DEATH
Death is something that will affect 100% of us. Quite a staggering statistic wouldn't you say? Not too many things can compare to that. We all will experience death either by the loss of someone we love or it may be our own. No matter what, we will not escape it, yet we live as if death wouldn't happen to us.
I was guilty of thinking death would never happen in my family, it only happens to other people but not us. When my son, Zach was killed in a car accident my entire life changed. The world around me kept going, but for me nothing existed except my pain. I honestly did not think I could continue on with my life.
When you lose a child you feel responsible like you've let them down. The pain goes so deep. There is no remedy or reversing death, it is so final. I reached out to God and He showed up in ways beyond anything that I could have ever imagined. He used everything around me to let me know that He loves me and that there was a reason for my son's death. He took the most painful thing that I have ever experienced in my life and turned it into the most amazing, incredible, experience beyond anything I could have ever imagined. I had to share my story with the world because I want people to have hope and to know that death is not the end. Join with me in the confidence that life here on Earth is not all there is.

TRIALS
I tried to clean out another closet this weekend. It's amazing the buried treasures you can find in the mountain of stuff you keep throwing in there!! Buried deep I ran across a pamphlet by Doug Sherman on "How to Keep Your Head Up When Your Job's Got You Down". Scanning through it I realized he had a great acronym for the word "TRIALS" . I want to share this with you all.
T - Thank God for what you have, rather than complaining about what you don't have. (Numbers 11:4-6, 10)
R - Remember God's previous faithfulness to you. (Psalm 77: 11-13)
I - Implore God's help for today, and take one day at a time ( Matthew 6:11 & 6:34)
A - Accept God's right to direct the events of your life. (Numbers 13:1-14:12 Habakkuk 3:17-19)
L - Leave the future to God (Matthew 6:31-34 & James 4:13-16)
S - Seek Christ-like character more than comfort and convenience. (Proverbs 22:1)
We can accept God's leadership in our lives and embrace the events He brings as chances to practice a biblical response to Him. God is the Creator of the universe, He is the only One with the wisdom and knowledge to run it, so He has the right to bring events into our lives. The ultimate goal of a Christian life is not comfort and convenience, or lack of pain and strife. The ultimate goal is Christ-like Character, this means more to God than anything else.
