9 Weeks to Launch - Rewriting My Happily Ever After

Keeping my promise of sharing my writing and publishing journey.....

📘As Rewriting My Happily Ever After - A Memoir of Divorce and Discovery gets closer to publication, the busy days continue. Lots of pending items were in the air last week and some have landed.

🎯 With 9 weeks to launch, here's a list of 5 things that I have done this week.

1️⃣ I setup my publsihing account on Amazon but I am looking at other platforms as well. Stay tuned.

2️⃣ A critical aspect of the book cover design involves all the stuff that goes on the back cover. Given the limited space, it's tricky to figure out what goes on the book and what goes in the summary on the online platforms. This was NOT easy 🤯

3️⃣ The author bio is another aspect of the back cover that feels really difficult to write. Strange that I wrote thousands of words inside the book but the outside was the bigger problem!

4️⃣ Getting all the interior text, back cover details, and book size ready for the cover was no simple feat.

5️⃣ Uploading all the disparate pieces into a platform and keeping my fingers crossed for a print book to come out of the black box is like trying to understand a magic trick while simutaneously waiting to be amazed.

There's lots more to do. But at least I feel I am moving closer to the goal.

✍ Writing energised me but it was also a solitary activity. Now I have to work with differnt people, manage expectations and timelines and ensure no ball is dropped. But well, what can I say, it's all part of the process.

10 weeks to launch - Rewriting M Happily Ever After

I am so excited to share the news of the upcoming launch of my new book Rewriting My Happily Ever After - A Memoir of Divorce and Discovery.

My first full-length memoir which describes a three-year period of my life when I separated from my husband and figured out life as single parent before going through with my divorce will be published in Oct 2021.

Many of you know that for most of 2021, I have been sharing my book writing journey with my newsletter subscribers.

📘As Rewriting My Happily Ever After - A Memoir of Divorce and Discovery gets closer to publication, the days are getting really busy. I'm juggling many activities, even if some have been outsourced to professionals, because I am responsible for the final porduct.

Just as I shared the the challenges and the inspirations, the ups and downs of the writing process with readers, I want to share the practical aspects of my book publishing journey with you.

🎯Every week I will list the 5 things that I have been focusing on.

With 10 weeks to launch, here's my weekly update:

1️⃣ My super-suuportiev band of beta readers send me their thoughtful feedback. I incorporated most of the relevant points into the manuscript

2️⃣ The book front cover draft had been prepared by the designer a few months ago but it was time to take another look at it with book dimensions in mind

3️⃣ Did you know that the interior of the book also needs ot be deisgned and laid out? I learnt about it and found someone to do it

4️⃣ In parallel with beta readers, I sent out my manuscript to publsihed authors and relevant readers who were kind enough to agree to give me a blurb that I could use

5️⃣ I hired and worked with a professional editor to get the manuscript in final shape with all the t's crossed and i's dotted and quotation marks placed in all the right places

That's a lot to handle and sometimes I feel exhausted and burnt out.

To be honest, the writing part seemed much easier in comparison with these activities that take a lot of my time.

✍ Writing energised me while these seem to drain me. But well, what can I say, it's all part of the process if I want my book to take its final shape.
