Born in Germany in 1963, he is both the son of a retired US Air Force veteran and an Air Force veteran himself. After spending 17 years in Europe and achieving notoriety as an international recording artist, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1999, where he quickly established himself as a successful entertainer. Having literally thousands of successful performances under his belt, Riano is a natural when it comes to dealing with and communicating his message to audiences. His sincere smile and easygoing nature quickly put acquaintances at ease with him, allowing him to connect with them on a much deeper personal level—something that contributes substantially to his emotionally riveting style of storytelling. Furthermore, having lived in or visited many of the areas described in his novels, he can connect the readers to those places using factual descriptions and impressions, having personally observed them. After transitioning to full-time writing, he now resides in the Greater Nashville area, continuing his literary journey.
Riano has been writing poetry, essays, short stories, tradeshow editorials, and talent information descriptions for over 40 years, collectively. His style stands apart from many authors in that, while his talent for weaving clues into the very fabric of his stories gives them depth and a sense of credibility, each of his novels is distinctly different from the others. Whether describing the relationship between a loyal dog and his loving owner in ODIN, following the development of an introverted boy-genius in JAKE’S DRAGON, chronicling the effects of extraterrestrial intelligence on the development and fate of all mankind in THE ARTIFACT, documenting the 120-mile journey of a determined little dachshund and his trusted chaperone in AS FAR AS I CAN GO, capturing the magical friendship of a dog, a horse, and a Native American girl in THE SEARCH FOR BROKEN SKY, exploring the depths of human relationships in WATER, or describing the parallels between people and the objects they hold sacred in I FIX BROKEN THINGS, Riano tactfully draws you into an inescapable web of emotional involvement with each additional chapter and each new character introduced. Added to that, his painstaking research when developing plots and storylines gives his novels substance, which can hold up under even the staunchest of reader scrutiny.
Possessing an uncanny flair for building creative tension and suspense within a realistic plot, Riano pulls readers into the story as if they were, themselves, always intended to have a starring role in it. Furthermore, by skillfully blending historical fact with elements of fiction, Riano makes the impossible appear plausible, while his intensely detailed descriptions bring characters and locations vividly into focus.
Although it’s certain you'll love the destination to which he'll deliver you, you'll never guess the routes he'll take to get you there, so you may as well just dive in and enjoy the ride, which is certain to keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last paragraph!
