A Sneak Peak Into A Bard’s Mind

A SNEAK PEEK INTO A BARD’S MIND

With headlamps strapped to our heads

we lean painstakingly toward a cacophony,
as to decipher what voice is muse,
what demon to reuse,
but a stampede of voices fall, one against the other,
until we are lost connecting the dots
for the labyrinths that we create
in brief moments of terrific...

what sin is it? (for the international day of the girl child)

what sin is it? (for the international day of the girl child)

to star on her hero stages
other than scar her beautiful

what sin is it?

to wish our girls
what we wish our boys

what sin is it?

to sing same solemn songs to her,
that we whisper to our boys

what sin is it?

to pray the sun into her moon
and match her pink with our blue

what sin is it?

to remind our boys
she’s human first, before a girl

what sin is it?

to enhance her voice
and not shadow her existence

A Random Thought On Commitment

Most things in life, I believe, need more preparedness than desire. You may desire something, but you may not be prepared for it. Do you have any idea? “Things demand responsibility,” my grandpa used to say, “therefore when you aren’t ready for them, desire fades and duty becomes a weight.” The more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

Simply said, I would characterise this preparedness as the sense you experience when you are willing to commit. I know it seems like I’ve said it a coupl...

Life In The Crucible

‘Life In The Crucible’ will remind you of the chaotic prancing of a depressed mind posed by the dissenting voices of never-resting demons.

Jaachị Anyatọnwụ

Depression manifests itself in far more severe ways in some individuals than in others. It is quite impossible to comprehend what depression is like without ever experiencing it.

Dep...

8 Tips for Writing Better Poetry

8 Tips for Writing Better Poetry

When we first start writing poetry, our work is amateurish and awkward. We might write poems that are cute or silly, poems that don’t make much sense, or poems that are murky, excessive, or verbose. Here are 8 tips for writing better poetry. Thes...

The Truth About Book Editing

Why not just have your spouse, closest friend, or a roommate with an English degree proofread your book? After all, they can write, understand grammar, and have read a lot of books. Isn’t it enough to qualify them?

Do you believe that everyone can write books? Without a high degree of expertise, ability, as well as some good old experimentation, probably not.

The same may be said about editors. Book editing is a specialized skill. The greatest editors not only ensure that your manuscript i...

hope’s dead and so am i

hope’s dead and so am i

last night

i fashioned a gun

from the leftover debris of

disappointments, fails, hurts

fully loaded

i aimed at the heart of hope

i fired seven shots

hope fell

her last words were

“it gets better”

then i shot myself

it gets better

in the afterlife

yeah?
