Today’s the day! 🤩
Monster of the Daggers Mountains is out NOW!

I had so much fun (and some tears) writing this steamy, snarky adventure about the man who killed a god and the woman sent to hunt him.
And today, it’s not my story anymore.
It’s yours.

Selling Books While the World Burns

I’m not going into detail here. I don’t have it in me to argue on the internet about why you should care about equal rights, environmental protection, keeping good relationships with our lovely neighbors (Canada, I adore you!), or the goddamn Constitution of the United States of America.
That’s not my job. Not under this name, at least.
No, Meredith Hart’s job is giving you a way out.
Stay focused, my friends. Stay aware of what’s going on, call your representatives, strengthen your community.
And then rest.
Take what actions you can in this beautiful, broken world… and also give yourself permission to kick back with a good book and enter a world where magic is real and love solves everything.
Fantasy is escapist, and as Tolkien says, that is its glory. When you are imprisoned, isn’t it your duty to escape?

So I’m going to keep talking about books and fantasy romance, even when it feels like the world is burning.
And I want you to keep escaping.

Fly, my pretties!
One hundred books is a LOT of books.
Maybe not when you’re looking at ebook downloads, say. But when you’re looking at your dining room table?

It took about a week, but I finally got all the paperbacks signed and packaged, along with the character art from @marybegletsova, in the *amazing* boxes the NerdFam designed for me.

Then I spent some time chilling with my local postman (a very cool dude, if you ever need to mail 100 packages in Raymond, Maine) and finally, all the boxes went in the mail!
My dining room table is mine again!
It’s been awesome, and a little surreal, to see the unboxing videos and reviews from influencers like brit.readz on TikTok and marked.withpassion on Instagram. Thank you all so much, and I’m delighted you enjoyed the book!

I Say ‘No’ to A.I.
Things I never thought I’d have to say… No, robots didn’t write these books.

Every single word, from the fights to the snark to the steam, was written by an actual human being: Meredith Hart of Maine!

Check out your favorite tropes and support a fellow human!

That’s a LOT of books!
Yeah… I might be nuts.
As I mentioned on my blog (here), I’ve never done much for book releases before. In the past, I’ve just hit the “publish” button and hoped for the best. But not this year.
Oh no. I’m going big.

I partnered with the amazing NerdFam to do a big promo push for Monster of the Dagger Mountains, which comes out next month.
I’ll be sending 100 gorgeous book boxes to NerdFam reviewers this week. So I’d better start signing!

New Year, New Art! 😍
I’ve loved WinterOfHerDiscontent for ages, and I was lucky enough to work with her for Monster of the Dagger Mountains.
She created this amazing image of Reznyk and Kira in the Dagger Mountains. I love how she captured both the characters, the setting, and the fairy tale vibe. And her art is just plain GORGEOUS!
Here it is…

Monster of the Dagger Mountains, my new epic romantasy about the man who killed a god and the woman sent to hunt him, come out next month!

Sneak Peek at Monster of the Dagger Mountains
My next book, Monster of the Dagger Mountains, is coming this February!
This epic romantasy about the man who murdered a god and the woman sent to hunt him is an enemies-to-lovers adventure perfect for readers who want swords, sorcery, and spice!
But you don’t have to wait until February for a little sneak peek…

“You?” I ask, in a strangled sort of voice. “Where are you from?”
His hand traces a path down my arm and dances across the bare skin of my thigh, teasingly close to the aching heat in my core.
“Blackwater,” he whispers, his breath hot against my neck, his fingers slowly edging up the inside of my thigh.
The sound that comes out of my mouth is more of a whimper than an actual word. I take a breath and try again.
“I— I’ve never heard of Blackwater,” I say, trying to pretend we’re still having a conversation and his fingers aren’t dancing along the hem of my shorts while his lips trace a path down my neck.
“Of course you haven’t,” he replies, with a growl that echoes between my legs. “You’re from Silver City. As far as you’re concerned, the world ends at the far bank of the Ever-Reaching River.”
I groan in response and then, to keep from grabbing his hand myself and pressing it against the pulsing, aching heat between my legs, I sink my fingers into his hair and drag him down with me, until I’m flat on my back on the mattress, my nipples hard as stones against my shirt, his lips and tongue driving into me.
He breaks our kiss, and I stare up at him, the contours of his mouth outlined by what little light remains in the storm-darkened night sky. His hair falls over his shoulders, and his eyes gleam in the darkness. Some part of me remembers wolves—
And then his hand is back on my thigh, sliding up the inside of my shorts, and I can’t stop the whimpering moan that slips from my lips.
“Why are you here, Kira from Silver City?” he rasps. “What are you hunting?”

Meet the Characters: Kira Silver

After two years of playing by their rules, staying invisible, and doing what she was told, Kira Silver is fresh out of f**ks to give.
This mission to the Dagger Mountains might be her last chance to prove herself to the Towers and uncover what they’re hiding about her parents. Or it could be a convenient way for the Towers to get rid of her.
Either way, Kira isn’t going to be their pawn.
And when a handsome stranger shows up in the middle of a storm and starts asking questions, Kira is ready to play along.
Hells, there are worse ways to keep your bed warm in the middle of nowhere.

The Story Behind the Dagger Mountains
I grew up in Colorado, at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, doing things I thought were normal. Like week-long backpacking trips in the Rocky Mountains as a family vacation.

I’ve always been an outdoor-oriented person, but when I was around 10 or 11, my mom rented an RV and took the family to Rocky Mountain National Park.
And I fell in love.
If there was any chance I’d grow up to be a normal person, it went out the window on that trip. (Subsequent trips to Moab and Glacier just reinforced that. Now I’m the kind of person who puts “get outside” on my daily to-do list.)
As a ten-year-old kid standing in the shadows of 14,000 feet of granite and snow, I promised myself I would someday write a fantasy novel set in those mountains.
At the time, I called them “The Mountains of Fire and Ice.” The story would need to be epic, kid me decided, with magic, wild creatures, and – of course – a really kick ass woman.
Thirty years later… I changed the name to the Dagger Mountains.
And I wrote the book.

We have a release date!
My next book, Monster of the Dagger Mountains, is coming soon!
This epic romantasy about the man who murdered a god and the woman sent to hunt him is an enemies-to-lovers adventure perfect for readers who want swords, sorcery, and spice!
And it’s coming on February 18!

Three years of failed magical studies at the Towers of Silver City have left Kira’s future hanging by a thread. She has one last chance to prove herself – a covert mission to capture the former student who murdered a god. All Kira has to do is gain the Godkiller’s trust. Without losing her heart.
Reznyk is a monster. Haunted by the price he paid for the magic he controls, he fled to the Dagger Mountains. When a group of mercenaries discovers him, Reznyk infiltrates their camp, ready to fight or run. Until he meets Kira.
Reznyk’s plan to seduce Kira for information turns into a fiery connection neither can resist. Trusting her is impossible. Revealing the truth would uncover painful secrets he tried to bury. But sending her away leaves Kira at the mercy of the Towers, who will stop at nothing to capture his magic.
Reznyk fought a god. But can he fight his heart?
