N. M. Chambers was born in Philadelphia and spent much of her childhood and early adulthood practicing the flute, writing poetry, playing video games with her brother, watching adventure movies, and listening to music while reading books and song lyrics.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in social anthropology from Harvard University and a law degree from Harvard Law School. After becoming a certified yoga instructor in 2005, she eventually traveled to India and studied writing at Stanford University’s Continuing Studies program, where the seeds of her debut novel, Eye of Fire, were sewn. She lives in the heart of Silicon Valley in California.
