Author Visits, Presentations and Workshops - Inspiration, Imagination and Invention

Unlike those writing for an adult audience, children's authors have far more opportunities to secure speaking engagements. Many teachers and librarians at elementary, junior high and, depending on the age range of your books, senior high schools, like to host artists every school year. They know that an author visit can be inspirational, boosting student creativity and encouraging them in their own writing. And from your own point of view, meeting your readers can be one of the most...

[image error] An Interview with Nicholas Burman of NBurman Design - Part One

Tell us a little about yourself

The most obvious thing to start with is the fact that I was born and raised in Suffolk, England. I've lived in Calgary for 20 years. I play four musical instruments, am married with four kids, don't really like piña colladas and avoid getting caught in the rain. I think that's all the non-designy stuff.

How long have you been involved in graphic design?

Technically, about eight years...

Eric Orchard to create cover for Flashback

[image error] Award winning illustrator Eric Orchard will be creating the cover for Flashback, my YA novel set for release in early 2011. Five Rivers Publishing had this to say:

Introducing Nicholas Burman of NBurman Design

It goes on in the great big vastness of the internet, there is one thing that has the most attraction for writers: words!

Despite the fact that you can watch television, find pictures of almost anything, listen to music and communicate with people around the world online, the web is really built on words. Search engines depend on words to get you the results you are looking for. Social networking also depends on words, particularly Twitter. And a...
