Quote of the Day, Yes, Indeed: Read @Badmachinery’s STEEPLE Webcomic edition.

John Allison, writer of the Steeple webcomic:

It’s my birthday today! I’ll be celebrating, as I always do, by having a glass of water. If you want to give me a present, please tell a friend about Steeple. Tell them it’s a reasonable read at a price that’s right. That ought to do it.

It is, in fact, both of these things. If he did commissions, John Allison would be on my ‘try to buy a book cover from’ list.

The “…*Huh*.” COWBOY BEBOP live action Netflix trailer.

I’ve never watched COWBOY BEBOP. The animated one, that is. And now I’m beginning to wonder if that was a mistake on my part.

10/19/21 Snippet, TINSEL RAIN.

Another 500 words today. Still not optimal, but it’s functional.

Patreon!

I thought about bringing Graciella along to the Castle… for about ten seconds. You don’t take anything, or anyone, to a Dominion ambassador meet-and-seethe that you don’t have to. Besides, they’d check her age at the door. Sixteen’s on the young side for that sort of establishment.

There was no King’s Ride this time; I had to call a cab that morning. And I did have to. Louie had done wonders with the suit, and for once I wanted to keep it that way until I had to, I dunno, dive off the Castle walls or something. Or fight in a burning building. Or throw an ax at a demon, or… things happen to me a lot, you know?

The crowd was already pretty big when I descended from the cab and got the literal brush-off from a whisk-wielding courtier. We lucky guests were all fashionably early, or at least that was the excuse we were all using. More than one Dominion ambassador has started off their time in Cin City by throwing fireballs into the city because the audience was too small. That bugs a surprising number of our nobles; personally, I figure it’s because they’ve finally learned where all the booze and showgirls come from. Simple self-interest, right?

Pelgrane’s “Suburban Consumption of the Monstrous’ LARP Kickstarter.

Come, I will conceal nothing from you: I won’t be backing Pelgrane’s ‘Suburban Consumption of the Monstrous’ Kickstarter. It’s a collection of LARP games, and I don’t LARP. I don’t have the time to LARP.

But it’s Pelgrane, so it’s gonna be a good collection. If you do LARP, go ahead and back it. This looks like it’s gonna have tons of seriously messed-up stuff inside it, too. That’s always a draw.

Tweet of the Day, I See No Flaws In This MD Zebra Herd Reinforcement Strategy edition.

(h/T @zamoose) Because that’s what’s gonna happen. They aren’t going to capture the Maryland Zebras. They’re gonna reinforce them.

Officials hope to capture loose zebras with new plan involving even more zebras https://t.co/7IB8rYsIHG

The New TRAGEDY OF MACBETH teaser trailer.

Not gonna lie: I like the aesthetic of ‘slightly feverish horror’. And I’m growing fond of A24 in general. That studio keeps making stuff that catches my eye.

Tweet of the Day, I’ll Believe In This History Of The World Sequel When I See It… edition.

…and not a millisecond earlier.

And I still won’t believe that it’ll be good as History of the World Part I. Which is not me saying “Don’t do this.” I’m just… managing my expectations.

10/18/21 Snippet, TINSEL RAIN.

Got 500 words in! There needs to be more, but what the heck. This is good for a start.

The foot bone’s connected to the ankle bone,

The ankle bone’s connected to the shin bone,

The shin bone’s connected to the knee bone,

Hear the word of the LORD.

It’s a title, not a description. He’s not ‘my’ Man in Tourista, to start with. More like ‘the guy the 300 uses to tell me things.’ Only not just me; I share that honor with everybody from King Ronnie to the Cin City ratcatcher. I dunno who of the two would be more embarrassed to share the honor.

And he wasn’t thrilled that I was around, either. “You lost, gumshoe?”

“Nice to see you too, Mitt.” What? I gotta call him something. “I got questions to ask, that’s all.”

“Sure. Here, have some answers: no, no idea, none of your business, piss off.” Mitt blew some cigar smoke my way. “The way out’s back the way you came.”

“For this you interrupted my boxing match?” I shook my head. “Where’s that famous Tourista hospitality, Mitt?” — But inside, I was a little worried. This was harder-edged than I was used to. Not at the break-your-leg level, but Mitt was on edge. Which meant that so was the 300.

The final(?) GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE trailer.

Less than a month to go! …Or over a year late, depending on how you’re counting the days. I’m just happy to have a chance to see GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE in theaters.
