Happiness is Finding the Perfect Gifts, Even If You’re Just Realizing That You Won’t Get Them Mailed In Time

I have been brilliant with some of my gifts this year. Unfortunately, they’re still sitting here unwrapped and in some cases unfinished. I tell myself that late gifts are just a way of extending the season, and that makes me happy.

What made you happy this week?

This is a Good Book Thursday, December 14, 2023

This week I read (and wrote) Very Nice Funerals, and read Arresting Anna to see what Bob had done with it (a lot) and Surprise Lily because I mentioned I’d started a book with Vikings and he’s evidently all about Vikings. Imagine if I’d said, “I have this book started about zombies . . .”

What did you read this week?

This week I’m making hats and scarves for Christmas presents, but really just crocheting for my mental health. Lotta stuff going on here, so sitting quietly doing rhythmic stuff with yarn is very soothing.

Argh Author: Harper Cross’s All I Want For Christmas is Her

Our own Nancy Yeager, writing as Harper Cross, has All I Want For Christmas Is Her, a protector Chrismas romance that’s part of a multi-author, nine–individual-books collection.

Deck the halls with spies and groomsmen…

As an agent for a spy organization known as HEAT, my idea of a thrilling vacation is quiet downtime, settling into my new apartment and domesticating my skittish foster cat. When my fuzzy roommate tries to scream down the building, I attract unwanted attention, including from Gage Halifax, the sexy do-gooder next door.

Gage loves animals. And kids and the environment. I hate white knights. And nosy neighbors and romantic liaisons. Which is why, despite my steamy fantasies about my hot neighbor, I intend to keep my distance from him.

Until I learn Gage’s company is being courted by a corrupt international organization and he might be in their crosshairs.

When I find out he’s a groomsman in need of a wedding date, I offer to be his plus one in exchange for him helping me plan my first Christmas in the city. It’s the perfect pretext for sticking close to protect him. I don’t anticipate how hard it will be to resist my forbidden fantasies. And I can’t guard against his heart of gold melting my heart of ice.

We’ll attend the wedding of the season if enemy agents don’t kill us first. And I’ll blow my cover if I can’t help falling for the guy next door.

Happiness is Good Book Thursdays

I’ve been having a stretch of time here where everything keeps happening at once and I’m behind on everything else, running around like a crazy person, and then three AM Saturday morning, I checked the blog for pending comments and finally read the comments to GBT,and I got a warm feeling all over because the people here are just so smart and kind and well-read that it made me really happy. So thank you all very much.

What made you happy this week?

This is a Good Book Thursday, December 6, 2023

I’m finishing up Loretta Chase’s last Carsington book, perusing a lot of crochet patterns, and trying to finish my part of Rocky Start, on which I am abysmally behind.

But we have a cover:

Working Wednesday, December 6, 2023

I know, I’m late again. I spent the morning on the net with Bob picking a cover for Rocky Start which evolved into trying to decide what genre we were (all of them) and then segued into a discussion of whether we wanted to set Rocky Start in the present or back in the sixties (NOT jumping between two time periods). We did pick a cover. Then I got distracted trying to sort out my crochet WiPs which was fun but not productive, although I did give up ten years ago on some really great projects, so I’m going back to those, and then I thought, Wait what day is it? and realized it was Wednesday and I’d screwed up again.

So what did you do this morning, this week, this year?
