Maggie on the Move
In my last post, I mentioned that my husband and I had sold our house along with most of our stuff, bought an RV, and hit the road. The whole plan was one of those wake-up-in-the-middle-of-the-night-with-a-crazy-idea moments, but we looked at each other and asked, “Why not?”
I find when I have those out of the box thoughts and I begin exploring them, things either fall into place right away or I’m hit with stumbling blocks that make me reassess. Well, we had an offer on our house within minutes....

New Year, New Intentions
Dear Maggie,
Do you have any personal, fitness, or professional New Year’s resolutions?
Sincerely,
Gym Rat in Jersey
Dear Gym Rat,
Generally speaking, I like to create big picture intentions for the New Year rather than very specific goals. This year is different however as we’ve just made some major changes to our life. First off, as you may already know, we sold our home and moved full-time into an RV. Since we don’t know where we want to settle next, and with kids scattered all over the west coa...

The Emotional Scenes Get Me Every Time!
Dear Maggie,
Do you have a favorite scene in each of your books?
Sincerely,
Wondering in Waterbury
Dear Wondering,
My favorite scenes in the books I’m reading or the books I’m writing tend to be ones with really intense, emotion-filled moments. As a writer, my process when drafting a new novel is to loosely outline the plot, figure out where I’m heading, flesh out the major characters, and anchor the story with a few major, pivotal scenes. It’s those pivotal scenes that are my favorite to write, and ...

A Great Big Thank You!
Dear Maggie,
Do you have any book events coming up?
Sincerely,
Book Lover in Bangor
Dear Book Lover,
As a matter of fact, I do! It’s time for the 10th Annual RI Author Expo, a festive event featuring over 100 local authors. Join me at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick, RI on Saturday, December 3, 2022 from 10 am - 5pm. The day will be jam packed with panels, programs, raffles, and even Santa. I’ll be signing all books from the TSI and HORIZON series, so please come say hello.
I’ll also be moderating a pane...

Minding My Mental Health
Dear Maggie,
Do you struggle with the winter blues? If yes, how do you manage to get anything accomplished?
Sincerely,
Sad in Sacramento
Dear Sad,
Yes, I totally struggle with the winter blues, or if you want to get clinical, seasonal affective disorder. Here in the northeastern United States, the sun sets just after 4pm. The days are short, the sky is dark, and it’s cold. Winter is definitely coming, and I’ll be honest, it’s my least favorite season. I work from home, often spending hours alone. Dur...

Happy Halloween!
October is a month with five Mondays, so that means this post will appear on tabithalordauthor.com and msmaggieclare.com. It also happens to be Halloween, and I’ll be spending the evening alone. Ray is out of town for work, and the kids now all live on the opposite side of the country. But, instead of throwing myself a pity party, I’m going to dress my tiny dog in a cute costume and give out candy to the neighborhood younglings. Then, I’m going to pour a glass of wine and binge watch something o...

Vulnerability and Courage: Two Sides of the Same Coin
Dear Maggie,
Do you ever worry or get nervous when other people read your work?
Sincerely,
Nervous in Newport
Dear Nervous,
When I first started writing, and had to let other people read my stories, I was definitely nervous. What if I really had no talent at all? Was I kidding myself? Did I have the resilience and mental fortitude to manage the criticism and constant rejection that came along with the writer’s life?
Nine years later and I’ve just released the fourth book in the TSI romantic suspense ...

Have You Heard of Kindle Vella?
Dear Maggie,
Have you heard of the new Kindle Vella platform. If yes, are you going to upload any stories there?
Sincerely,
Waiting in Wabash
Dear Waiting,
I’m so glad you asked! I currently have a live story on the Kindle Vella platform. For those of you who haven’t heard of Vella yet, it’s Amazon’s newest writing and reading platform. Here’s how it works…
Writers create an account and upload ‘episodes’ of their story. Readers can access the first few episodes of that story for free, and then they ca...

The End
Dear Maggie,
Do all your books have a happily-ever-after ending for the main characters?
Sincerely,
Sappy in Sarasota
Dear Sappy,
One of the rules of romance writing is the happily-ever-after ending. Readers are willing to go along for the ride, suffer misunderstandings, endure loss, hurt, and drama as long as they know the happy ending they crave will be the pay-off. It a quality I really love about the romance genre.
As a writer of romantic suspense, I tend to put my characters through the ringer ...

Eeny Meeny Miny Moe…
Dear Maggie,
Of all the leading men in your TSI series so far, do you have a favorite?
Curious in Columbus
Dear Curious,
What a difficult question! I truly love all my leading men, even though they’re very different from one another. Teagan Tate, who we first meet in Sing for Me and who stars in Moving Target, is a flirty, outrageously funny, uber-talented musician. He’s also intuitive, generous and a steadfast friend. His Aussie accent really makes him over-the-top sexy.
Cam Taylor, star of Lost an...
