Website Update and Secured Lovers ARC

Hey All,

My website was sorely in need of an update, I kind of neglected it for a while. It’s hard to keep up with all the social media and website stuff alone. I’m gonna have to set reminders to remind myself to update all this stuff.

Anyway, I completely revamped my website. I got rid of some extra pages and made a bunch of new interactive sections, so stop by and check it out, KaydeeRobins.com.

With the updates some of the links have changed so the links in the back of my books may take you to a 404 page. If you get the 404 page, just use the navigation to get where you were trying to go. I promise it’s still there.

Annoyed

Before I get into this, I want to say thanks to all my readers. And I am sure that not a lot of authors would put this out there, but this isn’t my primary income this is just a hobby to me, so if I offend you with this post then I’m sorry, not sorry.

So I understand that not everyone is going to like my books and that I am going to get some negative reviews, especially when the protagonist is not very likeable. But nothing is worse than a DNF review. As an avid reader myself I read all kinds of books, there are books that I didn’t get into much, but I hardly ever DNF a book and when I do, I probably won’t leave a review. And I get that sometimes the book is just so bad you need too. But when someone assumes something about a protagonist AND myself because they didn’t finish the book.

I am appalled that a reader would assume that I would justify rape. I would NEVER ever justify rape just EVER. This particular review was on my new old book Love Hacked. I say new old book because this was originally released two years ago under a different title and just re-released under this title and this is the first time that I’ve gotten a review like this.

I honestly don’t care if you never want to read my books again. That’s your choice as a reader.

This book was written in first person and in Cal’s eyes what he did in high school was unjustifiable, and he’s been punishing himself since. So yes readers may interpret this as rape however, when Cal finally opens up to BOTH the second MC and Danny (book 1s) MC it is discovered he was just as much a victim as Danny was. So please, if you DNF a book because you don’t like where you think it’s going, don’t leave a review like this. The bottom line is, you just don’t know the whole story because you stopped reading it. Instead, your review could say DNF, this was just not my cup of tea, or something like that.

Please do not take this the wrong way as I have had DNF reviews before, I don’t like them, but my writing isn’t going to be everyone’s jam. However, this one upsets me as a person because of the context behind it and what it implies about me.

Usually, I do not include content warnings, however I have decided that this specific book warrants a content warning and I have since added it to the description.

On a positive note, I am ecstatic about the numbers on the re-release of this series. I did a promo for Classified Lovers for my birthday and ended up in the #1 spot on the Free Transgender Romance category on Amazon and #11 in the Free Gay Romance category this past week. I am also awaiting the editor to return book 3, Beau and the Bear, and should have it back by the 30th, release date is 9/14.

Classified Lovers – Release Day

It’s been a heck of a year, the kids are FINALLY out of virtual school. It’s going to be a short summer, but my hubby and I have a much-needed break. The sister-in-law took the kids for 3 days. I decided to take time off work as well so my hubby and I could have a staycation. With the new puppy we have we still had to get up at the butt crack of dawn to let him out to go potty but hey, it’s still been relaxing. I even took a whole 4 days away from my PC completely. It was refreshing in a way.

Anyway, so today is the re-release of my debut novel, Classified Lovers (previously named, A Spy and his SEAL). The new version has a new name, professional edits and much more. The series name has changed from Eclipse to Eclipsed to distinguish the difference between the original and the new edition. When I first wrote this, I wanted the transgender character dysphoria to not be the focus of attention in the novel, but I quickly learned how wrong I was to write it like I did. So, the new versions has a bunch of changes, mainly to the areas of the story the deal with his body and dysphoria. I hope I did trans men out there justice when I rewrote this. Check it out now.

As a mom of a now, questionably trans boy (currently non-binary) – who knows these days, they are changing, so often I can’t keep up (typical teenagers) – I realize that everyone is different and is affected different by their dysphoria. Mine has gone a long way in telling us upfront how they feel, since they aren’t big on sharing their feeling with us.

Well, dang, I got off-topic, per usual. Stupid rabbit hole. Anywho, I hope you enjoy the new edition and continue to read my stories. Book two, Love Hacked, will be re-released in August, on my birthday in fact, it’s available for preorder now. I will also release book 2.5 through StoryOrigin as a reader magnet on the same day. I thought about releasing it now, but for those who haven’t read my debut series, I didn’t want to give away spoilers, although Love Most Wanted doesn’t give many away, I still wanted 2 out before I released 2.5.

Finally, Beau and the Bear is still set to release in September. I also decided against having the New Alphas series professional edited and doing a re-release on it, for the moment. But I did tweak the covers to make them more professional and added a disclaimer to the blurb advising they are not professionally edited.

Eclipse Series Updates

Hey All,

So I made a difficult but refreshing decision this weekend. My editor got the Eclipse Series edits back to me. Between all the changes I am making to book one, I have decided to rebrand the books. Instead of the box set coming out in June like I planned I will be re-releasing book one under a new title. I have yet to decide what that title will be and if the series name will change or not. I did not come to this decision lightly, however, I feel that leaving it under the current titles will be a disservice to the story. Thank you all for understanding.

In other news, Caspian Untangled has done great. People have been really loving the series. I am happy that everyone loves it.

Caspian Untangled Paperback Available Early

Caspian Untangled, Book 2 in my Legends of the Pack series is now available in paperback, get your copy now, books2read.com/CaspianUntangled. Kindle edition comes out May 4th.

Also, my editor is almost done with the Eclipse series, I’ll have it back no later than May 16th and will post the updates to Amazon ASAP. If you already read it, you will need to submit a ticket to Amazon to have them push the updates to your Kindle device, or you can wait for the box set to come out June 26th which will obviously include all the editors edits.

Caspian Untangled – ARC Review Time

I will be announcing book 3 to my Facebook Group on Tuesday as part of my #TeaserTuesday. So if you haven’t already joined please do so to check out early content. Since I am going back and releasing a re-edited (professionally done this time) of Eclipse the Series with an Exclusive Prequel at the end of June book 3 of Legends of the Pack will not be released until mid-September. This will also give me time to hopefully get ahead of the game. I have ideas for two more books at least after that.

On a personal note, I got a promotion at work, yay me, and we are STILL stuck at home with the office closed. My three kids are driving me bonkers, anyone else?

Kaydee’s Updates 03/13/21 – Pro Edits/Covers/Merch

Hey All,

So as a relativity new Indie author, I’ve made some mistakes. I have also been stubborn and tried to correct those mistakes myself, however, no matter home many times I read through my manuscript the errors are still there.

As I reported a few weeks ago, I hired a professional editor to copy and line edit my books. Since Ginger Fella is my latest novel and still considered a New Release, I had that edited first. I just got the edits back yesterday and OMG I had no idea that Grammarly would miss that much stuff, the pages were full of fixes. The editor also suggested that I remove the dialect accents from the dialogue and leave just the Gaelic and French words here and there to remind readers of the characters accent. Between her suggestion and reader feedback, I have done just that.

The edits for Ginger are now live on Amazon, if you already have a copy, and you want the updates you will have to reach out to Kindle support and request they push the newest version to your Kindle device/app. I tried to get them to push the updates to all readers, but they won’t because it resets the readers progress in the book and erases any highlights they have made. If you have any issues getting the updates or received and ARC copy please reach out to me via Facebook/Instagram messenger or my email Kaydee@KaydeeRobins.com and I will send you a new copy.

Ginger’s sequel, Caspian Untangled, will keep its release date of May 4th and have the editors edits BEFORE it becomes live. I’ll have the edits back on it mid-April, to make sure ARC readers have time to read the book, I’ll get those copies out before the edits come back. The Eclipse Series will also keep its release date of June 26th. I will have those edits back by May 16th. I will immediately update the individual books at that time.

I also made slight changes to the covers removing the Author bio from the backside–since it’s at the end of the books internal content–giving room to make the blurb easier to read.

My last bit of news is my Merch/Swag. I’ve messed around with my logo a couple of times, trying different things, but I finally found one that I am happy with.
