A Time to Take Stock of What We Have

We are in the thick of a global tragedy.

So many people are sick, dealing with loss of lives and loved ones, loss of businesses and our livelihoods.

So, how do we raise our heads up out of the despair we are feeling and start seeing the positive in our current situation?

When I look at how humanity has responded to our crisis, I see a refocus on family and community, and a renewed sense of a shared connection between all of us. We have been given a break, a time-out the constant chatter of needing to be busy and keeping packed schedules.

Our minds have an opportunity to be quiet. We can be present and listen to our own needs and listen and hear each other instead of being focused on social media and our next event.

We also have been given a rare gift to evaluate our lives and take stock of what we have in front of us, our priorities, our values and what really is important in our lives.

In a sense, we have given a blank slate to start over, if we so choose.

We have an opportunity to look deep within ourselves even if it feels uncomfortable to work on work on ourselves. With the time we are given right now, you have the choice to start making new decisions, start new healthy habits, create new goals and let go of what has been holding you back.

You have been given a gift to start being the YOU that you have been missing out on.

What will you do with your time?

What new opportunities have you discovered?

What new choices will you make?

Dealing with stress and fear with a chronic disease

You may be feeling a lot of overwhelming fear and anxiety about your health, your loved ones health and your finances right now as our world is experiencing a major crisis locally and globally. You are not alone!

However, if you are living with a long-term condition this can make you particularly vulnerable and make your everyday health concerns and limitations a little more challenging. You may need to cope with pain or discomfort from your symptoms a little differently right now, take steps to manage your condition and practice self-care, adjust to new limitations that your condition puts on your life, manage increased financial pressures and cope with feelings of frustration, confusion, or isolation.

Here are some strategies to help you cope and regain control of your life and situation:

• Observe your own body too. Pay close attention to what seems to ease your symptoms or make them worse. Use a notebook or calendar to record trends and other insights that might help you manage your symptoms.

• Become a Self-Manager
Serving as the day-to-day manager of your own health may help you gain a sense of control and improve your quality of life. Try to keep a consistent schedule as well so you feel like you have more control of your day. Continue to follow your recommended treatment plan to keep your symptoms and stress in check.
It may help to set up a reminder system in your calendar, daily planner, or smartphone.

Manage Emotions
The all-encompassing nature of chronic illness, and the ways it disrupts your life and plans, can elicit a wide range of emotions. These responses may include:
• stress
• grief
• rage
• fear
• depression
• anxiety

Experiment with different ways of managing stress and painful emotions. When you find a technique that works, incorporate it into your daily or weekly routine.

Some ideas include:
• exercising
• stretching
• listening to music
• deep breathing
• meditation
• writing in a journal
• cooking
• reading
• spending quality time with family, your partner, your pets
• take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories, including social media. Hearing about the pandemic repeatedly can be upsetting.
• take care of your body. Take deep breaths, stretch, or meditate. Try to eat healthy, well-balanced meals, exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep, and avoid alcohol and drugs.
• Make time to unwind. Try to do some other activities you enjoy.
• Laugh
• Watch something funny
• Eat as best as you can. Eating living foods like veggies and fruits and organic foods will help increase your vibration. Eliminate inflammatory foods like sugar, dairy, gluten and corn. Increase your Vitamin D, C and zinc. Stay hydrated too!
• Get lots of sleep and rest right now. This is your body’s time to heal and restore its energy.
• Have a dance party
• Connect with others. Talk with people you trust about your concerns and how you are feeling. Connect on video using zoom or FB or skype.
• Spend time outside in nature if you can and soak up some sun.
• Expand your mind: catch up on some reading, learn something new and explore a new hobby

Healing Prayer for our Us and our World

chakra infusion with out name.jpg

World Healing prayer

We have a lot to process right now in our world and in our own lives right now.

Our life is filled with uncertainty as we experience rapid global, local and personal changes.

Change and uncertainty can be very scary and cause us to have increased fear and anxiety which lowers our immune system. It is important more than ever to try to keep your whole-self healthy in body, mind and spirit as best as we can under the circumstances.

If you can, try to find the blessings in each day. Maybe it is being able to work from home, be with your family and pets, tackle a project you haven’t been able to start or finish, read a book, spend time alone healing in nature, meditating, creating healthy meals and exercising. When we shift our thoughts to the positive, it helps us have a little more control over the situation and handle things better.

Dear God (replace with the name you use),

Thank you for the national leaders of our country and other countries working together to protect us. Please lead them as they determine how best to govern in a time of great uncertainty. Let this be a time of unity for not only our country but for our world.

Please help all the men and women specializing in the science field and infectious disease to guide their minds and their hearts as they search for ways to circumvent the further spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Please help them to find options to curb panic and help protect the financial, emotional and spiritual well-being of the public. Be with their families in their absence from home.

Please be with all the emergency responders and healthcare providers who are exposing their own health to save others. Protect them from exposure, both physical and emotional. Guide their hands and give them wisdom. Protect their families as they spend extended time away from home.

Please help everyone who is feeling fear, anxiety and isolation we face as our situation continues to change for not only our families, but for all institutions, big and small that are being shut down in an effort to protect us from this worldwide disease.

Please give us the strength, patience and confidence to wake up every day to focus on the good in our lives. Help us to celebrate humanity for rising and showing their light by helping others in our great time in need, even from a distance. Help us to continue to pray and send love and healing for our friends, neighbors, co-workers—and even our enemies. Show us and remind us how to be our best and be stronger, kinder and more loving then we knew we could be.

Please help all the parents and children to have patience with each other while they adjust to home schooling. Help the parents and care givers with confidence and the tools to teach their children the best they can and not be overwhelmed.  Help the children to communicate with their parents what their needs are at this time as their social world and connections have drastically changed. Help them with their grief with canceled events that they had planned on going to and no longer can. Please help families to reach out to others for support, resources and guidance when they need help.

Please help protect our children who may not have the best and healthiest home environment now that they must stay home. Surround each home with your light and love and let it find its way in everyone’s hearts and souls.

God, please bring peace, healing and love to those who are quarantined and waiting for word if they are infected. For those who are infected, bring healing to every cell of their body, keep the symptoms to a minimum and bring comfort during their suffering. For those who have lost loved ones to the virus, please ease their grief through your enduring love. Surround them with your love and light and the support of others. Guide them to resources to help them through the loss. Hold their hearts in your hand.

Please continue to protect all of us in the world and help us to do our best during this time of change and surround us in you love and light always.

Amen.

I hope this prayer brings you some peace and comfort.

Keep doing the best you can. You are not alone; the whole world is going through this together. Reach out to others if you need it. I am here for you too.
