Smithsonian has published a remarkable article about a family of six that lived without human contact in the mountains of Siberia for forty years. To read it, and then hours later read this article in the New York Times concerning the real possibility of artificial intelligence surpassing our own, causes a mind to doubt that there's been any progress at all in the last hundred years on earth.
