The Romance Reviews’ Q and A
NAUGHTY KNIGHT EXCERPT
For a minute, he just stared at the vision in front of him. He’d had only seven cans of Coors at this ungodly hour of…well, morning, so he wasn’t really that drunk. Which meant, he wasn’t passed out dreaming about the beautiful woman in the same dress that he’d seen her wear the first time they had had dinner at the convent. No. She wasn’t a dream. She was here. In his house, glaring at him with her hands on her hips. Good fucking God. She’d been with Teta only a few days and she had already learned how to act like that old bat. Percival grinned. He moved his head to the side as he continued to watch her. Three days of not touching her had made him hornier than a rabbit at springtime. And he bet, if he so much as touched her dress right now, he would have a full erection. As it was, he was already beginning to turn damn hard just by looking at her.
“Hey, baby.”
Addie’s scowl deepened. “You said you’re giving me time to think. Your family said you’re giving me a chance? What in the world are they talking about?”
“Chance?”
“Don’t lie. Your brothers told me so.”
“You believe my brothers?”
“Yes. One hundred percent. Now, you need to explain.”
He loved his family, but sometimes they just didn’t know when to step back. “How did you get here, by the way?”
“Gawain. He’s outside in his car. He said he’d marry me today if you don’t stop your drama.”
Percival picked up his cell phone, then speed dialed Gawain’s number. Of course Gawain didn’t just pick up his phone, he had to say something smartass, too.
“Thank you for calling Triple X Video store. How may I help your dick?”
“Get the hell off my property,” Percival snarled.
“Ohh. The bear is mad because his dick got hard and no hole to—”
“Fuck you, Gawain. Leave.”
“Okay. Okay. I’m just doing my job here.”
“What job? Irritating me?”
Gawain let out an exaggerating sigh. “Helping Tristan and Julie find a little respite.”
“Explain.”
“Bro, Tristan said their supplies of tissue boxes are gone and they’re running low on toilet paper because Addie wouldn’t stop crying. He also said that his and Julie’s ears felt like they are full of fluff because Addie wouldn’t stop talking about you, how great you are, how fucking handsome you are. She even told them how great you smelled. Yew! They are tired of hearing your good qualities. Tristan nearly threw up when Addie said you’re good in bed. Good God! As if she’d been with other men before. I thought Tristan was just exaggerating about Addie. He wasn’t. It took only twenty-five minutes to drive from Tristan’s to here and I already have a fucking migraine. Whatever that is. The only thing I know about it is that Kirsten gets it when she’s PMSing. Even Teta agreed that I bring Addie here. And that says a lot because that old woman watches Addie like a hawk.”
Percival smiled. Addie raised a brow. He crooked his finger to ask her to come to him. She shook her head no. He motioned for her come again, but she refused to obey.
Percival sighed.
“I like your girl. She’s fucking gorgeous, but I don’t want to have to take her back at Tristan’s. She’s already made me think about getting on my plane and doing a kamikaze.”
Percival laughed. “That bad?”
“No shit. Hey, Addie said that it’s too bad you don’t speak Italian or you would have known what she feels for you. You fucking speak Italian like an Italian. I know that.”
“She doesn’t.”
“Ah. So, you let her whisper sweet nothings in your ear in Italian without telling her you understood. You’re a fucking whore.”
Percival laughed again, this time louder, making Addie’s brows go up even higher.
“She’s a keeper, bro. So, stop acting like a fucking baby girl or I might just go shopping for diapers for you.”
Percival’s anger was gone. Just like that. Leave it to his brother to drive his bluster away. “I’ll see you later, buttcrack.”
“You’re welcome. Tomorrow is Lucan’s birthday. Don’t hole up in there the way you did in a hotel in Oregon.”
“What?”
“Oh, yeah. We heard about that, too. Bye, bro.”
Percival hung up the phone. He wondered what else Addie told his family. “Gawain’s gone. He’s not going to marry you.”
“I know. And I wasn’t not going to marry him anyway.”
“Why? He’s handsome, successful—”
“And he’s a Knight.”
Percival grinned. “The best part about him.”
“Doesn’t matter. I’m not marrying someone I don’t love. But that’s neither here nor there. I’m here because of you. So, are you going to tell me why you’re giving me a chance? I just want to know. Then I’m leaving. I’m going back to Sister Kathleen. I know she’ll take me back.”
“Come here.”
Addie shook her head, but her feet did the opposite. She took a couple steps closer.
“Closer.”
She stood in between his sprawled legs. “Your family is not willing to expound on their explanation. What are they talking about giving me a chance?”
“To wake up in the morning without me beside you. I’m giving you a chance to face your day without me. I want you to see what the world looks like without me.”
“Do you want to know what I found out when I woke up alone?”
“What?”
“The same thing that you found out when you woke up without me, toad. I’ll just go.” Before she even made the slightest move, Percival grabbed both of her hands and pulled her against him. She ended up sitting on his lap. For a minute, he just hugged her, his arms tight around her and his face buried on her chest. He kept sighing, too.
“Did you just call me a toad?”
“You are.”
“Fine. I deserve that. Let me ask you this?”
“What?”
“Did you feel like the world just ended when you opened your eyes and found out that I wasn’t there?”
“Yes.”
“Did you feel severe pain in your chest that made you think you were dying?”
“Yes. And the colors left, the music died, and life itself stopped existing.”
“Oh, God.” Percival groaned in her chest.

Wicked Knight EXCERPT
The coffee pot started gurgling, taking Julie’s mind off the questions that were running in her head. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted in the kitchen. Yeah, she could use a cup.
Tristan was opening the cupboards, his back to her. He looked so great in jeans. She had seen him many times in his slacks and long-sleeved shirts with ties—he looked great in semi-formal clothes. But in blue jeans, he was simply ruggedly gorgeous, like a dangerous cowboy. Julie licked her lips. She’d seen lots of male models, but they didn’t have the same effect on her Tristan did.
Tristan reached for the coffee mugs in the cupboards, giving Julie a tantalizing view of his flexing muscles through the white shirt. And his butt…hmm…she could look at it all day. She had felt those muscles when he pleasured her. Strong and powerful. She wondered what he was looking for in a woman. Beautiful like Carly, of course. What else?
“You’re done looking. Do you want coffee now?”
“I wasn’t looking, I was just thinking,” she started, realizing Tristan caught her staring at his butt.
Tristan brought the two mugs and gave one to her. “Thinking about what?”
“About what Kirsten told me.”
“Oh, boy. What did she tell you?”
“Why you’re floundering.”
“Floundering?”
“Yeah. You’re a Pediatrician, established and so handsome, single and married moms take their babies to your clinic for as simple as a scratch on their knees. Women have been after you since sixth grade. Are you really serious about staying a bachelor again forever?”
“Hmm…guess not. I’m getting married again in three days, right? With you?”
“Ours is different.”
“If you want to know if I would settle down and have kids and a dog, a backyard with a picket fence, and a minivan someday, it depends.” He took a sip of his coffee.
“Depends on what?”
“Love. When I fall in love again, I will settle down again. Right now though, my chance of finding the right one is nil.”
“Why?”
“Because before I could go out on a second date with a girl, Julie Parrish would sabotage my name, sending her running as if her ass was on fire.”
“I did not sabotage your name. They are all gullible. They wouldn’t believe me if they trusted you.”
“Well, you see, they didn’t get a chance to get to know me. Trust comes after more than three dates, love.” Tristan chuckled.
Why, oh, why does he keep calling me love? “What’s funny?”
“You always blush.” He placed the coffee on the table, then bent down to level his gaze with her. “And this here,” he touched the base of her neck, “the pulse there, always jumps. So fascinating to watch.”
Julie flinched, scorched by his fingertip. She forced herself not to lean into his hand and rub her cheek like a mewling cat. She sipped her coffee, when all she wanted to do was suck his finger. Good grief! Suck his finger? What in the world is wrong with me? He would drive her insane, she thought. By the time Marla and her beady-eyed son arrived, she’d be a roasted pig. She felt like being barbecued every time he was near her. Not good. Not at all.
All the thoughts of sucking and rubbing her body made her knees go soft on her. She decided to sit down before she collapsed on the floor. She propped her foot on Tristan’s chair and continued to sip her coffee.
“How’s the foot?” he asked and sat beside her.
“Still attached,” she answered.
Tristan placed his coffee cup on the table, then lifted Julie’s foot with care before sitting on the chair. He placed Julie’s foot on his lap and started massaging her toes.
“Why cold, suddenly? You really want us to continue kissing, huh?”
“I’m not giving you a cold shoulder and I definitely do not want your kisses. Like you said, it leads to something more…uhm…intimate.” The word rolled off her tongue the way his rolled on her nipples.
Coffee spurted out of her mouth. She couldn’t believe where her line of thoughts were going. Never in her life had she thought of such carnal things, unless she was writing. Now Tristan hadn’t even been in her house one day and she was already thinking like a wanton, sex depraved woman. She groaned so loud from embarrassment, Tristan laughed at her.
Tristan pulled a handkerchief out of his pocket, surprising Julie. She didn’t know anyone who still carried that piece of material anymore.
He dabbed at her chin and mouth. “You said you tripped a lot of times because you have big feet and long legs. Now tell me why you couldn’t drink coffee without burning yourself? Got cow tongue?”
“I do not have a cow tongue.” Julie flicked his nose and stuck her tongue out at him.
“Oww, God darn it, woman. You’re aggressive.” He swatted her next attempt to flick his ear, laughing. “Hey, guess what?”
“What?”
“I heard on the news about a cow missing her eyelashes. You stole them, didn’t you?”
“Ha.Ha.”
“So are you up for a little drive in downtown Seattle?”
“What for?”
“To apply for our wedding license, of course,” Tristan’s eyes twinkled before cupping her face for a deep, long, and arousing kiss.
