The November Patreon stuff is up!

I’m mildly cheating, but only mildly. Chapter Four of BANSHEE BEACH had tons of [put something cool in here] notes, which is both necessary and a terrifying thing to do. What if you forget? …I’ve seen those things get as far as an E-ARC. It’s a valid fear.

Anyway:

Patreon!

Behold!

Short Story: Chapter Four of BANSHEE BEACH: It’s Forty Miles to Red Beach. The world of the Fermi Resolution is kind of weird, because it’s post-apocalyptic, not medieval. This book’s gonna get into that a little, methinks.RPG Material: The Cunning Land, Part One: Background. This is gonna be a little more hard-edged than originally conceived. The trick is gonna be not to make it too hard-edged.

The Critical Drinker reviews WICKED.

(Via Instapundit) He… liked it, actually. Which is impressive, because the media blitz for WICKED is giving off heavy It’s Not For You vibes for, I dunno, roughly half the population? But apparently it’s good, if you like musicals and/or the original stage production.

Well, that’s cool. Not everything has to be made for me. …I can pretty much end that statement there, huh? Because, really, it’s true: not everything has to be made for me.

My mini-review of RED ONE.

Short version: …I swear to God, some people just don’t like silly, slightly sloppy fun.

Slightly longer version: the guy whose place I held in the snack line so that he could get his pregnant wife properly situated had seen RED ONE a week earlier, and he told me it was a good bad film. …That’s fair. High Cinema it is not. But it was goofy entertainment and Christmas-y at the same time, albeit with a bunch of cussing and a highly contrived excuse to visit a beach in Aruba. When it comes on, you’ll probably like it.

I personally feel like sometimes movie critics need to grade more on a curve. This is one of those times.

Hrm. Maybe I WILL go see RED ONE.

Those are some good numbers RED ONE’s pulling. Critics hated it + audience loved it = big, sloppy fun, usually. I could do with some big, sloppy fun.

‘Mashed Sweet Potatoes in Orange Cups.’

This was one of the things my wife made for Thanksgiving because I was on bird and mashed potatoes and broccolini duty. Come, I will conceal nothing: I had signed off on trying it politely as part of my husbandly duties right up to the first bite. I ate the whole thing and was kind of happy that there wasn’t more, because I would have made myself a pig over it.

She fiddled with the recipe, upping the butter, orange, and the syrup, skipping the pecan drizzle, substituting almonds for walnuts because I have an allergy, and adding cinnamon on the sensible theory that everything else in the recipe went well with the spice. All in all, it was delicious. I won’t mind having it again.

PS: I decided not to take pictures of the food. Everything came out great and everybody else is showing off their food today anyway.
