Talk to Me Tuesday

Hey frands! It's been a while. A lot has been going on — co-writing a series with an amazing friend, packing up for a move, and reevaluating goals — but I'm ready to get back into the groove. Over the last week I got hit with the stomach plague! Womp, womp. This left me exhausted and highly unmotivated (nausea will do that to you), so I started watching the TV show Nailed It on Netflix. If you've never seen it, it's hilarious. Normal people attempt these SUPER difficult recipes (usually baked goods), and compete for $10,000. I love the hosts, the beautiful (and horrendous looking) creations, and the lessons the bakers learn. It also reminds me a bit of the writing journey. The first draft most often looks like a royal mess, but you learn along with way with each edit, then build in each new book. And the best way to get through the ugly, is to keep learning (and to learn how to laugh at yourself!).My question this week is: Are you binging a TV show at the moment? If so, what's on you autoplay?

I'm Ba-ack

A friend and I are working on something. PHASE 1 IS COMPLETE! We're co-writing a series called Blakemore Paranormal Academy. The first book, Supernatural Reform School is up for preorder and will be ready next month. For now, you can read the prequel to the series. You'll meet Sebastian "Bash" Locke, the dragon shifter prince...who can't shift. And if he doesn't by his 18th birthday, he'll lose his title, his betrothed, and maybe his life.READ THE DRAGON HEIR FOR FREE:https://dl.bookfunnel.com/7pugtw25trPREORDER SUPERNATURAL REFORM SCHOOL:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TVM77FJThese are YA paranormal academy books with mages, shifters, and more. Appropriate for 12+!

I Want to Know Wednesday

Hello all and welcome to another I Want to Know Wednesday!Last night, I finished an incredible book called Illuminae by Amie Kaufman. Because of the high intensity of the overall plot, I'd sworn to myself I would only read during the day. Adrenaline rushes are not conducive to sleep after all and as an eternal sufferer of insomnia, I don't need anything else to keep me awake. However, around 8 o'clock, the protagonists' dire situation dragged me straight back to its pages and a few hours later, I'd finished.Needless to say, I was then forced to watch some cartoons and read some less intense words in order to calm down and get to sleep. Kaufman knows how to raise stakes. Without giving too much away, I was thoroughly convinced the protagonists could not win. Every time something went well, another event made things infinitely worse. At one point I even gasped out loud (there's a reason it's socially awkward for me to read in public). This brings me to today's question. When was the last time a book kept you up way past your bed time? What was it that dragged you along? The romance? The insane stakes? Beautiful prose? All three? If you have a second, I'd love to know!

I Want to Know Wednesday

Hello all and welcome to another I Want to Know Wednesday! I had a brilliant idea for a blog post this morning on my way home from my workout. "That's it!" I thought. "That is the perfect beginning and the perfect topic. It will engage people well, read beautifully, launch me into a wonderful day!"(Okay, not really, but it was still good.)I also thought of how to start an article for work I've been struggling with. The blank screen has been taunting me for days. Relief flooded me. "This," I thought, "is how you start your Wednesday."Which means, of course, I promptly forgot both ideas.I wasn't even in the car, so I had the ability to write them down. Did I do this? Nope. I most certainly did not. Womp, womp. So instead, I'm taking a moment to talk about how we make sure we remember things when we're inspired.Do you do voice memos? Scribble on post-it notes? Hire a carrier pigeon? And when do you seem to get the best ideas? In the shower? The car? At work? How do you remind yourself of said brilliance for later? If you have a second, I'd love to know!
