Harness The Power of Letting Go for A Simpler and Happier Life
Clutter silently sabotages our health, our wealth, our well-being, and our overall happiness.
Messy spaces trigger strong emotions causing stress often making it nearly impossible to rest and relax in our own homes.Visible and invisible clutter leads to an underlying feeling of discontent and dissatisfaction with our homes and ourselves. Out-of-control clutter breeds even more clutter, frequently leading to a downward spiral and sense of hopelessness ever to reclaim control of our homes and our lives. The stress caused by clutter invites self-blame and self-sabotaging that slowly eats away at our self-esteem and any motivation to do anything about it.
However, this vicious self-perpetuating cycle can be disrupted by practicing the skill and the art of letting go. Letting go of stuff, stress, mental blocks, and anything that prevents us from moving forward.
Letting go is both an art and a skill that with practice gets easier over time, eventually allowing you to live a simpler, happier and more productive life.
Knowledge Is Power: Understanding The Power of Letting GoThe more you understand about the power of letting go, the easier it will become to embrace it and employ the benefits of this skill.
1. Letting go is much harder than holding on.We attach meaning and significance to our possessions by allowing them to define who we are or who we would like to become. i.e., fancy cars, expensive, designer, clothing, and big houses.
When we understand this, it is easier to let go of possessions that try to define you.
2. Holding on to our stuff doesn’t fix anything. In fact, holding on to our possessions prevents us from moving forward, to start a new life or to reinvent ourselves.
3. Wishing things would just go away doesn’t work either. It’s hard work and it takes courage to declutter possessions you no longer need, use, or have multiples of.
4. We’ve been conditioned to believe that holding on or hanging in are signs of strength. What you will likely discover in the decluttering process is that it takes much more courage and strength to let go.
Remember…
You don’t have to let go all at once. Small steps are better than no steps at all.You don’t need to let go of everything.Instead, decide what you want to keep. That’s far easier.
You don’t need to keep holding on.If it no longer serves your current needs, let it go to reduce your clutter.
You don’t have to do it all alone.Decluttering is a process that takes time and focus. Ask for help when you need it.
The power of letting go starts with you.
START by thinking differently about clutter and the benefits of letting it go.
STOP holding on to what’s been holding you back from a simpler, less cluttered and happier life.

Decluttering? 4 Tricks to Stay Motivated When You Want to Quit
How do you stay motivated when you want to quit?
That’s the million-dollar question that many would love to know the answer to because it can be applied to just about anything when you have the urge to quit:
Losing weightGetting fitDecluttering your stuffMaybe if you’re a robot you’re not tempted to quit, but if you’re a human…
You get overwhelmed and exhausted. You procrastinate and make excuses. You get decision fatigue. How to be successful at your decluttering journey in 2024You’re definitely not alone in this decluttering journey. If you want to be successful at decluttering your home in 2024, staying motivated and staying focused is essential.
This blog is intended to support your success, ignite your passion, and boost your motivation so that you can conquer the urge to quit and regain your momentum.
When I started to prepare for this blog, I promised you 4 tricks to stay motivated when you want to quit, but once I got started, I came up with 24!
Here are my top 4 tricks and hacks to stay motivated to help you keep moving forward1. Commit to this mantra: Quitting is not an option. As challenging as the decluttering journey might be, rest if you must, but don’t quit.
2. Plan a party!Invite friends to a party at your home in 3 weeks. There’s nothing more motivating than challenging yourself to a deadline like this. Try it. It works!
3. First, decide what to discard or donate. This simple shift in the way you think about the process of decluttering is golden. It makes decluttering so much easier when you start to think this way.
4. Let go of perfection.Forget Perfection. It only slows you down.
Decluttering is a messy process that takes time, but it also requires that you make focused decisions.
You’ll be surprised at how much faster and easier it is to decide when you stop trying to get it right 100% of the time.
20 more ways to simplify decluttering that will help you stay motivated5. Just get moving.Without action, nothing happens. Commit to taking one step, and then another. One shelf, one drawer, one closet at a time.
6. Set realistic goals. When you set smaller, more attainable goals, you see results faster.
Once you start to see progress, you will regain momentum.
7. Take “before” and “after” pictures. What’s more motivating than seeing the results of your efforts? Don’t forget this important step even if it’s just a small area.
Posting the “before” and “after” pictures are intended to motivate you, keep you going, and also to remind you that you that you want to move forward, not backward.
8. Create a vision for your life after clutter. What will you do and with whom with the extra time and freedom you have when you live clutter-free?
9. Understand the consequences of quitting. What if you quit?
Ask yourself: If you’ve come this far, do you want to return to your former cluttered life?
Feel the emotions associated with how it was before and how it is after you decluttered an area.
10. Stop feeling sorry for yourself.Decluttering is a marathon, not a sprint. Yes, you will get tired and overwhelmed, but it will be worth it. Kick butt when you start to feel sorry for yourself.
11. Understand why decluttering is important to you.Knowing your “Why.”
(i.e., living a simpler life with less) will be the inspiration you can depend on when you’re tired and want to quit. It will help reignite your passion.
12. Restart in an easy area.If you are looking for easy areas to declutter where you can see quick results that boost your motivation, try these areas:
Linen closetNightstandJunk drawerMedicine cabinet13. What worked for you in the past when you got stuck and lacked motivation?Build upon your past experiences to know how to kickstart your decluttering efforts once again.
14. Review your progress weekly.Tracking your progress is critical to conquering the urge to quit and to remain focused to the end. Review how far you’ve come each week.
15. Play a decluttering game.Include your family in a fun 30-minute decluttering game every day. Make sure to set your timer.
ToysClothingBooksMagazinesHave fun. Don’t take the decluttering and yourself seriously.
16. Play your favorite music or podcast. This will help you relax and focus and enjoy the process of decluttering.
17. Decide to decide. In order to make your valuable time more effective, before you start a decluttering session, decide to decide.
Commit to making quick, deliberate decisions so you can make good progress.
18. Which decluttering method or methods work best for you.Figure out whether you are a fast declutterer and prefer quick bursts of decluttering energy, or if you are a slower declutterer and prefer decluttering at a slower pace such as room-by-room method.
19. Use a decluttering checklist.A checklist helps you stay focused and on track. Many people find the decluttering checklist essential to tracking their progress.
20. Take a break and don’t feel guilty.Decluttering can be overwhelming and exhausting, both physically and mentally. We all need a break once in a while. Don’t feel guilty about taking a weekend or two off from decluttering. You’ll feel refreshed when you restart but make sure you commit to a time and date to restart.
21. Celebrate big and small wins! Both are wins.
Reward yourself with something that you like to do that will acknowledge your progress.
22. Give yourself grace. When you believe you can, anything is possible. Keep going, never give up, but along the way, be kind and compassionate to yourself.
23. Know what time of day works best for you to declutter. When do you have your best energy? What time works best for you? Schedule your decluttering sessions around those times.
24. Give yourself something to look forward to.Make 2024 the year you started to look at your life differently. Make it your best year ever.
You’ve tried and failed before, but you’ve grown from it, you’ve learned from it. Become the hero of your own decluttering story.
We all have setbacks, but when you do, it’s important to still stay positive and believe you can conquer the urge to quit.
Stay focused on your vision for a clutter-free life, one that is peaceful, calm, and simple.

3 Simple Steps to Declutter the Most Challenging Areas in Your Home
If you want to learn how to declutter the most challenging areas in your home, you’ve got to read this blog and/or listen to this video on my YouTube channel. I will share with you three simple ways to declutter those areas once and for all.
We all probably have at least one or two areas of our home that are much more difficult to declutter than other areas have been. They challenge us, they overwhelm us with the thought of them… it gets pushed down to the bottom of our list because we don’t make time to get it done.
You avoided them perhaps, hoping that it would magically disappear. But in fact, every time you go near that area, you dread it, and it weighs you down.
That nagging feeling just won’t go away and it will probably even get worse until you stop procrastinating and just deal with it.
How to Finally Declutter SuccessfullyWhat if you could finally declutter that most challenging area once and for all so that you could free yourself from the guilt, angst, and other annoying emotions that pop up every time you even think about that space?
· THAT ROOM COULD BE YOUR BASEMENTStacked with boxes and bins, old cribs, and bicycles that have been sitting in your basement ever since you moved five years ago.
· THAT ROOM COULD BE YOUR GARAGEFilled with garden tools you rarely use, old car, tires, boxes of donations waiting to get delivered to a donation site.
· THAT ROOM COULD BE YOUR GUESTROOMThe room that has become the central dumping ground for everything you don’t know what to do with.
Perhaps you have the urge to purge and finally declutter the most challenging areas of your home.
3 Simple Steps to Declutter That One Area You’ve Been Putting Off1. Take a deep look at the challenging area.Pull up a chair, look at every corner and every inch of the room you’ve been telling yourself it’s “too hard” or it’s “too overwhelming.”Look at every box, every bin, every single trash bag that’s filled with stuff you have no idea what’s in it.Write it all down, what you see, what you are feeling.Make a detailed list.Take “before” pictures2. Visualize the space as if it were empty and free of all of the stuff on that listThink of ways that you could use the space if it were free of clutter
A game room for your kids or grandkids.A garage that has plenty of room to park your cars.A beautiful guest room you are proud of where you can welcome your guests.3. Visualize your family and yourself using the space that has previously been unusable. How will you use this newfound space? As your mindset shifts from “too hard” and “too overwhelming” to “what’s possible for this room,” make a detailed checklist of all that you will need to do to make this a reality.
Approximate the number of hours, days, or weeks it will take to declutter this area. Write it down.
Get your workbook NOW! More details here.
BONUS!4. Schedule times and dates to declutter this area so that you can make it clutter-free as you envisioned.Put those dates and times on your calendar.Schedule your team to help you.Stage all necessary supplies (trash bags, boxes, markers, tape)Play your favorite, upbeat, music.Set a timer for 45 to 50-minute increments. Go!Sort into three boxes: dispose, donate, keep.Put all dispose items in the trash immediately.Put all donate items in your car to deliver to a donation site.Organize all items that you will keep.As you are working, remind yourself of your vision, remind yourself that it’s not hard… You’re doing it! Remind yourself that it will take time and it will be worth it.
Celebrate Your SuccessWhen you follow these three simple steps, what was considered hard is made simple because… You faced the project head-on and no longer pretended or denied that it existed.
In writing it down, and making a checklist, you were able to break down the project into more manageable parts so it was less overwhelming. In visualizing what the area could look like and how you could use it when it’s decluttered, you saw your space with a new set of eyes and created possibilities for it.In setting a time and a date, writing it down, you were holding yourself accountable you stopped, saying someday. Instead said today’s the day to accept that urge to purge and just get it done.I’d love to hear back from you on how these three steps Worked for you finally decluttering a room that had previously been a big challenge.

Craving A Simpler Life with Less? Don’t Just Talk About It, Do It!
I ran into a former client recently and she said, “Deciding to live a simpler life, was the best thing I ever did for myself!”
She went on to say that she had absolutely no regrets about choosing not only to declutter her stuff but to also downsize to a smaller home.
She said that in the process she had come to embrace living with less and has learned to be grateful and content.
Take Back Control in Your LifeWhile it took time, she said that one of the most important lessons she learned was that in order to take back control of her own life so she could live life on her own terms, she had to stop worrying about what others would think or what society might be telling her she should do.
It had been 2 years since she got fed up with the constant stress and being overwhelmed by too much stuff and she said she never looked back on her decision to live that simpler life with less.
If this sounds vaguely familiar to you and you are craving to live a simpler and more abundant life with less stuff and less stress, maybe it’s time for you in 2024 to stop talking about it and just do it! To intentionally embrace, having enough and being enough.
While it’s tempting to jump right in and say let’s get started, there are a few very important steps that you need to take to achieve the best results and reach your goals. They will also help you stay focused on the areas of life that you need the most help in simplifying.
Follow the step-by-step method to get the results you want so you can gain momentum and build confidence on your journey to living more with less.
Step 1: Take time to assess all areas of your life to determine what needs to change to make life simpler. The more we become aware and understand what needs to change on the inside, the faster and easier it will be to make changes on the outside.
In other words, we need to confront what’s going on the inside before we can make changes that will impact our life.
For example: You might want and need to declutter your home, but why do you continue to buy more stuff? You might want and need to reduce your debt, but why do you keep using credit cards to buy more? You might want and need to lose weight and get fit, but why do you hold onto bad eating habits? You might want more time to relax and enjoy your life, but why do you keep saying yes to everything and needlessly filling up your calendar? If you want to make positive lifestyle changes that will improve the quality of your life, you must first understand and become aware of why you continue to struggle with… excess clutter, excess debt, overeating, busyness, etc.
Once you realize so much of what goes on the inside is directly tied to your emotions:
I.e., loneliness, stress, overwhelm, fatigue, etc.Once you start to realize that we all try to distract ourselves, maybe even deny and hide from the pain of those same emotions that will help us feel better at least momentarily. I.e., buying those shoes or eating that chocolate.
Then, the underlying cause of consuming too much begins to make sense. We can see what’s going on, why we do what we do and why we continue to live a life with excess.
Only after you take the time to assess the root of the problem is, only then can you start to take back control of your life and set the stage for living a simpler life with less so you can live more.
Download Your Copy Today! Learn MoreStep 2: Clearly define what a simpler life looks like for you. Create a vision for what you want and don’t want, for what you want more of and less of.
For example:A Simpler Schedule: With white space on your calendar: One that is less busy to have more time and freedom to pursue what matters more to you.One with less to do and with less stress. One with more time to rest and even to do nothing. One that is balanced.A Simpler Home: A home that is uncluttered, organized, peaceful, calm, and welcoming. One that you look forward to coming home to.One where you can focus and be productive. One where you have less to do so you could have more time to simply enjoy your life.A Simpler Financial Life: A life that is free from debt where you make fewer impulse purchases, and where you are mindful of how you spend your moneyOne where you live well within your main budget and we have all you want and need so you consume much lessSimpler and Healthy Relationships: Quality relationships that are easy, uncomplicated and meaningful where you prioritize time together to make memories with family and friends.Simpler Routines and Habits: These help you prioritize and maintain a clutter-free home and happy, healthy, relationships, and financial life.Simpler Healthy Lifestyle: A lifestyle that doesn’t feel good, it’s good for your physical and mental health and well-being. One that is filled with contentment and gratitude for having enough.Step 3: Prioritize the areas in your life that need to be simplified first.Start with those areas when simplified, will make the most immediate and greatest impact.
