The Big Idea with John Scalzi

John Scalzi invited me over to his blog to talk about The Big Idea behind The First Sister, and... well, I didn't hold back! I talk about why the First Sister is a voiceless, nameless character, and how that connects to the real world #MeToo movement.

How to Create a Novel from a Short Story

Not many people know my novel actually started out as a short story I wrote for Odyssey Writing Workshop in 2016. It was a test to see if I could write a convincing romance, but it ended up being so much more when I fell in love with the world and decided to expand it into THE FIRST SISTER trilogy.

So how did I turn something 6,000 words into a few novels that's now 300,000 (and growing)? Check out the full post on Speculative Chic.
