Who Were The Mathews Family?

These early Americans were the backbone of their society. I've created a story board which contains the known facts of the main individuals in my novels. If you'd like to know more about the members of The Mathews Family, please visit my Pinterest board The Mathews Family.

The Mathews Family-Free Download for Christmas!

My updated Book Club Edition of The Mathews Family is free to download December 2nd through 6th. Reduced from $3.99!

A blend of fact and fiction, this historical fiction is based upon the lives of my ancestors and includes transcripts of actual letters written between family members. Increase is less than age four when the Declaration of Independence is read and his older male relatives join the Continental Army. Along with his mother and siblings, they struggle to manage their farm with the men away. Cousin Phineas comes to live with them when his father is killed in a battle during the Revolutionary War. Even after the men return home, strife continues in central Massachusetts as veterans again take up arms against tax collectors during the period known as Shays's Rebellion. One of these battles take place inside their town. Hoping to find a more peaceful life, Increase's older brother John, brother-in-law Captain Jonathan Stone, and uncle Brigadier-General Rufus Putnam ("Father of Ohio") are among the "first 48" settlers to move to the frontier. Through the years of tribulation during the Indian War, they persevere to create lasting settlements at Marietta and Belpre, Ohio.

Take a look inside! I think you'll enjoy what you find.
