Emmanuel: God Within—Within God

Now we celebrate the coming of Emmanuel, not just God with us, but God within us. See what I mean in this week’s edition of “Beyond Ironic”.

At this time of the year, we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the coming of the Christ into the world. It has been explained in many ways, perceived in many ways. Perhaps we can perceive it this way.

Jesus has many names and titles. At Christmas, we remember the name Emmanuel, which means, “God is with us”. But He is not simply a companion who walks alongside us. God is within us, and we are within God. God is as close as our breathing. It is God who breathes life into us. And there is nowhere we can go where God is not. It is, “in God that we live and move and have our being,” (Acts 17:28).

We can also recall the words of Jesus, “The Father and I are One,” (Jn 10:30) and “What I have done, you will do also,” (Jn 14:12). Even though some Christians may be scandalized by the idea, we can perceive our relationship with God this way: There is only One Son of God, and we are It.

Let me back up for a minute. I often say the Bible is like an onion. An onion has many layers, each one having slight differences in thickness, texture, moisture, etc. Everyone has experienced separating the layers of an onion and noting these amazing differences. The outer, dryer layers are somewhat distasteful to eat, and we usually throw them away. Each layer is unique. One might ask, “Which layer is the real onion?” Of course, every layer is the real onion, even though each is different. The real onion is all the layers.

So it is with the Bible. You have, no doubt, encountered various interpretations of many passages and events from the Bible. Was the Exodus an historical event or a spiritual experience? Was Jesus’ exhortation to Nicodemus that he must be “born again” a metaphor or a literal instruction? And a thousand other examples. The answer is, yes to all. Every interpretation is correct (within reason). There are not correct and incorrect understandings or perceptions. They are all levels of understanding, or levels of perception. One of the great joys of reading the Bible and hearing new preachers is the new shades of meaning and depths of understanding that each evokes. With that perspective, let us unveil another “onion layer” to Emmanuel.

Each human (and every thing in creation) is a physical expression of God—God expressing Himself in materiality—even in people and things that do not seem to you “godlike”. Think of it this way. Can you express love in a song, in a poem, in a painting, in a gesture, in an action? Yes to all. And love in each form has its own beauty and uniqueness, its own joy of form. Yet all are one in their expression of the One reality that is love, that is, God.

In a similar way, each person is God expressing in materiality, a slightly different, unique, and seemingly separate individuation of the Oneness—the One Reality that is, “I Am that I Am.”

The message of the Christ is that We Are the Christ. The Son of God is One and We are It. As the great physicist, Erwin Schrödinger, observed, "The total number of minds in the universe is one."

As we celebrate the coming of the Emmanuel into materiality, may all of us recognize our Oneness as the Son of God, and our Oneness with God. Let your Divine Light shine forth into the world and be the Oneness!

Mask Mandates Are a Dress Rehearsal for Mass Murder

That might sound ridiculous. Let me explain why it’s true in this week’s edition of

If you can get over your immediate revulsion at this idea, and open your mind to perceiving differently, you may see the truth of my title.

It is beyond ironic that something sold to us as a public health measure is actually a cover for mass murder training. There are two parts to this assertion. Both are easy to understand. Let’s take one at a time.

Wearing a face mask has nothing to do with public health. You want evidence? In a recent article, Dr. Paul Alexander1 (who specializes in evidence-based medicine) listed over 400 scientific research papers that show no benefit to any non-medical covid intervention. Nothing helped. Not masks, not hand washing, not social distancing, not lockdowns, not limitations on social gatherings, not shutting down churches, not plexiglass barriers, not one-way aisles in grocery stores—nothing. No effect whatsoever. That’s the incontrovertible evidence.

How many scientific studies do show a benefit to masks or any other non-medical intervention? Zero. Zilch. Nada. This information is well known to the people who control our society and make these rules. They are lying. So what have these non-medical interventions achieved?

We have been harassed for almost two years to, “Just wear the damn mask!” We have been insulted, bullied, and coerced. We have been refused service, refused entry, intimidated, and fired. We see overwhelming fear in the eyes of neighbors who encounter us, unmasked, in the grocery store.

We see people on social media wishing death to the unvaccinated. We see families excluding members who are unvaccinated. Our governments have passed “decrees” that break all our basic laws, overriding centuries of limitations on the tyrannical power of governments, and turning citizen against citizen, neighbor against neighbor, friend against friend. With covid, not only has all human law been set aside, but also common decency. People are now vilified as terrorists and granny-killers for refusing to submit to an experimental genetic therapy that quickly showed itself to be ineffective and incredibly dangerous. People are thrown into jails (renamed for the occasion) without charges, due process of law, or even the existence of legitimate law itself. Concentration camps were built and will soon be filled. Medicine has become a process of ideologically inspired murder and oppression. All this is enthusiastically supported by the “state” media and the majority of citizens. Communist subversion is complete.

These mandates have created enough anger, hatred, fear, and suspicion amongst people that they will willingly murder each other. The world has seen this phenomenon play out many times before—the Jews in Germany, the Tutsis in Rwanda, and the list goes on.

Several years ago, the Canadian philosopher, Stefan Molyneux2, said, “Cancel culture is a dress rehearsal for mass murder.” (You can watch his short explanation here.) The same is even more true of masks and all the other draconian, irrational government decrees. This is a psychological warfare tactic to make people fear and hate each other.

They are training people to accept that certain “unapproved” ideas, facts, and people can be “disappeared” from their jobs, from their families, from social life. If we accept that, then we will accept people being disappeared from the world. The vicious attacks against people on social media and in the workplace are a practice for vicious attacks on them physically. This is a careful incitement to violence; a socio-pathic dress rehearsal for extermination.

If you will shut off all your rational thinking, your moral thinking, your common sense, and wear a mask that has been clearly and scientifically shown to be useless, then you will do any other immoral, irrational, non-sensical action that some authority tells you to do. This is exactly how the Rwanda massacres happened. This is exactly how the Jewish Holocaust happened. It’s déjà vu all over again. We are witnessing genocide in real time.

We need to re-assert our individual sovereignty—the courage to think for yourself, examine the evidence, and do what you know in your heart is right. The mask mandates, and all the other illegal decrees, are lies. There is no truth to any of them. The ultimate purpose of turning truths into the opposites is to turn the enemies of the totalitarian state into objects of hate so their dissent can be suppressed.

As we prepare to celebrate the coming of the Prince of Peace into the world, remember that we are all One. Set aside the artificial divisions that are forced upon us. The message of the Christ is the message of Love. Do not be pulled into the darkness of lies, deceit, division, fear, and hate. Like the advice given to Luke Skywalker, turn away from the dark side. And in the words of Edgar Cayce, turn toward the Light, and the Shadows fall behind.

The Lights Are Going Out—Time to Light Your Candle

Churchill said, “The lights are going out.” It’s happening again. Read what you can do in this week’s edition of

"The stations of uncensored expression are closing down; the lights are going out; but there is still time for those to whom freedom and parliamentary government mean something, to consult together. Let me, then, speak in truth and earnestness while time remains." 1

Today, again, the lights are going out. This time, all over the world. Totalitarianism is victorious everywhere. We are re-living Germany in the 1930s. It’s déjà vu all over again. Just like then, we are subjected to constant propaganda, teaching us to hate our brothers, coercing compliance with a hundred meaningless and constantly changing decrees that distract us with details while the apparatus of totalitarian control is constructed around us. To many, it seems like the end of the world. It is.

It is the end of the world as we knew it. Things will never be the same again. An era is coming to a close. But each one of us has a part to play in creating the new world. This is part of the power we have as co-creators with God. Most people cannot understand this—cannot believe it—because it is such a rare event in human history. This era has been very long. No one knows when it began.

This is an eternal process. The ancients knew it well.

For dawn to come, first there must be night.

Before spring can emerge, there must be winter.

For the phoenix to rise, it must first die.

This is the epochal transformation of the chrysalis. A caterpillar enters the chrysalis, dies, and emerges as a butterfly. But there is great danger. Sometimes the transformation goes wrong. The caterpillar dies. No butterfly emerges. We are at such a juncture in human evolution.

As the Totalitarian darkness closes in around us, we have a choice. We always have a choice. We can follow blindly and succumb to the darkness. We can allow all that is good and beautiful in humanity to die. Or we can live the true humanity we are: spirit, mind, and body. We can find the Light within ourselves, within our spirit, and let it shine.

It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.2 The time has come. You must light your candle.

Let your light of Love shine in the Darkness of our time. And in that light of love, look upon all your brothers and sisters and see only their light, not their darkness. See the Christ that is being reborn in them. That is the essence of forgiveness. For in this War Against Darkness, our strategy is love, our tactic is forgiveness, our weapon is non-violent non-cooperation.

This is a collective dark night of the soul for all humanity. A new humanity must emerge. Draw on all that is best within your own soul. Turn away from all darkness within yourself. You must add your light to the collective consciousness to help overcome this darkness. You are not alone, but we cannot overcome this dark night of the soul without you.

This is part of the reason ancient cultures celebrated the winter solstice. It means, in the midst of death, the rebirth of life in spring is coming. This is also part of the reason the Prince of Peace came at this time, and we celebrate His coming. The Light came into the world. It shone in the Darkness and the Darkness understood it not. At this time, you must let your light shine in the world. Your candle must shine in the darkness and, together, our million candles will dispel the Darkness.

Just as the Prince of Peace brought the message of Love into the world—so must you. St. John told us that God is Love. God is Light. And the Prince of Peace assured us that you are the light of the world. Your mission is to be a portal for the Light of God to shine into the world.

Light your candle. Shine in the Darkness.

Jason Kenny’s PSYOP

Promise something, take it back, and blame the victim—classic psychological warfare. Jason Kenny’s recent psyop is

Whether you’re an abusive husband manipulating your wife, or an abusive parent manipulating your child, or an abusive prison guard manipulating your prisoner, or an abusive politician manipulating the whole population, this is one of the basic tactics of psychological warfare. You promise something, then you go back on your promise, and you blame the victim. It’s all your fault you’re being abused.

It was no surprise yesterday to see Jason Kenny pull this classic psyop tactic on Albertans. On June 16th, Jason Kenney said, "We won't just open for summer. We will open for good."

On September 3, he canceled that promise. We will once again have mask mandates that have been shown to be useless in three dozen scientific studies and the practical experience of the whole world. And whose fault is it? You irresponsible citizens, that’s who. It’s all your fault. Classic psyop.

Jason Kenny says: 70% of Albertans are double vaccinated, the rise in cases is because of the irresponsible people who are not vaccinated, 80% of current covid patients are unvaccinated, and it’s so obviously in your self-interest to get “vaccinated” that the government is going to illegally bribe you with $100 to participate in a medical experiment. It is simply not possible for all of these to be true at the same time.

When you are being lied to and blamed in the same breath, suspect deceit. Kenny’s narrative is simply not possible. As Sherlock Holmes said, “When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.” Let’s look at what is impossible.

1. As I mentioned, the idea that wearing masks will do anything to reduce the spread of a respiratory virus is impossible. It is a lie. That’s what the scientific evidence tells us, and what the world’s recent experience with mask mandates tells us.

2. The covid “vaccines” do not confer immunity to covid-19, nor prevent its transmission. This is what the “vaccine” manufacturers themselves say in their official submissions to the FDA. The is what the world’s best immunologists and virologists tell us. This is what the twenty years of research on mRNA “vaccines” tell us. Therefore, getting “vaxxed” will do nothing to reduce the transmission of covid-19. The 2.9 million Albertans who have taken this experimental treatment cannot possibly be helping to “slow the spread”. And the rest of us in the control group of this experiment are not to blame.

3. If 70% of the population were actually immune, by virtue of being “immunized” then we would have basically achieved herd immunity and it would be extremely difficult for this virus to spread in the population. If the virus is spreading (which I don’t think we know for sure because the PCR “test” is not diagnostic, the vast majority of reported “cases” are not medical cases of anything, hospitals are not overrun, the data is corrupted, etc.), then it must be spreading amongst the “vaccinated” just as much as the “unvaccinated” which, again, shows that the “vaccine” does not do what Kenny is claiming it does.

So, the official “Jason Kenny Story” is impossible.

Though you might think it improbable, what does the evidence suggest? It suggests that everything immunologists have been telling us would happen, is happening.

1. The mRNA “vaccines” (which are not vaccines) cause your body to produce the very spike protein that is the pathogen and the bioweapon. Just as we have seen everywhere in the world, after mass “vaccinations”, “cases” and deaths from covid go up, not down. It’s happening in Alberta too.

2. Our health officials are corrupting the data—this is, they’re lying. I don’t know exactly how they’re doing it in Alberta, but reports from the US claim that hospitals count you as “unvaccinated” until two weeks after your second shot. Anyone who shows up at a hospital for any problem (heart attack, broken bones, etc.) is given a PCR “test”, which can have over 90% false positives. If you test positive, you are called a covid “case” even if you are only treated for your broken bone. If you are in ICU for any reason and have a positive PCR test, you are called a covid case. If you die, for any reason, and have a positive PCR test, you are called a covid death.

3. It’s likely that many people are already suffering from Antibody-Dependent Enhancement.1 After you get the covid shots, you are more vulnerable to coronavirus infection.

4. The spike protein, which you now produce in your own body after you get the covid shot, causes the disease. You are sick because you got the shot.

If Jason Kenny was simply telling the truth and “following the science”, why would he need to use psychological warfare tactics on the population and why would he have to bribe people to get the “shot”? The official narrative is obviously a lie. The government is obviously conducting psychological warfare against us. The spike protein has been previously shown to be a biological weapon. That means our own government is also conducting biological warfare against us. This is beyond ironic. It is evil.

We are at war. Act accordingly.

Trudeau’s Crimes Against Humanity

It’s been a busy week in Canada. And there really is a spiritual message.

Last Friday, August 13, Justin Trudeau issued more dictatorial decrees: mandatory vaccinations for the public service, but also in crown corporations, federally regulated industries, all air/plane/ship travel, etc. This amounts to a de facto vaccine passport. You will not be able to travel by plane/train/ship even within Canada without getting your “clot shot”. Ever. There is no mention of an end date or ever lifting these restrictions on our legal freedoms.

To be clear, this decree is against the law. Everyone knows that.

The Charter of Rights and Freedoms states very clearly in Section 6.6. (1) Every citizen of Canada has the right to enter, remain in and leave Canada.(2) Every citizen of Canada and every person who has the status of a permanent resident of Canada has the right: to move to and take up residence in any province; and to pursue the gaining of a livelihood in any province.

Trudeau’s decree is not an act of parliament—it is simply his own “act”. These covid “vaccines” have not been approved by any medical regulatory authority anywhere. They are experimental products. This is a clear violation of international law (the Nuremberg Code—you cannot force anyone to take part in a medical experiment) and a clear violation of the Canadian constitution. German officers hung for this crime after WWII. This is illegal law created outside of parliament by a dictatorial decree. Do you still think we have democracy? Keep reading. We are nowhere near the end. The tyranny is just getting started.

Also in the last week or so, Trudeau gave the compliant and “captured” media another $60 million (on top of last year’s nearly $1 billion) just to make sure they’re still in his back pocket.

Two days later, on August 15, Trudeau declared a snap election, less than two years after the last federal election—and just barely within the minimum campaign time required by law. Now that we are in an election campaign, it is illegal for anyone to comment publicly on government policy without first registering as a third-party advertiser, or face a $50,000 fine. So, if you haven’t already done this, you are denied a public voice. Maybe I’ll be hauled into court for this blog post.

So, the grand chess master who is playing Justin Trudeau has placed his chess pieces thus. The black King Trudeau is leading in the polls and will likely will a majority government. The king’s royal proclamations have convinced the majority of citizens that the kingdom is being attacked by a mouse—smaller than a mouse, really, a virus. Citizens must remain locked in their homes to stay protected from the mouse as the king rapes and pillages the countryside. As usual, only Quebec and Ontario matter. They hold 199 out of 338 seats in parliament. It doesn’t matter a hoot what happens in the rest of Canada or what the people there think. The mainstream media is bought and paid for so there will be no negative press for the Liberals or their causes. All disagreement with the government is now subject to prosecution, particularly after their new restrictions on social media and private citizens. This means the opposing white queen is dead. The federal conservatives are led by a Liberal lookalike. This means the white king is neutered. Canada’s religious institutions have all lined up behind Liberal propaganda and the control agenda. White bishops have been bought off. The military is disabled with (likely planned) sex scandals disrupting the senior general staff. White knights bogged down in local skirmishes.

The only players standing between King Trudeau and his rapid victory over a disabled enemy is the line of us pawns. Remember, limited as he is, a pawn can take a king.

This federal election is obviously a tactical plan. Trudeau has managed to control the messaging until now, but the elites everywhere are starting to lose control. People are gradually catching on to what’s happening and beginning to resist. So, he called an election now before the manure really hits the fan (likely starting this fall) to get a majority government so he can continue to rule by the dictatorship of the Privy Council for four more years.

As Dr. David Martin made clear in a recent video interview, Justin Trudeau and most of our government leaders are guilty of mass murder, bioweapons treaty violations, conspiracy, and racketeering, for a start. These “non-vaccines” are a medical experiment. It is a violation of the Nuremberg Code to force people to participate in a medical experiment. These criminals must be brought to justice. Despite whatever King Trudeau says during the campaign, what’s the real plan for the coming years? No need to look farther than Europe. They have been a few steps ahead of us throughout this covid fraud. Here’s what’s going on there, succinctly described in a recent article in Zero Hedge.

This is coming to Canada—and the whole world. Time to wake up.

Here in France it has gone to the extreme with the “Health” Pass.

Last week on the 21st ALL restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and any leisure activities like sporting events, theaters, cinemas, museums, were closed to anyone without “the pass” and all staff at these places are mandated to get the jab to keep their job.

It is now a 6 Month prison sentence if you are caught inside any of these places without the pass (the man who slapped the president in the face got only 3 months prison time). Business owners will get a fine of 45,000 euros and 1 year prison sentence if they do not comply with the use of “the pass” and force all their employees to get the jab. (If you know France, you can commit murder and have less of a sentence)

So the result? All the low paid employees quit, they can make more on welfare here (for now). We can still technically “get take out food” but I just tried last night and every restaurant in our town (that is dine in with take out) has closed their doors due to the lack of staff.

As of last week ALL doctors, nurses and health industry workers have been mandated to get the jab or lose their license, practice, job, business etc. (ALL health care here is Govt paid positions and there are no private health care Doctors or Hospitals etc.)

Since the Health care system is state run and funded, it has been run into the ground. All the good doctors left France 5 Years ago, all the hospitals look like they are 3rd world hospitals since there is no money to repair them, half of the equipment doesn’t work and not every hospital is stocked with supplies needed for daily needs (masks, gels, disposable gowns etc).

For 5 years Nurses have been understaffed and doing double the work because the Health care system is nearly bankrupt…. So add to this the mandatory jab.

So the result? Well they took to the streets by the millions and now all the hospitals just lost another 50% of staff capacity.

My doctor just went into early retirement (a.k.a. he quit) and I have yet to find a replacement.

As of Aug 1st ALL large malls, retail stores and grocery store owners and their staff need to be jabbed and the health pass is required to enter for employees and customers. This would be the equivalent to closing ALL Targets, Walmarts, Costcos, Home Depots, and all major grocery stores. (basically any building over 20,000 square meters) to those without “the pass”.

Result.?? Aug 15th Truckers will be going on strike nation wide; Blocking all access roads in and out of Paris.

Yesterday an entire airport in Northern France closed due to the majority of staff quitting.

As of Sept 15th All public areas and access will be off limits.

No farmers markets, no parks, no national parks, lakes, rivers, beaches, recreation areas, campsites etc. and no gathering over 100 people, no churches, no weddings, etc.

As of Oct 1st ALL small vendors such as, delis, pizza trucks, sandwich shops, butchers, bakers, vegetable stands etc.

So as of Oct 1st I will only be able to purchase food by internet and pick up (if allowed).

Food shortages, Truckers strike, hospitals and airports shutting down unemployment going through the roof. It’s going to be a bumpy ride folks.

Is it me or does all this seem a bit extreme for a “pass” that isn’t exactly working?

America, Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand, you’d better wake up.

Like he says, it’s coming here, Canada—social breakdown and economic collapse. This is what’s coming once Trudeau has another four-year mandate of dictatorship by the Privy Council. Four more years of crimes against humanity. Maybe everyone should just boycott the election.

Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, because all the kingdoms down here are going to hell in a handbasket. Render unto God what is God’s and unto Caesar what is Caesar’s. Nobody owns you—not your body, not your mind, not your soul. Make up your own mind and make your own choices. Do not be intimidated by tyrants—not even if they threaten to unleash the lions on you.

I recently watched one of Agatha Christie’s “Miss Marple” murder mysteries. The forlorn police inspector’s oft-repeated phrase was “This doesn’t make sense”. The apparent facts of the case seemed inexplicable. Naturally, it required the insight of dear Miss Marple to sort out who the killer was and make sense out of the seemingly nonsensical evidence.

It reminded me of the world we live in today. Nothing makes sense. We need Miss Marple.

How can there be a worldwide “pandemic” when there are no excess deaths anywhere. All the real evidence points to a nasty flu. We’ve lived through worse flu seasons before and didn’t change anything. How can it be that “we’re all in this together” when American billionaires have added 40% to their aggregate net worth in less than a year while millions of ordinary people have lost their jobs and hundreds of thousands of small businesses have gone bankrupt?

How can there be a “climate emergency” when the climate has not changed noticeably during my lifetime? How can the world be on the brink of burning up when it’s colder now than at most points during human civilization? How can carbon dioxide be a pollutant when all life on this planet depends upon it?

Why is it that the summer of 2020 saw the worst riots in American history—even worse than the 1960s race and war riots—yet our mainstream media always reported them as “mostly peaceful”? Antifa communists took over a section of downtown Seattle and claimed to have seceded from the United States, formed their own government and police force, controlled access into their “country,” defied the city mayor and state governor, and the mainstream media treated it like a student prank? Rioters everywhere were released the same day they were arrested and no charges laid, despite massive property damage and assaults on both citizens and police.

Yet when a million people marched in Washington on January 6, 2020, to protest official corruption and fraud in the recent election, and only a few dozen did anything slightly illegal—which it now appears instigated by the FBI—the mainstream media called this an “insurrection”. People who did nothing more wrong than being in the Capitol building without permission are held in solitary confinement for months (a form of torture), without charges being laid, denied legal representation, their lives and reputations destroyed by official propaganda.

Why is it that the answer to every problem seems to be more power and control for governments? Why is it that the real power doesn’t seem to be in elected governments at all? Why is it that every government in the Western World seems to be taking its marching orders from the World Economic Forum? They put out a propaganda film about “built back better” and “the Great Reset” and immediately every leader in the world is parroting those terms. What the hell is going on?

I’m sure most of you have asked yourself that question during the past year. It’s the title of my upcoming book, What the Hell Is Going On? – the Web of Fraud That Is Enslaving Everyone and How We Can Escape to Freedom. It’s probably clear to you that something is going on. Things are not what they seem—in a very big way. I wish I had Miss Marple’s insight, but I’ve had to research this on my own. It’s such a huge web of fraud that I’ve had to write a whole book just to scratch the surface of it.

Henceforth, my blog posts will be devoted to exploring various aspects of this web of fraud and the spiritual implications for all of us.

It’s clear that many of the people and institutions we have always trusted can no longer be trusted. I suggest the advice that Donovan offered to Indiana Jones in The Last Crusade, “Trust no one.” As I explain in my upcoming book, experts don’t reveal a fraud, evidence does. Trust no one and examine the evidence.

For today’s blog, the bottom line is—you’re on your own. Sort of. God is always with you. Because God is within you. “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?” (1 Cor 3:16). And God has promised to meet you in His temple—within. Turn within, in prayer and meditation, and seek the guidance of God. It is always better than the guidance of men.

Carry Your Own Pack

Even the dog carries her own pack. If you want freedom, you must accept the responsibility to carry your own pack. See what I mean in this week’s edition of

I love hiking. Just last week I was hiking in the Rockies with my youngest son and oldest granddaughter. Cora is 10 years old and it was her first backpacking trip in the mountains. That was a special experience for me—three generations of hikers.

Cora didn’t carry much weight. She just had a little day pack with her spare clothes and a little food. Her father carried most of her gear. That’s a metaphor for life, isn’t it? I explained it to her like this.

“Cora, you are embarking on the second decade of life. Your task in this decade is to learn to carry your own pack. By the time this decade ends, you need to be independent. You need to carry your own weight, your own gear, not have someone else carry it for you. You need to learn to find your own way in the world—to travel your own path, your own spiritual path, career path, personal relationships path, financial path. You need to learn to hike all by yourself if necessary, and even to help other hikers you meet on the trail. You’ll be able to hike any trail you want. But you’ll have to be able to do it on your own, and pick yourself up when you fall down.”

You see, that’s what liberty and independence are all about. Many people misunderstand this. Many people mistake liberty for licentiousness. They confuse independence with a disregard for others. The founding fathers of America understood liberty to be freedom with responsibility. Freedom and responsibility are two sides of the same coin. You cannot have one without having the other. You cannot lose one without losing the other. That’s exactly what’s happened to us in the Western world. In recent decades, we have willingly given up our responsibilities and are now shocked to find we’ve lost our freedoms.

We were happy to have the government pay all our medical bills—to let the government be responsible for our health. We gave away that responsibility. We were happy to have the government pay us welfare and unemployment insurance rather than taking complete responsibility for our own financial welfare. We gave away that responsibility. We were happy to have the government pay us a pension rather than engaging in productive work as long as we can and providing for our own declining years. We gave away that responsibility. In these and a hundred other ways, we gave away our responsibility. We were happy to see responsibly leave, and our freedom slipped out the door in responsibility’s embrace.

So it’s not surprising, then, that we find ourselves living in a functional dictatorship. We still have the form of democracy, but both our nation and our province are functioning as dictatorships.

On the national level, we went two years without a federal budget. During that time government spending increased by over 100%. Our national debt now exceeds a trillion dollars. On a “per household” basis, this is the same as every household having another mortgage as big as the first one. As an economist and I can assure you, it is impossible to pay this money back. It will never be paid back. The first and most important job of parliament is to control government spending. Parliament is completely ineffective, and the country is being run by the privy council. That’s what happens in a dictatorship, not in a democracy.

In Alberta, with recent legislation, the chief medical officer—an appointed position—now has the power to make laws. That’s dictatorship. This spring, the legislature was postponed, and the cabinet given the power to make laws. That’s dictatorship.

Adolf Hitler did exactly the same thing. He created an “emergency” by burning down the German parliament building in 1932 and blaming the communists. He used that as the excuse to arrest all the communists, cancel their newspapers, outlaw their political party, and confiscate their property. Then, because of the “emergency”, he convinced the parliament to pass the “Enabling Act”, which enabled the cabinet to pass laws during the “emergency”. Since Hitler appointed his cabinet (as does Jason Kenny, as does Justin Trudeau) Germany was effectively a dictatorship from that moment. And, of course, the “emergency” never ended. The German parliament continued to meet for years in a theatre, but it was, appropriately, only for entertainment purposes. The same can be said of the Alberta legislature and the Canadian parliament. They are now for entertainment only. No decisions are actually made there. No effective debate happens there. No MPs or MLAs change their mind or vote differently because of what happens there. All Canadian legislatures have become jokes. We live in a functional dictatorship.

In Canada, the fake “emergency” was a virus that never caused a statistically significant increase in deaths anywhere. Yet all our governments have given themselves emergency powers that have destroyed the last semblance of democracy and turned our country into a functional dictatorship. There is no real public debate or discussion about any new law or policy—illegally locking people in their homes, restricting travel, shutting businesses, closing schools, sports teams, musical groups, public meetings, even family dinners! There was no public debate or discussion about any of this. And none of these measures are supported by scientific evidence.

At the same time, censorship runs rampant. The federal government has now given itself the power to censor even private communications on the internet and social media. All the mainstream media companies have become de facto propaganda outlets for the federal government. It’s like Germany in 1932.

Meanwhile our police, the RCMP, have become like Hitler’s brown shirts—they arrest pastors for preaching, ordinary people for going for a walk or playing in a park, even outstanding Canadians like Maxime Bernier for a peaceful protest, but they stand by and do nothing while vandals destroy public property, tearing down statues at the Manitoba Legislature. This isn’t Canada anymore. The Canada I once knew and loved is gone. In its place is a Marxist dictatorship. We have a functional dictatorship, a national media that is a propaganda outlet, a national police force that enforces, not the laws, but the whims of the dictators.

What Can We Do?

We have a municipal election coming up in a few months. We must remove every single incumbent from public office. All of these people are guilty of malfeasance in public office. All of them are complicit in this fraud, in the mass murder, in the destruction of democracy. Find people to run in your community who see the fraud and tyranny in what has happened. Work to elect people who have the courage to stand up to this tyranny. Demand less from governments, not more. We have enslaved ourselves by giving to governments the responsibilities that are rightly ours alone. We must dismantle the apparatus of oppression. Only by reducing the scope and power of governments can we regain our lost freedom. Only by taking back our responsibility can we take back our freedom. In truth, they are one and the same.

Your future is in your hands. Are you ready to carry your own pack? Are you ready to walk your own path, to make your own trail, to not be led by government, or expect the government to pick you up when you fall, to be there with a Band-Aid when you cut yourself? You will encounter problems in your life—of course.

If you want to regain liberty and democracy, you must accept the responsibilities that come with freedom. Liberty is freedom with responsibility. Liberty is first and foremost, an attribute of the soul. Liberty exists within you, or it doesn’t exist at all. I urge you to find it within yourself, think about its implications, and live liberty in all that you do. I urge you to carry your own pack!

The Butterfly Will Emerge

You are that butterfly. But, ironically, the caterpillar within you must die. Read what I mean in this week’s edition of

The world, and all the people in it, are going through an almost unbelievable metamorphosis that seems to be historically unprecedented. We are in the chrysalis, and the butterfly will emerge. But for the beautiful butterfly to emerge and fly in the sky and manifest all the beauty and freedom of a butterfly—the caterpillar must be destroyed. We can look at this whole process as destruction because the caterpillar is truly destroyed. But it is equally true to say that the butterfly is not really destroyed, just transformed. So it is with us.

We are witnessing incredible destruction all around us. It is not just in human deaths. Perhaps surprisingly, that is really a small part of the destruction. We are seeing the destruction of society, of the arts, of sports, of long-held beliefs, of whole professions, of industries, of our social structure, of respect for people and professions, and the list goes on. It is a form of social collapse. I don’t know how drastic it will be, but it is definitely social collapse, also called societal collapse.

Societal collapse is quite common—far more common than you might imagine. It typically marks the end of a civilization and can be caused by massive disease, famine, natural disaster, war, etc. It sometimes happens when a civilization has become so rigid in its thinking, its social structure, or its economic organization, that it cannot adapt to change. All that people thought was eternal, natural, unchangeable, and proper is swept away and destroyed. This is usually, though not always, associated with a huge reduction in population and a reversion to a much lower level of technology. Think of the fall of Rome in the fourth century AD or the late bronze age collapse in the twelfth century BC.

Yet there are other, less dramatic, examples of societal collapse that I think may be more similar to what we are experiencing. It might be more like, for example, the collapse after the great flowering of European medieval civilization in the tenth to twelfth centuries AD. It fell into the disaster of the thirteenth century. The plague swept through Europe repeatedly, killing a third of the people, in some places half. The climate suddenly cooled, leading to crop failures and famine. Amid these disasters, man fought man in the Hundred Years War. In many ways, it was the end of medieval civilization. Writers at the time talked about it as the end of the world.

Yet out of this collapse, the stranglehold that the guilds held on labor was loosened. The economic and political foundation of serfdom was mortally wounded and freedom was able to slowly emerge. Amidst the despair of destitution and the inevitable human search for spiritual meaning, the theological straightjacket of Catholic Scholasticism was cast aside and minds were gradually opened to a more expansive view of spiritual truth.

It took centuries, but gradually the divine right of kings was smashed by the Magna Carta in England and similar events elsewhere in Europe. A reawakening of knowledge and industry came with the Renaissance. The Reformation forced a spiritual pluralism and an acknowledgment of the personal spiritual journey upon a Catholic Church distracted from spiritual pursuit by its centuries of political responsibility. Without the social collapse of the thirteenth century—the destruction of the medieval caterpillar—the butterfly of an enlightened Europe could not have emerged.

We are experiencing a similar collapse today. It is not the “fourth industrial revolution” imagined by those adolescent intellects that understand only power. It is something far greater than that. And those selfish minds that seek to impose a modern “divine right of kings” must be swept away with a new “Magna Carta”. Our new “Magna Carta” must be, not simply a "power of barons" to balance the power of kings, but a new world constitution that prevents the accumulation of power that could enslave others. It must recognize the rights and responsibilities of each person for their own lives.

I hope you are beginning to realize that our oft-lauded government institutions do not help people solve their problems in life. Most often, they do exactly the opposite. We need to learn again that it is not charity to do for a man, what he could and should do for himself. It is enslavement. Throughout the world, we have allowed ourselves to become enslaved by the promise of something for nothing. There is no such reality. You have heard the old Chinese proverb. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. I say, give a man a fish and you make him your slave. Teach him how to fish and you set him free. The time has come for all of us to be free. Whatever you want for your life—do it yourself.

The butterfly must fight its own way out of its chrysalis. If you assist it, it dies. So it is with man—with our present metamorphosis. This is true for us as individuals and as a collective. Each of us must struggle against the forces of oppression and coercion that we face in our daily lives. You might be fired from your job if you speak the truth to power. So be it. You might be de-certified by your professional association if you call out the lies within it. So be it. You might be insulted and ostracized by your friends and neighbors if you try to show them how they have been deceived. So be it. Your business might be bankrupted by a boycott organized by a collection of communist zealots. So be it. You might be assaulted by police for peacefully protesting against the tyranny of our oppressors. So be it.

You must find the courage within your own heart to do what you believe is right. The courage is there. You already have it. It is within you because the spirit of God is within you and it knows no fear, only love. To fly free like the butterfly you truly are, you must accept the death of the caterpillar and struggle through the chrysalis of fear—on your own. But you are never truly on your own. God is always with you. God is within you. If you are willing to accept it, God is you. If you are Christian then you know that the Holy Spirit dwells within you. You are God expressing through you in your manifestation as a particular human being at a particular moment in time. You are already “one with God”. You simply need to recognize this reality.

Freedom of Speech—Freedom from Fear

Fear is stalking the land. It is stealing our freedoms and our love. I implore you to take back your love in this week’s edition of “Isn’t That Ironic?”.

Are you familiar with the American painter, Norman Rockwell? This is his famous painting titled, “Freedom of Speech” It is one of a series he painted during the Second World War war—the four freedoms. They were: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom from want, freedom from fear.

Norman Rockwell is such a beloved painter because he painted real people, in real life. Part of his genius was that his paintings don’t just show a scene. They tell a story. And they were often inspired by real events. Such is the case with, "Freedom of Speech."

One evening in 1942, Rockwell attended the town meeting in Arlington, Vermont, where he lived for many years. On the agenda was the construction of a new school. It was a popular proposal, supported by everyone in attendance — except for one resident, who stood up to express his dissenting view. In Rockwell's scene, the man speaks his mind, unafraid to express a minority opinion and not intimidated by the status of those he's challenging. And while his neighbors may disagree, they're willing to hear what he has to say.

Look at his face. He shows no fear. He is a simple working man, plainly dressed. Amongst those who listen, are older and better-dressed men, clearly of higher status, wealth, and education. They listen politely, with obvious interest. They are not threatened by his dissenting opinion. There is no trace of feigned moral outrage that he would object to building a new school.

Particularly for those of you who are younger, I want you to know that there was a time when such an experience was common. We used to be able to disagree with one another without fear of retaliation. We could express even the most outlandish, ridiculous, unpopular ideas without fear of being insulted, fired, “canceled”, boycotted, slandered, arrested. Alas, that time is no more.

Today, most of us are afraid to even speak what is on our hearts. A recent poll by the Cato Institute in the United States found that two-thirds of adults say that, given the current political climate, they're afraid to honestly express their views. I think exactly the same thing is true everywhere. It’s true for me. I’m afraid to express my views in public.

And so, this ever-present dread has settled in. For fear of offending someone, challenging books go untaught in our schools. Deep conversations aren't had. Friendships aren't formed. Classmates and colleagues eye each other with suspicion or contempt. Even the grocery stores are full of bandits. I can’t recognize anyone. I refuse to wear a mask and all I see are pairs of furtive eyes above a train robber’s kerchief. Ninety percent of human communication is non-verbal. I can’t see their faces. I don’t know whether those furtive eyes look upon me with anger, with fear, with jealousy, with hatred. They look at me for a moment and then shuffle off to the bananas. Every place reeks of fear. I hate it. I hurry home with my groceries and ponder, “What have I become?”

Many of us have allowed fear to overtake love in our hearts. As the Master Teacher said, there is nothing to fear. Fear is the opposite of love. You might think that hate is the opposite of love, but hate is really a manifestation of fear. Look carefully at what you hate and you will find fear underneath it. Fear is always opposed to love. Where fear grows, love dies. That’s what is happening to us. We now fear our neighbors instead of loving them. Love your neighbor as yourself, Jesus said. Do not fear your neighbor. And yet, that’s what we’re doing.

Fear is insidious. Fear is debilitating. Fear enslaves. Fear destroys. If God is Love, as St. John says, what do you think is the opposite of love?

You are an eternally free child of God. You are an eternal being of light and love. That is who you are. Be, who you are. Be free. Be light unto the world. Be love.

Your body will become ill from time to time. Your body will wither away and die sometime. This is certain. But it is not to be feared. There is nothing to fear. Live in love—total love—and fear nothing.

Most of all, do not fear your brothers and sisters. They will not kill you. Keep your body healthy and this virus will not kill you. If you become ill, your doctor can prescribe a medicine that will restore your health. This minor illness is perfectly treatable. No one should die of Covid-19 any longer.

Open your hearts to love. Love one another with the unquenchable love that our divine creator placed into your hearts. And perfect love will cast out all fear.

Spring—Ironically, a Time for Pruning

It’s April, a time of new growth. Ironically, that means some pruning first. Read what I mean in this week’s edition of

My mind was wandering the other day and thinking about social media. I am on both Linkedin and Facebook. On Linkedin, there are a lot of people and businesses promoting themselves. It’s tiresome because I’m not interested in most of it, but it’s still better than Facebook. There I find everything from people ranting about some fault or foible in their fellow human, to cute kitten and baby photos that make you go, “ahhhhhh”.

It struck me that often these people are like dry leaves blown around by the wind. One moment they are blown and battered violently against a fence, the next moment they are lifted high into the air, enjoying weightless bliss and a grand vista of life below. These leaves usually end up in a gutter or ditch to slowly rot until they disappear altogether.

The problem is, they are unconnected to their Source of Life—the tree. The leaves that are still connected to the tree feel the same winds. They are buffeted by the wind, but not blown away. The wind passes, the sunshine returns, and the leaf continues to draw nourishment through it all. It once again feels the warm love of the sun and continues to grow. Through both wind and sun, it knows its oneness with the Source of Life.

The Master Teacher said, “I am the vine, you are the branches.” Most of us don’t really understand that metaphor but I grew grapevines for several years—even way up here in the North! Grapevines need to be pruned quite severely early in the spring. The root and base of the vine remain, year after year, the source of all growth. But large sections of last year’s growth on the branches are cut off and thrown away. You have to do this in order to get the best growth. That part of the branch that remains connected to the vine then regrows tremendously each year and produces abundant grapes.

That’s a lot like us. As we grow and mature, we find parts of us that we need to leave behind. They no longer suit us, no longer facilitate the growth and productivity of our soul. Old animosities, fears, grudges, the impatience and intolerance of our youth—we need to set them aside so our soul can sprout forth with a new luxuriance. Spring—a time of growth—yet, ironically, it is first a time for pruning. What do you need to leave behind in order to experience new growth?

I am in a prayer group and our reflective idea this week is to be constantly aware of the presence of God in our lives. That’s kind of like being the leaf on the tree—constantly feeling your connectedness to the Source of Life. We are constantly connected. We are one with that Source of Life. The irony is that we usually aren’t aware of it. Just like we are not aware of the air we breathe. It is in the air that we live and move and have our being, but we don’t even notice it. Similarly, St. Paul said that it is in God (the Source of Life) that we live and move and have our being. (Acts 17:28) Part of our growth is to remain aware of that oneness. May that consciousness be also in you!
