#BookReview Someday in Paris by Olivia Lara & Giveaway #romance

Don’t you just love a book which takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions?

This book is such a powerful read, it will leave you breathless and whispering, this should be a film. I have spent many an hour gazing out of the window and thinking about what it would be like to see this book turned into a film. Don’t get me started on my thoughts about which famous people should be invited along for casting!

Here’s the blurb:

Finding the one is only the beginning…

1954.

Zara is fifteen the first time she meets Leon. During a power cut in a small French museum, the two spend one short hour in the dark talking about their love for art, Monet and Paris. Neither knows what the other looks like. Both know their lives will never be the same.

1963

In Paris, Leon no longer believes he will ever find the girl he lost that night. After dreaming about him for years, Zara thinks she has already found him. When they meet at an exhibition, they don’t recognise each other – yet the way they feel is so familiar…

Over the course of twenty years, Zara and Leon are destined to fall in love again and again.

But will they ever find a way to be together?

‘An epic, sweeping romance about soulmates and second chances’ Holly Miller

‘An absolutely unforgettable love story’ Mandy Baggot

‘A deeply moving, richly evocative story of love, loss and the power of hope’ Miranda Dickinson.

Here’s my review

If you want a breathtaking epic love story than this book is for you.

From the moment Zara and Leon met in the dark museum in 1954 I was hooked.

Zara and Leon’s love story spans decades and as with any epic love story there are missed opportunities, letters, accidents, jealousy, moments of intense pain, magical elation and tear inducing romance.

Warning – this book will wrap itself around your heart.

I loved how the encounter in the museum transformed their lives and I loved how they couldn’t forget about each other despite following separate life paths. The author does play with your emotions as you do start to worry that these two are just not meant to be together.

The book will take you on a wonderful journey, from France, England and to America.

I thought this book was magical. A fabulous story which will have you hooked straightaway. This book will wrap itself around your heart and it will be a struggle to let it go.

A Letter To My Thirty Something Self

Dear My Thirty Something Self

I’m sorry Thirty Something Self but I found this today while having a sort out.

After two pages of you rattling on about how you are dreading being in your forties I found myself rolling my eyes and shaking my head in disapproval. You wrote an entire NOTEBOOK about how you didn’t want to be forty something? For goodness sake, woman, put that ridiculous notebook away and read this!

You’ll be glad to know I’ve clocked up another year on the birthday front and I am now embracing all that the fabulous forties have to offer. Seeing as though you have written War & Peace on not wanting to be in your forties, I thought I would write and give you some insight into the age you’re currently dreading – the forties! *evil laugh*

If I have one piece of advice to give you then it is this – stop dreading the forties and more importantly the late forties (the downhill bit after forty-five as you call it

#BookReview Accidentally in Love @belinda_missen #romcom #Accidentallyinlove

Hands up – who loves the enemy to lovers trope? It’s one of my favourite tropes and usually consists of the main couple hating each other from their first meeting, either due to rivalry or bad vibes. As the story goes on they both realise the other is not as bad as they first thought and soon they are lusting after each other.

I thought Belinda Missen did a great job at making her characters Katherine and Kit really despise one another over Katherine’s new art gallery. It was clear on both sides why there was dislike for each other; Katherine was letting her ambitious streak get the better of her and not taking any regard to local talent within her home town of Sheffield. Kit was an art teacher who had a class full of budding artists who just needed someone to showcase their art. Belinda did such a good job at creating tension between them because when they finally did come together – there were flutterings inside of me.

Here’s the blurb:

Don’t miss the new laugh-out-loud rom com from the author of One Week ’Til Christmas!

Perfect for fans of Mhairi McFarlane, Rosie Walsh and Josie Silver.

In the space of a week, Katharine Patterson has quit her job, decided to move back home, and broken up with the guy she thought was the one.

No big deal.

Because Katharine has a plan. She’s going to open her own art gallery, just like she’s always wanted. What she’s not going to do is worry about boyfriends.

Then she meets Kit, a handsome and talented local artist. He might be the most stubborn person Katharine has ever met. He might also make her feel like no one ever has before.

And Katharine might be about to fall accidentally in love…

Here’s my review:

One of the many things I love about the enemies to lovers trope is that once the characters begin to see the other person in a different light – big things happen! In this book Katherine and Kit became better people. I loved both the character arcs of these two feisty and strong willed people.

Belinda Missen is at the top of her minor character game. Blimey she brought out a good cast of supporting characters; Fiona (Katherine’s father’s girlfriend) who was adorable, hunky Adam, Katherine’s brother, John, her ex and best mate Lainey.

This was a fun read with a good premise, great characters, some good heartwarming moments and it had a Bridget Jones vibe to it which I loved. More please, Belinda!

Author Bio – Author and sometimes foodie, Belinda is a ridiculous romantic who met her husband after being set up by a friend two states away. Residing in country Victoria, surrounded by books, cat-fur, and half-eaten cake, Belinda divides her days between writing rom-coms, baking, and indulging her love of comic books.

#BookReview Strictly Come Dating #BlogTour @kathrynfreeman1

This book made me think about one of my favourite TV programmes Strictly Come Dancing but I also got a strong Dirty Dancing sort of vibe from it too. Midway through the book every time Maggie danced with Seb all I could hear in my head was that sexy song Hungry Eyes.

I loved how this book created a thrill for ballroom dancing inside of me. It was like turning on the TV for Strictly and feeling my heart race at the sight of the sequins, the fancy shoes, the swinging hips and the excitement of a dancing competition.

In terms of crushes on fictional male characters my crush on Seb is the BIGGEST this year!

OMG – my poor little handheld fan from Amazon is exhausted. With hot flush inducing quotes like the ones below I was cranking up the fan speed to full blast as I read this book:

‘With Seb, a kiss was like an enchanted journey. It didn’t need to arrive at a destination; the journey was a treat in itself.’

Just when she was losing her mind, her body on fire, her heart dancing, he eased away. Pressing his forehead against hers, he groaned. ‘I could kiss you for ever.’

Can everyone form an orderly queue BEHIND ME for a fictional fling with Seb please?

Here’s the blurb:

Saturday nights are strictly for dancing…

As the glitter ball shimmers and sequins flash, forty-year-old Maggie remembers the pull of the dancefloor. But now, as a newly divorced mum of two, Maggie’s certain her dancing days are over. Or are they…?

Encouraged by her friends, Maggie dusts off her silver stilettoes and enrols for dancing classes, all she needs now is the perfect partner.

Enter Seb. Young, carefree and hot as hell, Seb is definitely a perfect 10! Even though everything about him is outrageously inappropriate!

But as Seb sweeps her across the dancefloor every week, Maggie begins to see a new side to him; kind, caring, funny, strong.

And Maggie realises that he’s the only one she’d like to foxtrot with…perhaps even forever

Here’s my review:

Seb made parts of me flutter. I can’t say anymore but my poor handheld fan is a shadow of its former fan self.

I loved the character of Maggie too but not in the same way I loved Seb.

The premise of her rediscovering her passion for dancing was brilliant.

This book was such an enjoyable read. In my head I am a fantastic ballroom dancer but reality is very different. This book allowed me to slip into Maggie’s stilettos, dance my heart out and cling onto sexy Seb. *sigh*

Great book!
