Working Wednesday, March 21, 2018
I’m crocheting like a madwoman while it snows (AGAIN) outside. Also cleaning, baking, studying Hell, and writing a novel.
What are you making? (Doing, thinking about doing, deciding not to do . . .)

We Apologize Ahead of Time . . .
The electric company has done the neighborhood the favor of giving us a head’s up that since another apocalyptic snowstorm is headed our way, we’ll probably lose power. In their defense, I chose to live in Upper Nowhere surrounded by trees that fall on power lines, and they’re doing the best they can. But boy howdy am I tired of this. OTOH, I have plenty of firewood, food that does not need to be heated to eat, lots of bottled water, and three small but warm-blooded dogs to keep me warm at night. I’m covered. And more to the point, so are you: I have Working Wednesday, Good Book Thursday, Cherry Saturday and Happiness Sunday all scheduled to post automatically. This is just to tell you that if you don’t see me participating, it’s because winter has once again kneecapped my internet. Grrrrr.

Happiness Would Be Spring
I know many people think a snowfall is beautiful and snowmen are happy little creatures. I know I used to. But it’s mid March and we’re getting whacked with another snowstorm this week.
So this is more my speed, except I don’t think spring is ever coming:

Today is National Quilting Day.
It’s also St. Patrick’s Day, in case you have no Irish friends to beat you over the head with it. The kind of people who think up this stuff:
“St. Patrick’s revelers thought wearing green made one invisible to leprechauns, fairy creatures who would pinch anyone they could see (anyone not wearing green). People began pinching those who didn’t wear green as a reminder that leprechauns would sneak up and pinch green-abstainers.”
I’m German/Swiss. Pinch me, I’ll smack you with a beer stein.
Maybe just make a green quilt?

Working Wednesday: March 14, 2018
By now you’ve probably read that ReFab is shutting down because Krissie and I are swamped. But I’ve moving Happiness Sundays and Working Wednesdays over here so all is not lost. Actually, nothing is lost; ReFab is still over there to read the old posts, we’re just not posting there any more after Krissie’s good-bye on Sunday.
For those of you new to Working Wednesday,, the plan is to talk about something we’ve made on Wednesdays, and if we want pix with that, we post on Instagram using the hashtag #WorkingWednesdayPix. “Made” includes fiber crafts, painting and drawing, collage, baking, cooking, writing, gardens, fires, messes, and trouble. Pictures are not necessary, so don’t stress about Instagram.
Note: If you don’t like posting to Instagram from your phone or tablet and want to post from your Mac computer, I recommend Uplet, an app that gives you a window on your laptop to drag pictures into with a space for text. It may not be a great plan, but at least I made a plan.
Look, I made something. I should post this on Instagram at #WorkingWednesdayPix.

The Happiness of Power
Krissie and I had a blog called ReFab for a very long time, and now it’s time to shut it down. We did that once before, and people missed Happiness Sundays, which was basically just a chance to share the good stuff that had happened once a week, so Happiness Sundays are now on Argh. If nobody’s interested, they will quietly go away. And here’s the one that was supposed to go on ReFab today:
I have power.
Which means I have heat and light.
I am happy.
Also, if you’re on Daylight Savings Time, the time to spring forward was 2AM this morning. Lose an hour, gain some light.
(Yes, that means we have Working Wednesdays, Good Book Thursdays, Cherry Saturdays, and Happiness Sundays now. That still leaves Monday, Tuesday, and Friday for general writing stuff, plus if nobody’s that interested in the special days, I will see that they fade away. I couldn’t kill Good Book Thursdays with a rock at this point, but it’s possible that Cherry Saturday has run its course since it’s been YEARS since we shut down the Cherry Forums, and I have no idea how the other two are going to fare away from ReFab.
So we’re going to vote. Here are the days as they are now:
Working Wednesdays: Talk about stuff we’ve made including crafts, food, gardens, fires, and trouble. Not love, this is a PG blog. Post pictures on Instagram (see coming Wednesday for details).
Good Book Thursday: Talk about good books we’ve read that week.
Cherry Saturday: Celebrate whatever weird holiday hits on that date; really just a day of chat.
Happiness Sunday: Talk about something that made us happy that week. It used to be three things, but we slacked off on that. This is actually a psychologically healthy thing to do, especially given the chaotic nature of the world right now, so we might want to give that a chance over here.
Once you’ve said what made you happy this week (do it, it’s good for you), tell me which days you think we should keep and I’ll tally up the votes in a week, or so.

March is Craft Month, brought to you by craft stores everywhere. I’m sure there’s a coupon if you check.
So what are you making? (Tea? Trouble? Love?)

This is a Good Book Thursday: Grrrrrr
Power came back on Tuesday night, but the internet didn’t. Then there was a big snow storm. Power is out again. NOT HAPPY. But I am plugged in at the dinner about to have an amazing late breakfast so, hey, for the moment, I’m happy.
Thank god I have rechargeable lamps, battery lamps, headlamps. And back-up batteries. And paper books.
So what are you reading this week?
UPDATE: Power is on, internet is back, Jenny is happy.

Continue to Talk Amongst Yourselves
They’re saying power by Friday now, but we have eight to twelve inches of snow coming in tonight and tomorrow, so . . .
Argh is on auto pilot for the rest of the week or until power is restored, whichever comes first because I’m not going to be getting out of my driveway any time soon.
