A Conversation Between Writers - Diet is Die with a T
February 20, 2015
Brenda and I seem to obsess about dieting. Maybe if we lived closer (she's in Alabama and I'm in Maryland) we'd be a better influence on each other.
*_*_*_*_*
Brenda Williamson:
Made out my grocery list for dieting again. If only I'd lose as many pounds as I do diets. Decided this time to do a successful one- The South Beach Diet. Well, its successful if I stick to it! Actually most diets are successful, I’m the one that's the problem. No one has come out with the all you can eat mashed potato, mac &cheese, or cake diet. I like South Beach because all I have to do is follow their prepared menu every day. But first I have to throw out everything in the kitchen and restock with all the right foods.
~~~~~
KC Kendricks:
Diet is DIE with a T. I wish I could stick to one, any of them. My problem is I must eat to survive and I've no clue as to how little it takes to survive. Plus, I stress eat over work. I need to not give a crap about what goes on there and concentrate on happy thoughts.
+ + + +
Thankfully on my end, this conversation took place before the former CEO retired. Life is much better now. Read more here.
Seducing Light by KC Kendricks - #MSS79
February 14, 2015
Happy Valentine's Day and welcome to My Sexy Saturday #79! I wish you all a very romantic day no matter how you choose to celebrate it. We've no plans to go out but there is a bottle of wine reserved for a cozy evening on the sofa watching a to-be-decided movie.
Seducing Light is one of those stories that wrote itself. The words flowed onto the screen. The cover guru at Amber Allure gave it such a gorgeous cover - imagine my surprise with MySpace (of all places) banned it! Seriously. I don't "do" that form of social media any longer.
Without more rambling, here are seven sexy paragraphs from Seducing Light.
+*+*+*+*+
Nick grabbed my belt loops and pulled me to him. “Maybe after Aries Rising wraps, we can take in some sun.”
My spirit soared at his easy words. I hoped he meant it, that he could see us together in the future. Damn, but seducing Nick Light into a relationship was going to drive me crazy…or give me better control at keeping my mouth closed than I ever had before in my life. I slipped my arms around his waist. “You want a drink?”
He shook his head. “Maybe after we make love.”
Maybe my self-control needed more work because the question fell out of my mouth before I thought about it. “Is that what I am to you? Making love?”
Nick took a deep breath and swallowed. My heart stopped at the naked look he gave me, all barriers dropped, allowing me to glimpse his uncertainty over the course he was on.
“Yeah, Asher. I think you are."
“I’m glad, Nick, because that’s how it feels to me.” I pulled his lips to mine.
SEDUCING LIGHT is available at Amber Allure. http://www.amberquill.com/store/p/1183-Seducing-Light.aspx
About Seducing Light:
Asher Myles struggled to put his life back together after an identity thief striped him of everything but his talent for capturing light and shadow with a camera lens. With a new job and a new start, Asher’s on his way to Montana—and a meeting with the man he’s fantasized about since he first saw him on the silver screen.
Nick Light, actor, director, and Hollywood royalty, doesn’t like paparazzi. When he agrees to have his Montana ranch photographed for a style magazine, the unexpected happens—he falls for the man with the camera. Nick’s secret comes out when he realizes Asher is also gay.
If there’s one thing Nick can’t resist, it’s a man with a talent for seducing light.
A Conversation Between Writers - Dieting
February 13, 2015
Ever wonder what writers chat about? It's not always about the books. I have a long email conversation going back for years with my friend and colleague Brenda Williamson. We thought we'd share some of it with in an ongoing series we call A Conversation Between Writers.
*_*_*_*
Brenda Williamson:
Seems like forever since we last swapped emails. The word "BUSY" is too tame for what my life is.I've taken on a time-consuming chore of dieting. I didn't believe it was possible to lose as much as 1-2 lbs a week, but I started and I have now lost 13 lbs, in 10 days!Any way, because I'm so experienced with what I can and cannot eat on the diet, it’s not too bad coming up with meals. I’m happy with the results so far. Just dreading that plateau.Since I don't have any books coming out, I don't have promo stuff to worry so much about, so I quit a few group blogs. I didn’t have much to say and they didn’t get a lot of traffic.Well I'm off to go get another couple hundred words written on one of my WIPs.What's new with you?
~~~~~~~ KC Kendricks:
I'm jealous - 13 pounds in 10 days! The weather took a turn for the worse. I’d like to start back walking. That will help me. I swear walking is like a magic bullet for me. When I walk, every day, and keep an eye on calories, I lose. I don't have any plans to go back to Weight Watchers any time soon. I no sooner got all the point values firmly in mind and they changed the program. Pi$$ed me off.
Busy has been my watchword, too. I’ve been working on my genealogy. The search has been fun, but I'm ready to step back for a bit. It gave me something good to switch on and off with writing, but I have to get my current WIP finished. I've only worked on it in fits and spurts while I completed other stories. Time to get serious about it.
Saturday there is a “party” online. I'm going to pop in and out and post a few excerpts. Naturally, it's also the day I planned to take a trip to Baltimore and play around.
Time to get back to the wip. Great to hear from you. There are echoes in my office :)

Bling!
February 10, 2015
Don't ask me why.
Some people smoke, or drink, or party. Some people buy shoes, or coats, or handbags. Me? I buy jewelry. I like bling. So I got some new bling.
It's not like it's a real diamond. I call it trash with flash but I've had several pieces from this line and it holds up pretty well under the abuse I give it. My honey laughed at me but I don't care. I like to glance down at my keyboard from time-to-time and see bling. So snicker away, old boy.
Anything that sparkles as I write is a Good Thing in my world.

New River Gorge Bridge
February 7, 2015
Today would have been my grandfather's 105th birthday. In his honor we had a sip of Blackberry Brandy, a daily shot of which Pop credited with keeping him healthy. He was 95 when he passed and trust me - he only went because he wanted to go. He told us on his birthday he was ready to check out and he died on March 7, four weeks to the day.
My grandparents loved to travel the byways of Appalachia. I've long wanted to go through the Great Smokey Mountains and see the vistas they described and perhaps even visit the Cherokee Indian Reservation as they did. A lot of years have passed since their trips and one place thing they never got to see is the New River Gorge Bridge. I don't know who took that photo but WOW. Thank you whoever you are. It's gorgeous.
I confess. This bridge fascinates me. It's three-quarters of a mile long and almost 900 feet above the river. Why the hell I want to drive across it is beyond my reckoning, but I want to do it. And I'm going to do it this year. My honey and I spent part of the day planning a weekend away to go see the bridge. Yea!
I'm not sure of the date yet, but it won't be until all chance of icy bridge conditions are past. I might be crazy to want to drive across a road 900 feet in the air, but I'm not totally nuts.

A Conversation Between Writers - Snow!
February 6, 2015
Wherein Brenda and KC discuss the non-blizzard of January...
Once again the lads on the Weather Channel missed us by a country mile. Our 4-6 inches was barely 1. Men can't measure. Himself parked the tractor with the snow blower on the patio to be ready and it was a wasted effort. Now I wonder how long the thing will sit there before he moves it back to its little shed. Do you have time to go over a manuscript for me? It's a little piece about the Big Misunderstanding and finding the one who got away and getting him back. ~ KC Kendricks
~~~~~
I never trust the weather people. I have found that the ACCU Weather app I put on my phone is fairly accurate.I'll be out all day/ most night tomorrow. I can read it Monday if that's soon enough.Every day I try to write on my story, but the last two, things just got in the way. I wish we'd get some snow with the cold. ~ Brenda Williamson
Give Me One Night for My Sexy Saturday
January 31, 2015
Can you believe we're a month into the New Year? Is that scary or amazing? Maybe it's a bit of both. For My Sexy Saturday #77, here are seven sexy paragraphs from the best seller Give Me One Night. Enjoy!
*_*_*_*
“Are you going to tell me your name?”
I flashed my pearly whites at him. “Just before you come for the first time.”
“Cocky bastard, aren’t you?”
“You’ll have to wait a while to find that out.”
Quick as lightning, something I’d become acquainted with this evening, Blue Eyes whirled and wrapped his arms around my shoulders. His mouth came down on mine, hard, demanding. Hot. White heat coursed through me, striking my groin with a hammer-like blow and settling there with burning insistence. I opened my lips to him, allowing him to plunder, while I soared, reveling in the jolts of arousal that threatened to send me over the edge into insanity. My lungs screamed for air and I sucked in a deep breath. His arms tightened.
My turn.
I pushed my tongue past his, delving into the heat of his mouth. He moaned, a deep rumble that started in his chest and vibrated out of him. I thrust my pelvis to his, scoring the reward of knowing he was equally hard.
GIVE ME ONE NIGHT is available at the Amber Allure imprint of Amber Quill Press.
About Give Me One Night
Brody O’Connor joins the revelry of the yearly pub crawl hunting a like-minded man for night of fun and frolic with no strings attached. When a mystery man in an emerald shirt engages Brody’s interest, it doesn’t take long for the hunter to become the prey.
Well-matched with his mystery man, Brody regrets his ‘no strings’ approach to a night of shared passion that leaves him hungry for more. The morning after, Evan is gone as agreed. Brody knows it was a mistake to let him go, and vows to find him.
Evan never expected to meet someone like Brody. Now Brody wants to change the rules, and Evan agrees. He’ll give Brody one more night to convince him to stay.
Our online legacy
January 28, 2015
I read an interesting article earlier today about our online legacy. Who will "handle" our online affairs when we pass to the great beyond? Having no biological children of my own, this gave me pause.
Just who the fuck do I want seeing behind the scenes of my life? Ummmm. No one, that's who. Yet I know these things will need to be handled.
My computer is a wonderful tool. It's like an extension of my brain. I can't imagine a time in my life when I'll walk away from the keyboard (or other interface) and never look back. Maybe when I'm 103 years old or something. As crazy as it sounds I live in my cyber world equally with the physical world around me. My cyber world is my escape. The thought of someone intruding, even after I'm gone, does not please me.
Well, I need to get over myself. Somewhere along the line I'm going to get to the stage of life where the things of the world will slip away. Remembering that, being aware of it's approach, is incentive to make some plans now.
Who will manage my digital legacy? It's something to think about.
Waiting for snow
January 24, 2015
The weather reports sounded dire. Snow. Sleet. Freezing rain. It was to begin at 4:00 pm on Friday. Then it was 7:00 pm. Then midnight.
I went to bed without snow.
Yesterday, my beloved drove the John Deere onto the patio and parked it, this so neither of us would have to trudge about in the snow behind the shed to get it started this morning. We anticipated putting that four-thousand dollar snow blower attachment to good use. After all, the Weather Channel predicted snow.
It's now 6:45 am Saturday. I'm still waiting for the snow. And daylight to see the snow.
Dear Jim Cantore - I won't be pleased if when the daylight arrives I have no snow.
