Joseph Quinn Accidentally Calls Barry Keoghan During Beatles Biopic Screen Test: ‘I Look More Ringo Than Ringo’ | Video

Screen tests for Sam Mendes’ four Beatles films are ongoing and we know that because Joseph Quinn accidentally interrupted his co-star Barry Keoghan’s Friday while on the U.K. radio.

As the “Fantastic Four: First Steps” press tour chugs on, Quinn and fellow MCU star Ebon Moss-Bachrach appeared on BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show and played one of their most popular games called “Sit Down, Stand Up.” The point is for the celebs to call a famous friend and ask the titular question: are they sitting down or up and about. Quinn called his Beatles co-star Keoghan and caught him in the middle of work.

“I’m sat down,” Keoghan replied to Quinn’s question. “What’s happening? Are you pregnant? What’s happening?”

The “Stranger Things” alum explained the game and Keoghan lit up exclaiming “What’s happening, everyone in England, U.K.? What’s up?” When Quinn tried to end the call, Keoghan said he wanted to make the most of it, so the topic of what was interrupted arose. Quinn and Keoghan are parts of the Fab 4 appearing in Mendes’ Beatles films. Quinn as George Harrison, Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and rounded out with Paul Mescal and Harris Dickinson as Paul McCartney and John Lennon. It turns out the radio call was in the middle of Keoghan’s screen test.

“I’m doing the screen test,” Keoghan said. “It’s great. I look amazing. I’m not even messing — I look amazing. I look more Ringo than Ringo looks Ringo.”

While things were going well, Keoghan added that the tests were still missing one Beatle.

“He’s far away from home,” Quinn said. “He misses you, though … I hope the test goes well, mate. And thanks for answering.”

All four of Mendes’ Beatles films will land in April 2028 with each one focusing on a different member of the iconic band.

Watch the full video of Quinn and Moss-Bachrach on the BBC 1 show above.

JD Vance Tweets Demanding Epstein Probe Resurface After VP Calls WSJ Trump Report ‘Bulls–t’: ‘This You?’

Right after blasting the Wall Street Journal for its report about President Donald Trump allegedly sending “bawdy” letters to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein for his birthday, the Vice President JD Vance got a taste of his own medicine when the internet pulled receipts of him pushing journalists to dive deeper into the Epstein case.

“Forgive my language but this story is complete and utter bullshit. The WSJ should be ashamed for publishing it. Where is this letter?” Vance wrote on X. “Would you be shocked to learn they never showed it to us before publishing it? Does anyone honestly believe this sounds like Donald Trump?”

And just like that, the internet responded to Vance’s apparent hypocrisy by resurfacing his 2021 tweets where he shamed journalists for not diving deeper into the Epstein case.

“If you’re a journalist and you’re not asking questions about this case you should be ashamed of yourself,” Vance said at the time. “What purpose do you even serve? I’m sure there’s a middle class teenager somewhere who could use some harassing right now but maybe try to do your job once in a while.”

The tweets started coming.

“Amazing what a few years will do,” one X user wrote online over a repost of Vance’s tweet.

“This you?” another person questioned in the comment section of Vance’s post.

Another X user pointed out what they feel is another instance of Vance shifting his previous beliefs and/or principles when it benefits him politically.

“The scary thing about Vance is he just adopts this extreme moral righteousness when taking a position, and will be just as morally righteous in the other direction when it’s politically convenient,” the social media user said.

Vance’s remarks came as the Trump administration grapples with blowback over its handling of the so-called Epstein files and the president’s past relationship with the convicted sex offender.

Earlier this month, Trump’s DOJ determined that after their investigation, they found no evidence of the rumored client list. “This systematic review revealed no incriminating ‘client list.’ There was also no credible evidence found that Epstein blackmailed prominent individuals as part of his actions,” the memo read. “We did not uncover evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties.”

Rosie O’Donnell Questions Future of Free Speech, Hollywood Careers After Paramount Cancels Colbert’s ‘Late Show’ | Video

Rosie O’Donnell is questioning how long Hollywood’s Trump critics have before their jobs are threatened, after the shock announcement that “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” will end next May, a decision numerous critics allege was done to appease Donald Trump.

O’Donnell, who has only become more outspoken against President Trump in recent months, posted concerns about the future of free speech following Thursday’s news that CBS was canceling “The Late Show.”

“How long do all of the voices against this horrific administration have in terms of their careers and ability to make money,” O’Donnell asked on TikTok. “Because this madman, this mentally incapacitated, physically ill, mentally ill man is spiraling out of control. His dementia is out of control. His self-regulation – which he has none of to begin with – is missing. He’s horrible.”

The cancellation, cited by CBS as a “financial decision,” came just days after the late night host derided his parent company’s $16 million settlement with President Donald Trump. Colbert let viewers know in his Thursday monologue that he was informed “just last night” the show was being canceled. That’s not just him being replaced as host, but an end to the enduring show in total.

“I’m not being replaced. This is all just going away,” Colbert said. “And I do want to say that the folks at CBS have been great partners. I’m so grateful to the Tiffany Network for giving me this chair and this beautiful theater to call home. And of course I’m grateful to you, the audience, who have joined us every night in here out there all around the world.”

Colbert’s show will run until May 2026 and then that’s that. “The Late Show” began back in 1993 with David Letterman as host.

Trump and O’Donnell have been trading blows these past few weeks. The president even posted that he was considering revoking O’Donnell’s citizenship after a number of viral comments.

“Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship,” Trump wrote via Truth Social. “She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ Release Pushed Back 3 Weeks

You’ll have to wait slightly longer for the third chapter in Sony Pictures Animation’s “Spider-Verse” movie. “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” is now set for release on June 25, 2027. This is just a three week bump from its last announced release date of June 4, 2027 — and it can’t come soon enough.

“Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” serves as the follow-up to 2023’s “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.” (Originally, it was titled “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part 2.”) The idea was for the third film to come out right after the sequel, with the first date being March 29, 2024 (less than a year later). There was then the date of June 27, 2025. Of course, due to complications with the SAG-AFTRA strikes, which pushed back voice recording, and additional production delays, the movie was pushed. Earlier this year Sony announced the 2027 date, which they have now slightly adjusted.

The date is perfect since 100% of schools will be out at end of June by that date, opposed to 65% on the original date of June 4. It’s also a better date for international audiences.

Bob Persichetti, who was one of the directors on the first film and who helped extensively on the sequel, will be returning for “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,” along with Justin K. Thompson, one of the directors on “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.” The screenplay is currently credited to Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (who are also producing), along with David Callaham.

The first film won the Best Animated Feature Oscar at the 91st Academy Awards and made $394 million worldwide. The sequel, which was nominated for the Academy Award, made $690.8 million worldwide.

Additionally, a live-action “Spider-Noir,” with Nicolas Cage returning as the character he voices in the animated films, will premiere on MGM+ in 2026. At least that will tide us over!

Also shared Friday, Sony Pictures Animation dated “Buds,” an original animated feature, for March 12, 2027.

7 TV Shows to Watch If You Love James Gunn’s ‘Superman’

Superman” has ignited a yearning for more heroic storytelling – whether it’s from people in capes or just through acts of kindness.

If you’re looking for more stories that capture the vibe of director James Gunn’s “Superman” film, but want it in TV size, there are more than enough options. Multiple renditions of Clark Kent exist on the small screen, and some of them are even pretty good. But there are more options than just other Superman stories.

From diving deeper into the DC universe Gunn is building to finding more shows that embody punk rock kindness, these are the TV shows you should watch after “Superman.”

Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent and Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane in Elizabeth Tulloch and Tyler Hoechlin in a still from ‘Superman & Lois’ (The CW)Superman & Lois

David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan’s Clark Kent and Lois Lane have crackling chemistry in “Superman,” and if you want more of that, you don’t have to stray far from the source material. “Superman & Lois” follows the Kryptonian years into his career, he’s married to Lois, and they have two teenage boys together. Tyler Hoechlin and Bitsie Tulloch are equally great as the iconic couple, and watching them juggle superheroics with raising a family is what makes the series so strong.

Tom Welling (Credit: CW)Tom Welling (Credit: CW)Smallville

It’s a classic for a reason! “Smallville” boasts 10 long seasons of origin story for Clark Kent as he navigates learning about his powers – and his rogues gallery – before ever taking flight or donning the red and blue tights. The original CW superhero series has a bit of that early-aughts cheesiness to it, but it becomes endearing rather than a distraction. Tom Welling is a fine Clark Kent, but Michael Rosenbaum’s Lex Luthor is just as captivating, if not more. If you wanted, you could probably head-canon your way into saying “Smallville” was a prequel to James Gunn’s “Superman.”

The Arrowverse (Credit: The CW)The Arrowverse (Credit: The CW)The Arrowverse

Why pick one show from The CW’s expansive Arrowverse when you can get the heaviest dose of DC content by ripping through them all? “Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” “Supergirl,” “Black Lightning,” and technically “Superman & Lois” all combined for a fun small-screen universe that coincided with the height of the MCU’s popularity.

There are plenty of familiar characters and even bigger swings with lesser-known DC entities. There are crossovers, big and small, that bring the stars of each show together for larger evils. If you start The Arrowverse now, you might be done by the time “Superman 2” comes out.

NBCThe Good Place

Few shows understand the “Superman” creed of kindness being punk rock more than “The Good Place.” The series follows a group of people who died and found themselves in the titular Good Place, which isn’t quite what they expect. What follows is four seasons of these people learning to be good and the virtue of that kindness. Get your dose of punk rock kindness from one of the best shows of the last decade.

peacemaker-john-cenaHBO Max’s “Peacemaker” was the most in-demand superhero series in the U.S. in February 2022, according to Parrot Analytics.Peacemaker

“Peacemaker” Season 1 landed a couple of years before “Superman,” and Season 2 is set to arrive just a month after the movie. For the fans ready to be all in on the new DC cinematic universe but missed the boat initially, “Peacemaker” is likely going to be a shockingly important cog in that greater machine. And if you wanted more James Gunn writing – with even more focus on his strength of working with lesser-known, borderline loser characters – “Peacemaker” has the sauce.

A still from “Creature Commandos.” (DC/Max)Creature Commandos

The first animated series to be a part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC universe once again puts a group of rejects and losers together on a team to stop a greater evil. Also written by Gunn, the series also introduces fans to Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo), who appears in “Superman” as well. If the character’s limited screentime still had you enticed by what he was doing with the government, then tune in for “Creature Commandos.”

“My Adventures with Superman” (Credit: Max)My Adventures with Superman

“My Adventures with Superman” has a lot going for it. Gorgeous animation style, anime inspirations, and a stellar Clark Kent thanks to “The Boys” star Jack Quaid. If you want even more Superman in his early days, then treat this HBO Max series like an adult Saturday morning cartoon. You won’t be disappointed.

Mehcad Brooks Exits ‘Law & Order’ After 3 Seasons

Mehcad Brooks has solved his last case on “Law & Order” after three seasons, TheWrap has learned.

The actor, who joined the cast as a series regular in Season 22 as Detective Jalen Shaw, has left the series ahead of Season 25. The decision was mutual from both Brooks and the show’s creative team, as the actor pursues other opportunities.

It’s unclear if Brooks’ character will receive a farewell on the show or if his exit will be explained off-camera. Casting is underway for a new detective to join the cast in his absence.

The rest of the “Law & Order” team is set to return for the milestone season. That includes Tony Goldwyn and Reid Scott, whose contracts were also up for renewal this year. The rest of the ensemble includes Maura Tierney, Hugh Dancy and Odelya Halevi.

Detective Shaw joined the “Law & Order” team after the exit of Anthony Anderson’s Kevin Bernard. The character often headlined intricate cases exploring the dynamics of being a Black man in the police force.

“There’s a system in place that is filled with traps for people,” Brooks told TheWrap in a 2022 interview. “Jaylen being a Black man who is a cop — not a cop who’s Black — he understands that there’s a system that was put in place centuries ago that every Black person has to fight against. Maybe you can escape it, maybe you can’t … He never wanted to be the guardian of that system.”

Brooks is currently recurring on Season 3 of HBO Max’s “And Just Like That.” He will also appear in “Mortal Kombat 2,” set for release later this year.

“Law & Order” is executive produced by Dick Wolf, Rick Eid, Alex Hall and Peter Jankowski. It’s produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Stuido Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment.

The show is set to return for Season 25 this fall on NBC.

Trump Sues Wall Street Journal for $10 Billion Over Epstein Letter Story

Update, Friday evening: The Wall Street Journal defended the reporting and vowed to fight the lawsuit in a statement Friday evening. Read more here.

President Donald Trump sued the Wall Street Journal for $10 billion on Friday, TheWrap has learned, one day after the paper reported he had contributed a “bawdy” letter in a leather-bound compilation of birthday messages for “pal” Jeffrey Epstein in 2003.

The president filed his lawsuit in federal court for the Southern District of Florida, claiming libel against Rupert Murdoch and Dow Jones, WSJ’s publisher, and seeking damages “not to be less than $10 billion dollars,” per the filing. Trump is also suing the reporters who wrote the story, Joe Palazzolo and Khadeeja Safdar.

“I look forward to getting Rupert Murdoch to testify in my lawsuit against him and his ‘pile of garbage’ newspaper, the WSJ,” Trump posted on Truth Social earlier in the day. “That will be an interesting experience!!!”

The Wall Street Journal on Thursday reported Trump sent Epstein a birthday note that contained “several lines of typewritten text framed by the outline of a naked woman, which appears to be hand-drawn with a heavy marker.” The note included an imaginary conversation between Trump and Epstein that was written in the third person.

One section of the note, according to the WSJ, included the following lines:

Donald: We have certain things in common, Jeffrey.

Jeffrey: Yes, we do, come to think of it.

Donald: Enigmas never age, have you noticed that?

Trump’s note, according to the WSJ, finished by saying “may every day be another wonderful secret.”

Trump, less than an hour after the story was published, said the report was bogus on social media and vowed to sue Murdoch and the WSJ. He also denied he wrote the birthday note in the WSJ story, telling the outlet: “I never wrote a picture in my life. I don’t draw pictures of women.” He added, “It’s not my language. It’s not my words.”

The Journal’s report followed criticisms of the Trump administration by many pro-MAGA commentators and influencers over the investigation into Epstein, after the Justice Department and FBI said last week there was no incriminating Epstein client list to release or proof Epstein blackmailed prominent individuals.

To point to a few notable examples, Tucker Carlson called out Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi, saying “you’re not going to shout me down” for asking “pretty reasonable questions.” And The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh also said he will not drop the issue, even though the president would like conservative commentators to do so.

“I want to make this very clear to those on the right, including the president himself, who are telling us to just drop the subject and move on. We can’t drop it,” Walsh said on his podcast.

On Thursday night, Trump said he ordered Attorney General Bondi to “produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, subject to Court approval.” He added “This SCAM, perpetuated by the Democrats, should end, right now!”

Friday’s lawsuit adds to a growing list of media companies the president has sued in the last year. Disney paid Trump $15 million in late 2024 to settle a lawsuit after ABC’s George Stephanopoulos said the president was “liable for rape” multiple times on air; in fact, Trump was found liable for sexual abuse, which carries a different definition in New York, where the E. Jean Carroll case took place.

And earlier this month, Paramount said it would pay Trump $16 million to settle his lawsuit against the company, after he claimed “60 Minutes” had “deceptively edited” its interview with Kamala Harris leading up to the 2024 election.

The Wall Street Journal did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

Trump’s $1.1 Billion Cuts to NPR, PBS Pass Republican-Controlled House

The House of Representatives voted 216-213 on Thursday night to approve $9 billion in spending cuts, including $1.1 billion from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting – representing the entirety of two years’ worth of federal funding for NPR and PBS.

Passage by the Republican-controlled House sends the bill on to the president’s desk for signing.

Katherine Maher, President and CEO of NPR, immediately slammed the unusual congressional move as an “unwarranted dismantling of beloved local civic institutions, and an act of Congress that disregards the public will.”

“Two-thirds of Americans support federal funding for public media, and believe that it is a good value for taxpayer dollars,” Maher said. “Americans listen to their local NPR stations daily, watch their favorite PBS shows loyally, raise their children on educational television, and listen to music stations that showcase the best of our home-grown music traditions.”

The Senate had voted 51-48 on Wednesday to cut the already-approved spending, which also cuts $8 billion from foreign aid, including to the U.S. Agency for International Development and programs for global health and refugee assistance. The Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, known as PEPFAR, was spared a $400 million cut in a concession to win the votes of Republican senators who objected to cutting the popular Bush-era funding.

The White House requested the package, which as passed both chambers with only Republican votes – including some who publicly voiced their concerns about gutting public media. Two Republicans representatives, Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania and Michael Turner of Ohio, opposed the measure in the House, while Republicans Senators Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska also voted against it. Democrats were unified in both chambers.

The $1.1 billion for the CPB is the full amount it was due to receive over the next two years. The White House has criticized the public media system as biased and unnecessary, and sought earlier this year to terminate its board members, including Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman and two others.

The CPB distributes the bulk of the funds to more than 1,500 public TV and radio stations, with the rest going to National Public Radio and the Public Broadcasting Service.

NPR and PBS are expected to weather the cuts, as only a small percentage of their funding comes from taxpayers. But the cuts will force programming and headcount reductions at many local stations as soon as this fall, with some public stations receiving as much as half of their overall budgets from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

“Supporters of defunding are fixated on NPR and PBS, but in reality the cuts will be felt where these services are needed most,” Maher said. “Stations in places like West Virginia, and those serving tribal nations, receive more than 50% of their budget from federal funding. Public radio provides local programming that would otherwise be unavailable — coverage of town councils, statehouse affairs, local elections, and local music.”

‘Gutfeld!’ Gangs Up on CBS Reporter for ‘PTSD’ Diagnosis From Trump Rally Shooting: ‘Main Character Syndrome’ | Video

CBS correspondent Scott MacFarlane said he was “diagnosed with PTSD in 48 hours” following his experience covering the Butler, Pennsylvania, rally where Donald Trump was nearly assassinated because his supporters turned on members of the press – and the “Gutfeld!” gang couldn’t contain their giggles.

MacFarlane, who was onsite for the July 2024 incident, said on Chuck Todd’s “The Chuck Toddcast” that “for those of us there, it was such horror because you saw an emerging America.”

“I got put on trauma leave,” MacFarlane said. “Not because of the shooting but because — you saw it in the eyes. The reaction of the people. They were coming for us. If he didn’t jump up with his fist, they were going to come kill us. There is a subset — not everybody — dozens of people in the crowd to start confronting us, saying, ‘You did this, this is your fault, you caused this, you killed him.’ And they were going to beat us with their hands.”

If MacFarlane was looking for sympathy, he wasn’t going to find it on the Fox News late-night show.

“It shows you the level of main character syndrome,” said panelist and comedian Joe DeVito. “That they were at a place, a man died, the guy running for president almost got his head blown off on live TV, and this guy’s like, “What about me? What about what I went through?'”

DeVito said had he been there, he would’ve gotten PTSD, too – from the Secret Service detail.

“All these tiny little chubby ladies,” DeVito said. “It was the most bizarre — I would have been freaked out by that. I didn’t know the Secret Service would have two dozen tiny Melissa McCarthys climbing over to save your life.”

Host Greg Gutfeld steered the conversation for a moment to over-labeling of mental conditions.

“This actually — it speaks to something everyone is kind of scared to talk about, which is the overdiagnosis of PTSD,” Gutfeld said. “It used to be just for people that suffered war trauma or just violent trauma. But now it’s like people say, ‘I have PTSD, I had a terrible boss. I was at a rally.'”

The Free Press editor Will Rahn then chimed in: “Listen, I’m a little soft on this issue, I’m millennial. I was traumatized on the way here. So I feel for the guy. Listen, people snap, weird things happen. I don’t know. Here’s the thing. Going on that main character syndrome thing — there’s this big reward for emoting, for going on and being like, ‘Let me tell you about my feelings’,” on Chuck Todd’s podcast audience, about how I felt’ … and it’s like, I’m an editor. A reporter comes to me and is like, ‘Let me tell you about my feelings,’ and I’m like, ‘No, the story is the president got his ear shot off — not how you felt, how people gave you dirty looks.'”

Watch the entire exchange in the video above.
