Brands Using Fake Facebook Comments

Take a closer look at that product post with all those glowing reviews on Facebook products. Brands are using fake Facebook comments to boost sales, sometimes with fake profiles or by paying people to leave comments.

Even the dead are leaving comments! Just yesterday I read a comment on Silky Peach Cream, posted that day but from a woman who passed away two years ago. It’s an estrogen cream that apparently makes your lady parts feel alive again, because this deceased “customer” was on her second bottle!

How do I know she was deceased? I reverse image searched the profile photo after thinking all the comments looked suspicious, and her obituary popped up.

It was much like the weird book marketing campaign I was sent, which also used a deceased person for a fake Facebook profile. (click the text if you want to read that crazy story)

Fake Facebook Comments and Fake Profiles

Often, you’ll see a Facebook post with a product and tons of glowing reviews. Sometimes they seem a little off. Too perfect, or too many asking all the right questions.

Once you take a closer look, you’ll start to notice many of the profiles don’t quite look real. Or maybe they haven’t been used in years, in the case of a hacked Facebook profile.

Many have either been created by a marketing agency, or the people were paid for their comments. As one person noted on all the Silky Peach Cream reviews:

So don’t be fooled by all those comments and likes. They can easily be bought!

How to Spot Fake Facebook Comments

Facebook comments can be a goldmine of feedback, conversation, and support—but as I’ve pointed out, not all of them are authentic. Here’s how to figure out if all those great comments are legit:

1. Look at the Profile Behind the Comment

Start with the basics: click on the commenter’s profile. Red flags include:

Recently created accounts with little to no content.Suspicious or generic names that don’t match the region or language of the comment thread.Profile pictures that are either stock images or stolen (you can reverse image search to check). Although Google does limit the search availabilities when searching for people, an obituary will show if the person is deceased.Few friends or followers, and minimal interaction on their own timeline.2. Watch for Generic or Irrelevant Replies

Fake comments often lack context. They might say things like:

“Thanks for sharing!” on serious news articles.“Inbox me for details” or “DM for promo” with zero relevance to the post.Emojis or short phrases that don’t connect to the actual content.3. Spot Overuse of Links and Spam Tactics

Be cautious if the comment contains:

External links, especially shortened URLs or links with clickbait phrasing.Repeated comments posted across different pages.Copy-paste text used across multiple user accounts.4. Engagement Metrics Don’t Always Add Up

Look at how others are interacting:

Do the comments have lots of likes but no replies? That’s suspicious.Is the same account commenting on multiple unrelated posts? Could be a bot.5. Perfect Questions

This is a trickier one, because we all have questions. But we don’t all have perfectly formed questions that cover every different aspect of the product. These are often done with the fake profiles or paid for comments.

Use Facebook’s Tools to Report and Block

When you spot something fishy:

Click the three dots next to the comment to report it.Go to the profile and report it if it looks fake.You can also block or restrict the user.If it’s on your page, hide the comment to prevent it from derailing the conversation.

Will Facebook do anything about it? It depends. I reported the deceased woman’s profile several times from the book marketing campaign and it’s still up.

But I’ve had better success at reporting the profiles that do the spam comments on my own posts. I have successfully gotten some of those profiles removed.

Don’t Take Comments at Face Value

Hopefully after reading this, you’ll learn to take a deeper look at those Facebook comments before believing them. It’s getting harder and harder to trust anything posted online.

While both products I was sent to try are from to Dr. G’s award-winning Korean skincare R.E.D. line, the Blemish Clear Soothing Cream and the Blemish Clear Moisture Cream serve slightly different purposes.

The Soothing Cream has a lighter, gel-like texture ideal for oily, acne-prone, or combination skin, focusing on calming inflammation and reducing redness with a 5-Cica complex.

In contrast, the Moisture Cream offers deeper hydration with a richer texture, making it more suitable for dry or dehydrated skin types needing moisture barrier repair alongside redness relief.

Choosing between the two comes down to your skin’s hydration needs and preferred texture. I ended up like the Clear Soothing Cream the best.

RED Blemish Clear Soothing Cream Review and First Impressions

The RED Blemish Clear Soothing Cream is water based and has a thick gel-type consistency. It comes with a little spatula, so you don’t need to stick your fingers in the container and contaminate your cream.

I really liked the way it easily soaked in and didn’t leave me feeling or looking greasy.

My skin is sensitive, and I have Rosacea, so I easily look red. While I didn’t see any immediate results in making my skin less red, I did immediately feel like my skin was hydrated but not heavy.

I used this product for two weeks before leaving my RED Blemish Clear Soothing Cream review, so I could make sure it did not cause any irritation or redness. I am happy to report it consistently kept my skin well moisturized and did not cause me to breakout or look more red.

A Spooky Good Time in Jax Beach with US Ghost Adventures

I love a good ghost tour, so when I found out about the US Ghost Adventures ghost tour in Jacksonville Beach, FL, I was excited to go see what spooky things my own city has to offer. We were treated to a tour that blended beach history with spooky stories of gangsters and movie stars, with a nice walk and bonus ocean breeze.

Let the Tour Begin

Our tour guide Brandon arrived right on time and was quite easy to spot and scored major brownie points by being in full Jack Sparrow pirate regalia.

He gave us a quick rundown of the tour rules and launched into his ghostly tales, for which he also had visual aids in the form of photos and drawings in a very cool looking old-timey journal type book.

We started at the Jacksonville Beach Lifeguard Station, which started as a hotel location. And as with most things in Jacksonville, there was some natural disaster and then a fire and then somebody significant died and they were like, news flash, we need lifeguards.

And then the Jacksonville Beach lifeguard station was established.
