when you can see and hold the product of your hard work in your very own hands. Copies of my newly published poetry book, "Love, Marriage, Divorce & Growth: A poem anthology", have arrived and I am looking forward to hosting live readings and giveaways! The journey to this point has been incredible and so worthwhile. If you have something you want to pursue and you're having doubts, remember: "There is no courage without fear!" A quote taken from, (my fascination with the current Disney film), Mulan. In essence, fear is no excuse for not exploring your creativity. If you're a painter, or a writer, or an actor or an athlete...whatever your passion may be, I beseech you to be fearless in your pursuit. With a bit of hardwork and initiative, anything can be achieved!

How to publish your book!
This is the age of self publishing and indie authors!
Any one can do a quick google search on 'self publishing' and be bombarded with options. I recently posted a youtube video sharing my own experience into self publishing and offer some tips and advice I took on my journey. Fear is a natural part of embarking on a new thing but fear can be overcome! If you have a deep interest or passion for writing, and if you want to be able to share your work with others--then watch my youtube video for some tips and approaches you can take. See you there!

New Poem: "Six Months Ago" #Mentalhealthawareness
October is Mental Health Awareness Month in Canada. Discussions around mental health are becoming more and more accepted but those discussions can only happen in spaces of advocacy: where stigmas are broken down and stereotypes around mental health are challenged. As an educator I have these discussions often. I have penned a new poem to bring awareness around mental health. My new poem is titled "Six Months Ago". Enjoy! #wsite-video-container-425266220296645446{ background: url(//www.weebly.com/uploads/b/132461493-10... } #video-iframe-425266220296645446{ background: url(//cdn2.editmysite.com/images/util/video... } #wsite-video-container-425266220296645446, #video-iframe-425266220296645446{ background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position:center; } @media only screen and (-webkit-min-device-pixel-ratio: 2), only screen and ( min-device-pixel-ratio: 2), only screen and ( min-resolution: 192dpi), only screen and ( min-resolution: 2dppx) { #video-iframe-425266220296645446{ background: url(//cdn2.editmysite.com/images/util/video... background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position:center; background-size: 70px 70px; } }

Newly published book!

For myself, the isolation has encouraged a deeper introspection of what I deem important in my own life. It has forced me to take a critical view on what people and things I need in my life and what I can do without. Most importantly, throughout this pandemic I have found love, a renewed commitment to maintaining family communications, forgiveness, and new hopes and dreams I want to explore. Writing this book was definitely part of that process. I hope it inspires others to further explore their creative side and take risks.
What new projects, relationships or commitments have you decided to explore or overcome despite being encumbered by the Covid-19 pandemic?

You can’t use a possibility to justify a certainty.

Stand against your own measure!

I remember reading this statement in a book a long time ago and it has always stuck with me. I think I read it two to three times to let the words absorb and marinate on the meaning...
Oftentimes we tend to compare ourselves with others and as a result of insecurities and fear, we often diminish our own ambitions. The statement, "...to stand as tall as they makes you a man of little stature" nails home what a disservice we do to ourselves when we fail to put forth our best effort and go the distance. In the end, it is our actions which limit our destinies and the outcome of what we believe is possible or not possible in our own lives.

Food for thought

What is the most powerful currency in the world?
Certainly not money or political power or even fame but CHOICE.
People will humiliate you for it, exploit you for it, use you for it, manipulate you for it and try to imprison you for it.
Your success or lack thereof is not a result of your circumstances or the amount of money in your bank account but your success is a direct result of the CHOICES you make in life.
To be or not to be, that is indeed the question…
Even small children, once they discover the power of their own decisions become a threat to some or a commodity to others.
Self, Be wise with your choices.
