It's been very interesting so far as there are some aspects of her upbringing that overlap my own. I'm also listening to Untamed by Gennon Doyle which I do while I walk on the beach's bike path, and I can absolutely appreciate her experience of coming out and I even envy it, as I wish my father's coming out had been handled as respectfully and with such maturity, though this was not our society 30+ years ago, nor our family way. I've been loving, How to Be an Antiracists by Ibram X. Kendi. It's been very eye-opening and has made me reflect on my own white privilege and racist views. As much as we all don't want to imagine we are racists, there are blind spots for everyone and it's important to assess this while we're in a time where we can't deny anymore that unchecked systemic racism has devastated so many Black people's lives. Once these three books are finished, I'll be going to one of my favorite authors, David Sedaris and I'll be reading his new book, Themes and Variations. (less)

I would look forward to the weekend morning time, while my husband was still asleep and could write in a quiet house. A fellow writer once told me, "Create before you consume," and this is on my wall in my office right next to my computer. It's a reminder that my creativity should come first. So I sit at my desk and open the programs I need to open that are for writing. The past few years it's been Celtx or GoogleDocs because these are where the screenplay I was co-writing were or where my book had editor notes. I get inspired to work on my creative projects by knowing that they're waiting for me. They're like friends who've invited me to brunch. I share my words and I'm my truest self, and I know that my written words are wonderful ways to bring about emotions and to share experiences. (less)

Happy Easter Sunday folks! This is my first blog post and I wanted to take this opportunity to say hello and give you a little background on my book which may help answer some questions you have about some of its characteristics.
