Time Meddlers Books, Ice Tomb and My Dilemma

First of all, yes, Time Meddlers print books are now available. With new illustrations/maps and professional typesetting, along with some essential revising, these books are far superior to the original versions, at least of Book 1 and Book 2. Book 3, Time Meddlers on the Nile, is of course entirely new, and, as you’ll see, I’ve tied up the main thread in the series. But I have introduce...<![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]>

Sinkhole is Out!

Yes, I've released the eBook version of Sinkhole. For a blurb and links to purchase sites, see my website: Sinkhole.

I plan on releasing a print version too, but that might take another month. The Time Meddlers print books are almost complete. More later.

Update on Time Meddlers series and Sinkhole

I've noticed people are looking/asking/wondering about the promised series and Sinkhole. Well, the truth is I’ve hit a few snags in the printing process, along with my team. But I anticipate those will all be worked out soon. I’m hoping that the Time Meddlers series will be released in print format within the next couple of weeks (don’t quote me), and Sinkhole within the next month. Rest assured that the Time Meddlers series will look better than it ever did before ;) In the meanti...

I Dream of Caves

It will probably come as no surprise to you, since I’ve written and will be releasing a novel called Sinkhole, that I love caves. It has long been a dream of mine to visit the massive signature caves in Kentucky appropriately dubbed Mammoth Caves.

This summer my dream came true. We planned a road trip to Kentucky, and as with all road trips there were fantastic, fascinating, freaky and downright dreary situations--well, maybe not dreary, just moderately annoying.

The first leg of our...

Death of a Story

How to Find the Balance Between Modification and Destruction

Have you ever wondered about those stories buried in an author’s filing cabinet? Well, perhaps nowadays they’re buried in a layer of digital dust. They’re labelled and relabelled until they’re finally scrubbed.

I once wrote a middle grade story called Ghost in the Piano. A couple of  my novels had already been published, but I wanted to improve my writing, so I joined a critique group. Now I think critiquing is the best way to im...

Time Meddlers Announcement

Time Meddlers

Deborah Jackson
Dear Time Meddlers fans, I’ve come to a decision. It’s not fair to make you wait two, three years to read the third Time Meddlers book when you’ve been thoroughly engrossed in the adventure. That is the reality of finding a new publisher (minimum).

Time Meddlers Undercover
Deborah JacksonSo . . . I’m going to self-publish all three books for the time being, in both electronic and print format. I’ll do my best to deliver the books to the most accessi...

Comiccon is Trending

You understand that in order to write sci-fi, even “serious” sci-fi, you must first be a Trekkie, and perhaps a Star Wars fan too. No, I've never been to Comiccon before. Comics aren’t my thing, but when Shatner comes to town and you have an opportunity, well...you must...see...The Shatner.

The morning began this way.

My husband and I bounced out of bed. My son dragged his sleep-drugged hormone-infested 15-year-old body from beneath the covers an hour later. My daughter was still comatose. So I...

Michelangelo and the Artist’s Vision

Should we continually adapt, adapt, adapt to suit someone else’s vision?

Michelangelo was an arrogant fellow. He had his own vision for his artwork, and it certainly didn’t coincide with the artists of the day.

Years ago, shortly after I completed my university degree (although it wasn’t in art or art history) I travelled to Europe, student-style, and visited the standard castle-cathedral-museum train of must-see spectacles in the tourist brochure. Of course there’s obvious aesthetic...

The Forgivable Lapse

Are you In It for the Long Haul?

It probably doesn’t surprise you that I enjoy watching sci-fi and paranormal television shows: Fringe, Grimm, Supernatural, The River. I also watch medical shows like House and Grey’s Anatomy, but that’s beside the point—and has to do with my background and expertise rather than my fascination/obsession.

The other day I was watching Supernatural. I know, the stories are often silly, but it’s the silliness, the sentimentality, the downright goofiness that...
